  1. So excited! Today, booked my very first mediterranean cruise for me, DH and 8 year old daughter for August 2017. Also excited I was able to get cabin 1700. This is our first time on FOS (been on the Adventurer, Oasis and going on Allure this August). The itinerary looks awesome! Hear great things about FOS so looking forward to exploring it.

  2. I have a 7 yr old daughter who's been cruising since she was 3. She was taught how to behave, no matter the environment. When we've witnessed something like this, one of my comments to her is 'that type of behavior is not correct and is not tolerated by mommy and daddy.' Now when she sees it, without me even saying anything she says that those kids are misbehaving[emoji4][emoji108]🏾

  3. Seems to me, which ever cruise line breaks your cruise virginity will get most of your cruising $$ over the years.

I respectfully disagree with this comment. I started cruising on Carnival in 1996 and was a die hard Carnival cruiser every year until I took my first RCCL cruise in 2001. Haven't been back to Carnival. Remained a die hard RCCL cruiser until 2012 when I started cruising Disney. Came back to RCCL last year (2015) and am cruising with them again this year (2016).

So although I started with Carnival they don't get the most of my cruising $$$$

  4. That is incorrect. The Quarterdeck is across the street and one block down Cordova from the Embassy.

To the OP, I think for atmosphere and seafood, Coconuts is your best bet.

    I also like Casablanca.

If you want New England Seafood, hands down Kelly's Landing. Very little outdoor seating but walkable from the Embassy. It is across Cordova from the Quarterdeck.

BlueHerons, I appreciate all of your input on this thread and the duplicate thread.:). Coconuts it is!!!

  5. With a child in tow I'm going to second eandj's recommendations. Both 15th St Fisheries and Coconuts are on the intracoastal so they have lovely and interesting views. From 15th St Fisheries you will see more yacht traffic and at certain hours (it may be on their website) they feed the tarpon which kids and adults enjoy. That being said, Coconuts is one of my favorite Fort Lauderdale restaurants (I think the seafood is better) and when seated dockside I've frequently seen tarpon.

Hi capriccio. Thanks for your input. I believe our choice is ...... Coconuts!!!!![emoji4][emoji106]🏾

  6. I have had 2 cabins on deck 12, my favorite deck for our cabin. The only bad cabins are the ones in the forward section. If you look at where the cantlivered hottubs are, there foreward have a problem one night each cruise where the solarium dance part is really loud until close to 3am. (If your in the party no problem!) Also the people in the hottubs can look into the front 3 feet of your balcony.

Hi BillOh. Great info - thank you!!!!

  7. Fort Lauderdale isn't known for it's local seafood. Being close to the ocean you would expect a lot of fish, yet most restaurants just offer mahi and salmon.

Coconuts is my favorite. They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait. It might be very warm in August and most of the restaurant is outdoors. If you prefer being indoors in the A/C, Boatyard is excellent and also has outdoor dining...it's a couple of blocks from Embassy Suites.

Hi royalcruz. Coconuts is getting the most 'votes.'[emoji4] And they get great reviews on Trip Advisor. I'll look into Boatyard too. Thx!!!!!

  8. With a child, 15th St. Fisheries downstairs along the intracoastal might be fun.

We like Coconuts and the very casual Bahia Cabana.

    Most restaurants do serve seafood.;)

Hi eandj. Thx for the recommendations. Coconuts seems to be a popular choice.

Yes most restaurants do serve seafood but not GOOD seafood[emoji4] I inadvertently left out that important clarifier!!!!!

  9. So many types and choices. What do you want? Seafood, view, casual, fancier....

    Where are you staying?

Hi eandj. We love seafood so want to focus on that. A view would be great. Because we are traveling from Las Vegas, looking more for a casual atmosphere. We are staying at the Embassy Suites.

  10. If you give us some idea of cuisine, budget, ambiance, etc. that you want, it will help us make recommendations. You can also check out reviews on TripAdvisor.

Hi capriccio. We live in Las Vegas so when we visit a city close to the ocean, we love to get seafood. Budget's not an issue. We will have our 7 year old with us. Not looking for chain restaurants as we love to try local places.

  11. Gilbert's grill is excellent and if staying at ES on 17th would be in walking distance. Their deserts were phenomenal! See tripadvisor.

Desserts are a huge selling point!!!![emoji3] Added to my list. Thank you[emoji106]🏾

  12. They are not within walking distance unfortunately. Both of those restaurants are near the beach. A cab would cost less then $10 to go to Coconuts from Embassy Suites and then you can spend a few hours on the beach boardwalk. There are great bars on the boardwalk that you could check out. And the beach is great.

We've never stayed at Embassy Suites but have heard from many who have and I think there are great restaurants within walking distance from there.

Adding to my growing list!!![emoji4] Thank you.

  13. Southport Raw Bar

Southport is a hole in the wall raw bar but a real gem. It is ultra casual and has what I call, being a New Englander, great southern style seafood. You won't get a lobster here if that's what your looking for. They have indoor and outdoor seating with water views and docks.

    Kelly's Landing

Kelly's is more New England style and has lobsta'. This is also a casual dining as all seafood restaurants should be. Just my humble opinion. I lean toward Southport because I can get Kelly's menu in many of favorite home restaurants. That won't be a problem for you. The food was very good.

    Hope this helps.

Awesome!!!! Lobster is not mandatory - these sound great. Thank ya!!!

  14. We like Coconuts on the intercostal waterway. Great seafood and atmosphere! If you stay near Las Olas Blvd. Quarter Deck is great, they have fun swinging tables. Best coconut shrimp I've ever tasted.

Thx happy cruiser. We are staying at the Embassy Suites. Is Coconuts or Quarter Deck far from there?
