Access to the suite lounge, suite concierge, suite deck.  Free wiffi and other suite perks- priority boarding and disembarkation- more crown and anchor points.  Other perks that I have forgotten.  But the grand suites are very nice.  Having the Costal Kitchen available for lunch and breakfast is a great advantage, IMO.

How does priority embarkation work with Covid and enforcement of check in time?  I thought I read somewhere and now can't find it, that Sky class and above can arrive 1 hr before your scheduled time?

Does anyone know if there are Gluten free options in the complimentary restaurants?

Do they have a Gluten free pizza?

    thanks

Our DD has Celiac and we've done RCCL and Disney.  Both cruise lines have been wonderful.  But each handle it differently.  First question, are you GF for Celiac or for preference?  If Celiac make sure to fill out the special services forms in advance.  For Celiac our pre-Covid strategy has always been to meet with the Windjammer manager on embarkation day.  They would introduce us to the head Chef and take us on a mini tour telling us what is OK to take directly from the buffet and what they could do in the back.  Plan some extra time for dining since some things have to be specialty made.  MDR is chaotic the first night, but after that they know the routine.  We would pre-order dinner the night before.  Overall the crew really went above and beyond to make sure things were safe and she never went hungry!  A memorable example, one day my DD got very sad that she couldn't eat the ice cream from the soft serve machine.  We went into the Windjammer, saw our usual contact, he reiterated that we should not go anywhere near the soft serve machine.  He told us to give him a few minutes and he came back with a big sundae in a bowl for her that he took everything fresh from the supply room!

It blows my mind.  I work in IT and we develop software.  When we have a deployment, it is scheduled starting at midnight and we need to be done no later than 5am with systems back up and running.  We don't develop during this time and "figure things out".  We are simply deploying the changes and validating that everything looks good.  Minimal downtime, and when people aren't affected.

Not sure if you were on the Quantum during launch, but what a miserable technological failure.  Worst RCCL cruise we've ever been on!  We've avoided the Anthem as well for that very reason, and it's right in our backyard.  I'd rather fly to Florida.  But we're taking a leap of faith next year to try the Anthem!

It’s been a week since I got the e-mail, but nothing since.

No further e-mail, my cruise date has not re-appeared for bookings, and I still can’t log into my sailing on the app.

The IT dept def is not on the ball with this...

They've always had a horrible IT department.  I look at the Quantum launch which was supposed to be a technological marvel.  It was one of the most messed up ship launches in the company's history.  I'm sure they lost loyal customers.  They came very close to losing us, but two years later we decided to give them another shot.  Their IT department is costing them customers.

Partial charters and big groups can be a pain too. One sailing we were on Allure with a big group and on a beautiful sea day they shut down the solarium at 2 or 3 PM for the group to have a group function. That is probably the most intrusive use of a public venue that I have ever encountered by a group. I think it was a very poor decision on the part of the ship's staff.

We were on a bad partial charter once too, on MSC it was a Heavy Metal partial charter.  It was absolutely terrible.  Our DD was an infant at the time and we couldn't sleep.  We complained and the response from Guest Services was "It's their Cruise too"  I wrote to the CEO afterwards and he was even less empathetic (such a lousy operation the actual CEO responded to me, not his admin or some exec customer service).  They had the nerve to send me a voucher for a future cruise!  That went right in the trash and we have never set foot on another MSC ship, we also tell all our friends how bad they are!

  6. Probably part of this reprogramming issue is because the Mariner and the Navigator will have the exact same ports of calls at the same time.  So RCCL IT needs to figure out how to program excursion inventory to be available at the same time on two sailings.  So I guess it's easier to take down the sailings for new bookings during the process than complicate matters by having things change with new reservations.

Never mind... I googled it.  It's Miami Pride cruise...

Yes that's the charter I saw.  But my app does say the double stop like the Mariner.  And it's odd because if you try and book a new cruise for that same date both the Mariner and Navigator are unavailable.  And on the Miami Pride cruise website it does not list the double stop.  I'm crossing my fingers that it's tied up with the Mariner double stop.  I wouldn't mind that!

  8. I haven't been officially notified, but I believe my Navigator 4 night on April 6, 2020 is being canceled due to a charter.  I logged into the app this morning to see if excursions were available and it said that I can't use the app for a charter!  Logged into the website and getting all sorts of errors.  Then googled the ship and sail date and found it listed on a website that does charters.

So a quick search online and I am finding that RCCL is terrible at accommodating guests when they cancel your sailing for a charter.  Other experiences?  I had already booked air because United had the saver fares available and I couldn't pass it up since that is spring break week in NJ.  What should I expect from RCCL and what should I request?  There is an Adventure of the Seas sailing, but the price is double what we have on the Navigator.  Luckily I do have travel insurance so they would probably pick up the United cancel feel if RCCL offers nothing.  We did not yet have a roll call for this sailing, so nobody to ask in that group!  Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

  9. You got it because you touched something then put your hands to your mouth without washing your hands.

If WE refrain from doing that then we don't have to worry about what other people are doing. Simple. I'm not going to run around telling on people when I can control what goes in my mouth. If I get it, ultimately I was to blame.

And if the person in front of me at the Windjammer did not wash their hands, touched the tongs to contaminate them it is my fault?

  10. We just got off the Harmony on Saturday. I came down with Noro symptoms on Sunday. Dr. said I likely got it from traveling which would narrow things down to either the Harmony or American Airlines. Since they cannot isolate the source, just be careful if you are on an upcoming sailing. I am not trying to start any alarms, just want everyone to be safe. If you see guests or crew not washing their hands in public facilities make sure to let an officer know. I did witness a crew member not wash their hands after using the bathroom, but could not get their name before they tucked into a crew area.

  11. Actually, far more Uber drivers are arrested per capita. One of the biggest issues in the uber/taxi wars is the perceived unfairness of the added hurdles for licensure to drive a taxi (including, in most major cities, a criminal background check). Also of significant concern is lesser standards for inspection of the uber vehicles.

    Please post your source

  12. The shuttles won't go there. Could take the shuttle to the airport, then cab it to the cruise port. Cab should be less than $10.

The large lot across the street has been greatly reduced as another hotel is being built on the property.

Park and Go will actually shuttle passengers to the pier. Just not if you are sailing on Disney.

  13. I know this thread is a couple months old. But beware, Park and Go will not service all sailings out of San Diego. I was just emailed that they will only service Celebrity and Holland America sailings. Everyone else is out of luck. So we'll be parking at the Wyndham which happens to be the same price.
