  1. But shouldn't their package be superior to other lines if it's an upscale cruise line? I expect nonsense from Carnival or NCL, but Celebrity is supposed to be a notch above.
  2. I just got the e-mail as well. Going the way of NCL leaves a bad taste in my mouth. At the end of the day it will come down to pricing for me. NCL lost bookings from me, and Celebrity may as well. Basic rates are already cheaper on HAL and Princess. I'm departing in 2 weeks and was going to put down a future cruise deposit while on board, but now I'm not so sure.
  3. You're doing consumer math, not corporate math. The "price" of the perks are not significantly unequal now. Celebrity isn't paying retail prices on booze or other drinks for that matter. It's quite cheap for them to pour a drink, no matter the brand. If Celebrity goes NCL style, I'll be very disappointed.
  4. I think it's good that they listen and are responding to feedback. You could have Frank Del Rio who clearly has earplugs in 24/7.
  5. You definitely won't make the show, but I do believe if you go to the MDR on the first day and ask to move to Select with a 5:30 PM reservation, you have a very good chance of getting that. They will probably request that you do show up at that time, though. If you eat at 5:30 you'll easily make the 7 PM show.
  6. I would echo the others to get a passport book. Even with it in writing I would be nervous. What prompted them to tell you about having a book in the first place?
  7. I must be unlucky, but the first night in the MDR has never been very good.
  8. Thanks all for the info, I didn't realize they're stopping the program on Sky/Sun!
  9. Hi, I can't seem to find whether drinks are included for those booking Sailaway rates on NCL Sky (and Sun when they do drinks for everyone.) Does anyone know? Thanks!
  10. I agree. There's always a "gotcha" with NCL. Besides the extra charge to select the "free" beverage and specialty dining package, the $50 per port shore excursion credit is just that- $50 per port. If you don't use $50 in one port, it doesn't carry to the next. I also don't like how the beverage package doesn't include water, coffee, tea, etc. When I sailed NCL it was fine since I brought on my own water, but now that's banned.
  11. Thanks for the review! I think Edge looks great in many ways, much of which you liked, but the IV is really a big turnoff. At the price they want for the ship, it's just not worth it at this point. I do think (like others have said) this would be a great ship to sail Alaska on.
  12. I also do Select. The great thing about a table for 2 is that yes, they are rather close, but since you're there as a 2 top, I don't feel obligated to carry on a conversation the whole meal. Sometimes that does happen but if you're seat next to some duds, you don't have to force it, and can also get a different table (without hurting any feelings) just in case the duds happen to have reservations and are seated in the same spot every night.
  13. I sailed a 9 night itinerary on Equinox last year, and the ship was dead by 10 PM. Barely a soul out and about. I just sailed Summit and have to say there was more going on there. There was more live music than Equinox. Personally, I think you'll be disappointed with Equinox because of the nightlife factor. It's odd to me that Celebrity fails so miserably in the nightlife department. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
  14. Last Summit cruise (November 2018) they no longer served 1 liter bottles of Evian or any water for that matter. The only way to get the 1 liter was to buy the bottle in your cabin.
  15. In December you should still be okay for water activities in Key West and Cozumel. It'll be chillier than STM and SJ, but still doable. Most of the time you don't really have to worry about a strong cold front hitting KW in December, either. I think both are good, but you're right to do western if you want more time off the boat.
