  1. On three trips out of Red Hook, I've never successfully paid the driver in time to even SEE my bags taken out of the trunk, the porters appear so quickly and grabs the bags. He will hang around long enough for his tip.

  2. Oh I welcome the vegetarian options.. Idea:cool:ly I would like much more vegetarian food to be available suggestion... like vegetarian sausages for breakfast!! and there should be at least Two vegetarian options at every alternative dining venue. Cunard is going in the right direction but needs to do even more for vegetarians I would need to see fantastic vegetarian food options in the Grills before I would book up to that level. Looking forward to being on Queen Victoria in Athens on Saturday!

Cunard does have vegetarian sausages at breakfast, at least with room service. I just write them on the order and have always gotten them.

  3. Indeed yes, someone's rate of pay is between them and their employer.

But you do not appear to be correct regarding US minimum wage. It varies by state, the lowest is Wyoming at $5.15 (£4) and the highest is DC at $11.50 (£8.90). The most common is around $7.50 (£5.80). So it's not anywhere near $2.

The rates you are quoting are not for people in service industries that include tipping. States have a lower minimum wage for servers. My husband gets paid 2.00 an hour as a waiter in Wisconsin. Pretty standard rate outside big cities.

  4. You won't have too much time for much touring. Customs can take a while on arrival and you'll be in Brooklyn, not Manhattan. Unless you do self disembarkation it could be mid to late morning before you are clear of the ship. Also, depending on your airport, you need to leave as much as an hour to get to the airport and be there 2 hours ahead of the flight to pass security.

  5. I've had these one day layovers at Heathrow and one option is to go to Hampton Court for the afternoon. There was a bus that left from in front of my Hotel (the Holiday Inn Ariel) that dropped me off right across from the palace' s main entrance. The ride was under an hour.

  6. If you live near Macy's they frequently have some good sales on Men's Formal Wear. But if you want a real buy, try to find a food service uniform supply shop--the places waiters purchase their clothing. They frequently have tuxes for around $100.00 and usually sell in separates (jacket and slacks) reducing the costs for possible alterations.
