I agree, they need a more updated ship than the Fascination sailing from San Juan. The itinerary is great, but I need a balcony!!!
-
I never quite understood how that worked. Thanks for posting.
I'm going to tell my hubby to do it that way in May!! :D

Sounds like a great plan! [emoji4]
I've spent a lot of time in OSJ over the years (been many times to PR to visit family) and three spots come to mind:
El Batey- this is a dive type bar that feels like you just walked into a scene from pirates of the Caribbean. Nothing fancy, but definitely cool and authentic.
Barrachina- the place where the pina colada was invented! Very cute, open air restaurant with a nice outdoor bar. The pina coladas are amazing!
Don Q rum- it's a small museum that displays the history of Don Q and ends with free shots of their rum! Hint- tip the bartender and you may get an extra shot or two. [emoji6]
Enjoy your time there!
Thanks for the feedback. El Batey sounds like it would definitely fit the bill. Barrachina was on the list, and I didn't realize Don Q was still open. I found that Los 3 Cuernos opens at noon. A few reviews said they have $1 shots and cheap beers. We'll probably make that the last stop before heading back to the ship.
Will post any other good ones I find.
happy cruising to all!!

Let me start by saying...were're not lushes!! LOL!!
We'll be in OSJ on a Thursday, from 7am - 2pm. My task was to plan the activities for this stop. 4 out of the 6 of us have visited the city before. We'll start with a stop at one of the local spots for breakfast before starting our walking tour of the forts and other landmarks.
I'd like to include a couple of stops at a local bar/dive spot, for a beer or quick shot, as we walk around (to keep the guys happy-LOL)...nothing where you have to sit down, order and wait for service. Can you guys help? Are there any local spots that might work during that time frame?
Thanks in advance and happy cruising!!

It's better to order before boarding. I ordered the first bottle before boarding; it included tax. We ended up ordering a 2nd bottle while on board and they include a 15% gratuity.
happy cruising to you!!

Doing the same itinerary in April.
Check out the comedy club, status on the shops, and any neat things to do in San Juan.
have a great cruise!!!

I think it's two alcoholic items per day? If you change the date they are delivered you can have 2 per day during the entirety of the cruise...i think??
No; you're limited to 2 alcoholic items perorder, but they can be delivered all on the same day. Here's how it went for us...I placed the first order for the High Seas tote bag which incl. a bottle of champagne (flutes, towels, shirts, visors, $25 cruise cash and cruise photo cash...the current tote is called the Sail Away Package-good deal) and ordered a bottle of cognac. A few days later, I placed another order for the chill out package (beers with a soft-sided cooler) and a bottle of rum. I requested, and they were all delivered on embarkation day. We had FTTF and were still unpacking our luggage when everything arrived. It was an 8 day cruise...Cheers would have been over $900 for the 2 of us. We spent less than half of that on the Fun Shops orders and had plenty leftover to try new drinks and replenish the cooler with a few more buckets of beers!!
happy cruizin to all

Ran into the same issue in April. You're typically limited to 2 bottles of alcohol per order; but you can place more than 1 order. Go back in tomorrow and place the 2nd order.

Is there any specific reason why one would choose a room on starboard vs port side?
Port side balcony for southern itinerary. You'll be heading back north on the return trip and will have some beautiful sunsets from your balcony.

Hope you guys have a wonderful trip!!

We were in the aft wrap on deck 7 in late April. Liked it so much, we've booked it again for next April!! No problems with the A/C or room temp at all.
happy cruising to all!!

It will depend upon what time you arrive at the port, but it was not chaotic. Once you check in, they will direct you to a designated seating area for FTTF.

some duct tape. don't the whole roll; just spool some around something smaller. it comes in handy for all sorts of emergency repairs.
-
It means "First To The Food". Basically, you get a green tag with your pic on a lanyard that lets you go to the front of the Lido deck buffet lines and MDR. It pays off during lobster night. :)
you are not right!! ROFLM_A:D

sooo jealous; we won't be leaving until next month!
hope you have a wonderful trip.
happy cruising to all !!

happy cruising to all of you!

you earn 1 VIFP point for each day cruised. Platinum level is now 75-199 VIFP points.

OV to an extended balcony for $110? you got a great deal!!
happy cruising to you!

I'd call them back. My OBC was posted the same day and showed under the line where it said balance was paid in full.
-
jealous of you all but wish you happy cruising!! :)
-
We've always flown in the day of sailing; non-stop flight only, as early in the day as possible.

Why do 20 people reply with the same answer? You're on CC! would you be feel comfortable and accept the response to your question...if only 1 person responded? :)

But it was the exact same policy.
I believe you, as the same thing happened with me. I spent 3 days getting quotes from several travel ins companies. One company provided a quote for a CSA policy that was more than the quote I obtained directly from CSA. Just to be sure, I printed them out and reviewed side by side, to confirm everything was the same...and it was. Think about our car insurance. Different carriers can quote you a different price for the same exposures...that's business!
At any rate, glad you were able to get some good information and save some money for your trip!!
happy cruising to you!!

I believe you can board the ship as early as noon. You can check in, put the luggage in your cabin and get on & off ship during the day as much as you like. The last time there, we got a taxi right at the port and toured the island. There are a lot of nice shops and several restaurants within walking distance of the port. Check the port & excursion reviews on CC as well, for more specific reviews.
happy cruising!!
Question Concerning Staggered Check In
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted · Edited by cucruizin
I think it's available as soon as you book (ir very shortly thereafter). Not cruising until May 2017 but have already selected my check-in time.
