most people refer to the “voucher” as the tearable coupon that comes in your benefit packet.  you get one platinum (or above) benefit packet printed on lightweight card stock, which is folded. contained within that benefit packet are two vouchers… each is good for one meal for two people. (one of those meals can include a bottle of wine, should you so desire.)

what you said was that that “if there's one platinum member in the cabin you get one voucher for 2 people.” if you think that means you get two dinner vouchers good for two dinners for two, no harm, no foul… but it doesn’t actually mean that. “one voucher for two people” means, well, that you’d get one voucher to be used for one meal for two people.

If you read all of the comments and not just singled in on one word it is quite clear exactly what I meant and at no time did I ever insinuate that it's just one meal for 2 people as a Platinum benefit.

As I stated it's quite obvious that it's a set. At no time was it ever in dispute that the platinum member is entitled to dining benefit and for the benefit he/she receives the paper in their cabin for one dinner for 2 + a bottle of wine and one dinner for two without a bottle of wine." My point was that both platinum members in the cabin earned that status and yet only one platinum member in the cabin gets that platinum benefit. They get it regardless of whether they are the only platinum member in the cabin or not. So essentially the 2nd platinum member is not getting a benefit that their status entitles them to receive if they are traveling in the same cabin as Platinum member #1 and that it's an odd rule.

You are obviously looking for a fight and I'm not going to give you one. I'm done here.

you have the basic concept down, but just to clarify… there are two “vouchers.” that’s the platinum benefit. so there are two vouchers, each good for a dinner for two people. if there are two platinum latitudes members in the same cabin you will get one set of two vouchers.

Yes, that is what I said... and I used the term "Voucher" because that is how it was referred to earlier in this thread when SpainAlien was kind enough to post the one they received in June and it's also the term that was used by the Norwegian rep I spoke to on the phone today. Obviously it's a set as the platinum member is entitled to one for a dinner for 2 + a bottle of wine and another for a dinner for two without a bottle of wine.

The dining package is really split.  Each dining credit is for one person only.  The first two passengers on a reservation both get a set each from free at sea.  If you buy additional, it's only for the person who purchased it.  So, you can present one credit (from your room card) and say "it's for the both of us".  the platinum vouchers, on the other hand, are for two people

I guess that's the part that confuses me - "platinum vouchers are for 2 people". Yet only one can be given per cabin. So if there's one platinum member in the cabin you get one voucher for 2 people and if there's two platinum members in the cabin you get the same one voucher for 2 people? If so, essentially the 2nd platinum member in the cabin is getting no additional benefit for being platinum...

The platinum vouchers are physical pieces of paper left in your cabin.  They’re good for two people, one with a bottle of wine.  You have to give them the voucher for it to be applied. The FAS is tied to your account and both in the cabin get them.  When you use them you tell the server that you’re using them.  If you use the platinum couches, it’s done.  Therefore, it makes more sense to use the FAS in the sushi restaurants where you get four “things”.  The sushi bar, Food Republic, the Raw Bar, etc.  that way one of you can use the FAS and share those four things.  If you use the platinum voucher you would each get four “things”.  We found it to be way too much food.  If we had used one FAS meal, we could have done it twice - sharing four “things” over two meals.

    hope that made sense.

Thank you so much! This does make sense now and I appreciate your explanation. FAS at Food Republic it is 🙂

Although to be honest I still don't understand why they would make the Platinum voucher for 2 people if only one in cabin is Platinum. Actually just spoke to Norwegian who said that even though we are both Platinum we only get one of the vouchers per cabin so essentially we are getting no more of a benefit than if one of us was Platinum which doesn't really seem quite right.

They are tightening up on it.  Same thing happened to us at Cagneys on the Breakaway in April.  1-1-1.

Another tip.  I would not use the Platinum voucher at the sushi bar or Food Republic.  At least for us, eight items was simply too much food!  Use your dining packages and split four items between the two of you, and go twice. 😃

I'm confused on this.. so you have to use the platinum voucher for 2 people but the dining packages can be split and you can use them one at a time? Even if you're both in the same cabin? Seems like it would be the other way around since both people in the cabin might not be platinum...

My wife and I have 14778 booked for our cruise in September.  I studied the Haven-level accommodations on NORWEGIAN JOY thoroughly when we planned the cruise and found the same wealth of positive info about both 14178 and 14778 (the suites are mirror images of each other).  I told our TA to book either one.

Fingers crossed that you and we have both made good choices.  I think we have.

What did you think of these cabins on the Joy? I have read many of your posts and respect your opinion. We are currently booked in 14800 and thinking of moving to this one for the angled balcony and wondering if there really is extra space.

  7. I'm going through this same decision right now and looks like I'm leaning towards 5190. It's a scenic itinerary and I think we'll spend a lot of time on the balcony.  To those of you who had these Neptune aft suites, are the cabins large enough inside for 3 people? Looks like the sofa bed is awful close to the regular bed from the pictures I've seen.

  8. Looking to book a suite on Diamond Princess. Saw that the Owner's suite B751 has obstructed view from a support beam? Is it really bad?  Should I get the Penthouse suite next to it - B753 - instead because of this? We normally really like aft cabin balconies for the view both ways and this is a scenic itinerary. The only other suites open are front of the ship and I heard those aren't good because of the wind factor and mid-ship.

  9. I saw on princess website you can bring 1.bottle of wine/champagne up to 750ml per person but can’t find anything on their policy for bringing onboard bottled water? Can you do that and if so what is the limit? Do you carry it on or check it in duffle or small suitcase?

I agree, this seems strange not to have lunch as a suite perk, but just wanted to note that the $20 (or whatever the Key costs) is per day.

Yes, that's correct that it's per day. Keep in mind though that most of the Navigator sailings are short cruises. This was a 3 day cruise so it was an insignificant amount added to a very inexpensive inside cabin. Suite prices on these sailings are quite significant in comparison.

I see that there continues to be confusion with whether you are offered lunch on embarkation as a suite guest on the Voyager or Freedom class ships.

EXTREMELY disappointed in Navigator of the Seas in respect to Suite guests! We were on Mariner of the Seas (sister ship out of Canaveral) end of May and on embarkation had a lovely lunch in the main dining room. We were just on Navigator out of Miami and went to the main dining room expecting the same. We were told to go to Chops. When we arrived at Chops we were told that there was nothing for suite guests and the offered lunch was only for those who purchased the Key. WOW! So you can book an inside cabin and pay the $20 or whatever the key costs for your sailing and get treated better than suite guests?!?

Thank you Whizbank for the great info! We have been on Navigator of the Seas before, just never from a wheelchair/scooter perspective so it's nice to hear your opinions. It is one of our favorite ships so it is perfect to get the family together to celebrate Mom's 90th birthday, I'm sure we'll have a great time!! Glad you enjoyed your first cruise!!

first thing is you need to make sure the scooter will fit thru the door of the cabin if you don't have a handicapped room. You cant leave it in the hall. If so then I would suggest renting her one so she will have more freedom.

Yes, we do have her in an accessible cabin already. She was thinking that she would be less dependent on us with a scooter I was just wondering if it would be hard to navigate around the ship and on and off in Nassau as well.

  14. We are taking a cruise soon on RCCL Navigator for my mother's 90th birthday. She is recently out of hospital and has some mobility issues. We were going to try and get a wheelchair but she wants an electric scooter so she has more independence on the ship. Has anyone used an electric scooter on Navigator? Is it doable?

If so, does anyone have any ideas on how we can get her one for the weekend cruise out of Port of Miami?

All mocktails are included in the Refreshment package on all ships, which includes virgin daiquiris, virgin margaritas, virgin pina coladas, etc.

I recommend buying the Refreshment package online in advance, it's often on sale for $20/day plus 18% gratuity.  (It's normally $26/day plus 18%.)  No Diamond discounts, unfortunately.

I don't know the price on Mariner, but a virgin daiquiri on Symphony in March was $9.95 plus 18%.

    Hope that helps a little.

It helps a lot! Thank you!!

Late last week, they added Coco Cay to the itinerary of the May 25th sailing of Symphony out of Miami (3 nights; we were supposed to be in Nassau on the 26th and at sea on the 27th, now it's Coco Cay on the 26th and Nassau on the 27th). They moved Mariner to the 25th so that they could get Symphony to the island on the 26th.

With the changes being so close to the sailings, I suspect it's an experiment in scheduling & pricing for the various amenities on the island.

Lucky you! It seems Symphony passengers are the only ones benefitting here as you now get to go to Coco Cay when your original cruise had an itinerary with a day at sea. Unfortunately, those of us on Mariner and Navigator who booked a cruise where we had an island to ourselves are now suffering because of these last minute itinerary changes.
