  1. Hi all. I am doing my first Caribbean and first marella cruise next month. So excited! Our flight home doesn’t leave until around 5pm. Can we stay onboard longer or will we be booted off? I don’t mind being out of the cabin but would be nice to chill out by the pool for a while. If we can stay onboard do we have to pay extra? Thank you

I’ll tell you what bugs me about the carpet sales situation is that we are paying full price for the tour.  Just to illustrate, I booked a trip to southeast Asia that was much much cheaper than what I could’ve booked it for on my own. But the reason it was so cheap is that there was going to be a lot of sales presentations to subsidize the cost of it, and I understood that, and was fine with it because the price was great.

But in the case of the carpet sales situation, they’re not giving you a price break, in so far as I could tell. What I would rather have them do is say look if you sit through the carpet presentation, we will knock 25 bucks or 50 bucks off or something, but they don’t do that.

The carpets are pretty, and I don’t doubt that there’s a lot of labor involved, but I personally am not looking to spend $10,000 or $20,000 for a rug.  And they kept calling them investments, but I work for one of the big Wall Street firms, and I personally don’t feel that these are great investments. Maybe I’m wrong.

The carpet thing is really putting me off. I have seen a few excursions that say you can walk back to ship if you don’t want to do the carpet stop. I wander how true this this is.

  3. Hi everyone. Thinking about booking a transatlantic from Rome on 4th December. We are from the UK and NCL have a package with flights included. Has anyone booked flights with them. Also I would prefer to fly in day before & possibly spend a few days in New York at the end. Can I book pre/post cruise hotels with NCL. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

Today we went to the home of Virgin Mary, which was interesting, but smaller than I expected. Next, we visited the ruins at Ephesus, and now we are having a lunch at a nice hotel, and the Turkish food is very good.

I am told that the weather is nice, there’s barely a cloud in the sky, but it was still pretty warm at Ephesus. Still, our tour guide said it’s cooler than usual.

Enjoying your regular updates. Which excursion was this and did it involve a stop at a carpet factory? Thanks

  5. We are booked on an Alaska cruise in September from Vancouver. This was a lift and shift as we were supposed to go in 2020.  We haven’t heard anything from RC. Is this normal? Normally there would be emails with excursion, drinks package deals but nothing. Anyone else in the same position. Thank you

  6. Hi all.  Just wandering if anyone is booked on an Alaskan cruise next year. We are booked for September and flights are now available.  To book a refundable flight it is very expensive. We can get a free change if we pay a bit extra. We have only paid a deposit (which was a lift & shift from this year). Should we take a chance & book flights or lose the deposit?  Also was planning on staying 3 nights in Vancouver pre cruise. Suggestions for mid range price hotels? Many thanks

If I were you I would certainly go for insurance. Insurance makes your life easier myfriend. Moreover, it makes the life of the crew and co-passangers easy as noone has to worry about you getting in trouble. I hope everything goes well with you anyway but please dont forget about plan B (insurance)

I wouldn’t go anywhere without insurance. Just doing plenty of research beforehand. Want to make sure I’m covered for everything and don’t miss anything in the small print!

Someone on my FB group has found that Get Cover will insure you for EU cruises. I emailed them and they confirmed this-I will still ring to confirm though

Quote below from the reply I received:

    Hi,

If you are purchasing direct through the GetCover.com website then we can cover single trip cruises to European destinations. We cannot cover worldwide destinations if there is travel advice against any of the countries that have ports of call on the cruise.

Please be aware there would be no cover for either scenario if purchasing a GetCover policy through a comparison site.

Please visit www.getcover.com for more information.

Have also seen this on their website.

    • If you travel to places where the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office have advised against all (or all but essential) travel, then we won’t cover you being there, with the exception of European Single trip policies, when the FCDO advice is solely in relation to Coronavirus.

  9. Due to sail in September from the uk. Feeling abit more optimistic about it now.  20% capacity isn’t not very much but hopefully that will increase in time,

I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind

what is the mask policy on board? Is it inside & outside

Are they testing everyone that arrives at the airport? I thought if you were double jabbed that was all that was needed.

For dining are you at a table with others or just your own party?

Thank you. Enjoy your cruise & keep us posted!!
