Thanks so much for your review! We are sailing on the escape in January & reading this has got me excited all over again! We sailed for 2 weeks in the summer & managed to get vibe passes for both weeks......so planning to arrive early & get them again this time! I think its a case of once u get vibe there is no going back! The staff are awesome :) We missed lots of the daytime poolside activities last time as we seemed to spend too much time in vibe, but hoping to do more of that this time....if I can tear myself away from the mudslides & fruit skewers!! Looking forward to hearing your last few comments :)

Hi, we're on the same TA Getaway cruise in April. We booked a BX in June and found our cabin assignment 3 weeks ago on MyNCL. We're really okay with a mid-ship angled balcony on Deck 12 but, of course, there's always a spa balcony to dream of (with a little bit of luck). Balconies have been sold out for quite a while but some will drop out when final payment is due and you could get a balcony or ov. Will cross my fingers for both of us on good upsells!

Sorry, I think I have confused things, the guarantee inside we have booked is for January on the escape....so not long to go. Me & my mum have a studio room booked each on the TA, I did think about trying to upgrade but that sailing seems like a very popular one so I doubt we will now! But we have connecting cabins so that will be nice. It's our first TA too so we're excited! And my mum has never stayed in a studio b4 so I'm hoping she will like it! Good luck with your upgrade though, will keep my fingers crossed for you :) it would be nice to log on & get a nice upgrade surprise one day!

Don't be in a hurry. You get a better upgrade closer to the sail date. We booked a balcony guarantee 12 days out on our cruise on the Getaway and received our room 2 days later. We landed up with an aft balcony on the 9th deck with a huge balcony. We talked to someone else on board who booked a week out and they also got an aft balcony. They don't assign those good rooms until close to sail date.

Oh my word, I would LOVE an aft balcony! Sounds amazing! I will leave it until close to sail date, fingers crossed the ship won't sell out then we might have a good chance! Thank you for your advice :)

If you're on the 1/15 cruise, you're right. I see the prices for balcony went up. Actually, it went up today! I would check around 2-3 weeks before embarking. That's when the prices for my cruise started to go down I assume because rooms weren't filling fast enough.

Did you book via NCL? I booked a Balcony Guarantee and the price dropped significantly, so much so that the Mini-Suite Guarantee was lower than what I paid. I called NCL up and they switched me to Mini-Suite Guarantee for no cost. If you booked via NCL or PCC and the price dropped, then call them up and give it a try.

Thanks for your help. We have booked direct with NCL but in the uk, and we don't seem to get price drops like in the US? I am keeping an eye though & will call them a week or 2 before to see if anything is available. We are happy with an inside but a balcony would be a bonus if we could get one! At the moment the balcony price seems to be going up if anything!

We booked an inside guarantee on the escape.....they have already given us our cabin which is an inside straight after we booked. is there any chance we could still get upgraded nearer the time? Or is this definitely our cabin now. I've always picked my cabin b4 so not really sure how guarantee works after you have been given your cabin number! Any info would be great :) just living in hope!

The sailing I booked is March 8th, 2017 Bahamas cruise out of Port Canaveral.

My trip was a Barcelona round trip, but I'm sure yours will be just as great. If not better seeing as it's Bahamas! If you want to meet other solo's I'm sure they will still do the solo meet up at 6pm in the solo lounge too. It will be a great time :)

Hi, I sailed a 3 night cruise on the epic about 3 years ago in the med, it was great! Really good party atmosphere as lots of younger people onboard. So good that I book a week solo cruise on the same ship later! Is it Caribbean or med? I noticed there was a 3 night cruise next April from Barcelona

I made it to a dinner! I couldn't be a member of CC without checking out Food Republic while on the Escape! While I liked the food I wasn't completely wow'd. To be honest though my eating habits were WAY off on this cruise. I ate so little and didn't have a huge appetite.

 

I really liked everything but it didn't know my socks off.

 

I actually got dressed up pretty nicely that night but didn't get a full body picture. This was the night I got the backhanded compliment from guest services that I looked a lot better in person than on my cruise card [emoji23] (I had left my card at Food republic and by the time I remembered they had sent it down somewhere).

 

We first met in The District because me A, Seamus/J and Gemma had thought we would ordered appetizers from the menu there. A basically never ate at sit down places. Gemma and I decided we didn't want what they had there and said screw it and walked over to FR. We didn't feel like waiting for a table so we sat at the bar top.

 

Me being vain while Gemma and Seamus/J look at what to eat. J was a lot pickier than Gemma and I.

I'll actually take a quick moment to mention how amazing Gemma was to me on this trip. The group were all connected in various ways and most of which were because of her. I see why now. She was wonderful at making me feel included in the group. The two previous days I had felt like an outsider and this day is when I finally felt like I was a part of things.

 

Anyways back to the review. We had decided we would each order two things, which we did. But then when we were looking more at the menu we kept finding interesting things to try so I think we ended up with 3 each? Unfortunately some of it had to go to waste :(

Aaawww thanks for your lovely words vic, I'm glad that u felt part of the group. We all know what it's like to cruise solo, as that's how we first met! My first solo cruise would have been awful if the people I'd met hadn't been so friendly. Meeting new people is one of my fav things about cruising!

Just wanted to say as well, anyone going on the escape & thinking of going to food republic totally needs to check it out! I loved loved loved it here, just disappointed I didn't get to try EVERY dish! Lol. The buffalo shrimp sushi & the chicken teriyaki were especially good!

Also I don't remember taking the selfie on your phone with piano guy haha! He was great too, my highlight that night was asking him to play Coldplay & he chose 'yellow' which happens to be my fav song :) I really enjoyed the brewhouse that night & was kinda disappointed I hadn't spent more time in their during the cruise. Maybe next time!! [emoji16]

I wish we could! Yes, without Vibe and the rest of the crew, it would be a lackluster event. The only saving grace would be the company of my wife and the bartenders in Vibe! They are simply the best. Rommel, Roberto and Renzi really made the trip for us. They are truly professionals at their craft.

Totally agree!! Those guys are awesome! Totally made the holiday :) Not forgetting kirt (not sure if that's how u spell it) he was great too! I need them in my every day life lol

Yeah I'm doing the 14 nights so we'll be on there for your 6 night trip too :) if u make sure u visit the solo meet up on your first night you will meet plenty of others & everyone is so friendly. I was so worried on my first solo cruise that I wouldn't meet anyone but I had such a great time! Is this your first solo trip? I will happily meet u on your first day if that helps :)

It's great to be reading one of your reviews again.....u are the main reason I plucked up the courage to do my first solo cruise a year ago on the epic, after reading your awesome reviews & it was the best thing I ever did! :) so thank u so much for that. I am heading off on a reunion cruise next week on the escape with the solo's I met last year.....and I just have a question.....I noticed u wore shorts to Moderno? Is this allowed now? Last year we had to go to Taste rather than Manhattan as a couple of people had shorts on, so I assumed u couldn't wear them in the speciality restaurants either. It looks like u got away with it tho, if I could wear a pair of dressy shorts a couple of the nights I would be so happy! Altho I have bought a ridiculous amount of skirts now ;) I am also in 2 minds whether to take my wedges now after seeing you in yours! :)) can't wait for the rest of your review & congratulations on meeting your soul mate & getting married!! X

I may chance it for the first 8 & if it's really crowded try & get a pass for the last 6. Vibe does look great & I loved posh on the epic! Was definitely worth the money :)

Please could somebody tell me how much a vibe pass is for 2 weeks on the escape? And also if it's a b2b (we are doing 8 & 6 nights together) can you just purchase the pass for the first or second part or would you have to purchase it for the whole 2 weeks? Just weighing up the options for our July cruise!
