My first cruise was in 2004 on Rhapsody. The itinerary was Key West, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman. Spent my 40th birthday in Key West hanging out with some of the crew at a bar there. Enjoyed all the stops. I think the ship is a good size for a first cruise since it's smaller.

I've been to St. Lucia and Barbados and enjoyed both. We cruised a while back and had 5 days in a row at one port or another in the Caribbean. One morning I looked out the window after we arrived in port and asked my wife if we had really moved - some of the ports look similar. After a few days, I was ready for some sea days but still enjoyed the ports.

    This is helpful, thanks!

Eat and drink in excess.  Sleep in and stay up late.  Take lots of pictures but not so many that you impede your enjoyment and experience exploring your great ports of call.  Tip well. Don't buy the photo package. Try a different drink every day. Climb the rock wall. Get a Kummelweck sandwich from Park Cafe. Don't buy art at Park West's art auction. Get a massage. Eat and drink in excess. 😉

    Thanks!

  3. My family of four (hubby with two kids, 11 and 9) are headed to HMC and Nassau in November for 5 nights out of Jacksonville via elafion. The day we arrive in HMC is my 40th so we reserved a little Cabana.

For anyone who has ever reserved one what are the pros and cons of the locations? I was thinking to reserve #7, 8, 6, 9, or 10 in order of preference. We want to hear music from the pirate ship but don’t want to be fully engulfed in crowds. We want bathroom facilities fairly close and a bar not too far away.

I'd do 8,9 or 10. 6 and 7 will have quite a crowd in front of them.

we got cabana 11 as we wanted to be within a 5 minute walk to the bathrooms and lunch buffet. the crowd thins out after cabana 7.

  4. Was just on the ship and it looks great!

Loved the new theatre shows (they were awesome), Guy's Burger and the Red Frog Rum Bar. The ship is in great shape and the updated deco (all cabins newly done) is great.

The crew is good and we really enjoyed our time!

  5. May I ask what it was about the MDR dinner food that made it suck?

    Thanks!

something was wrong with our steak and prime rib on different nights that made both my wife and I sick. We ended up skipping the MDR and doing the Lido Buffet and Guy's Burger and the food tasted better and didn't make us sick the remaining days of the cruise. sorry, but if the steak taste off or the prime rib taste off and both of us are sick on different nights, something is clearly wrong.

  6. Updates noted in official press release that the
