  1. Older post exist with this info : Only one Silhouette sailing is affected by this change from FLL to MIA. March 11, 2018

On March 18, 2018 she will disembark passengers at MIA then sail to FLL. March 18, 2018 embarking @ FLL is delayed

The March 4 sailing of the Silhouette will be from Miami. The ship will reposition from FLL to Miami that morning and will sail from Miami at 7:00 p.m. The March 11 cruise will also sail from Miami, then on the 18th the ship will reposition back to FLL.

  2. How ethical is it to increase the daily gratuity rate after final payment as Celebrity has just done. I signed on at $13.50 per day and now I am told it's $14.50. Will the upcoming 29 day cruise $29.00) break me, no, but so far I have kept my side of the contract, paid everything as agreed upon, should not Celebrity be as ethical I am ?

Think about it, will I get on board with a chip on my shoulder, probably ! Who suffers, the crew, morale??

Please don't tell me about the fine print !!! Can I cancel and get full payment back, doubt it.

It should have been grandfathered to all who have made final payment on any of their cruises.

    " You can't fix stupid !"

Chill out, if you have already paid your gratuities you are covered. If not, you have up to the time of your departure to pay at the current rate. If you wait and pay during your cruise you will be charged the higher rate. What can be fairer. Now, go enjoy your cruise !

  3. Hi all,

I'm booking a last minute holiday cruise on the silhouette. Was planing on booking in aqua as I have always loved the more intimate feel of Blu. Haven't cruised in 2 years, and getting nervous about all the reviews regarding blu not being what it used to be. I could get a sunset veranda off the aft for $100 $/pp cheaper. Have always been envious of those big balconies off the aft.....just wondering has anyone sailed in these cabins and if so, are the balconies much bigger than an aqua balcony?

    Thanks!

    Kathleem27

I wouldn’t let comments about Blu stop you from Aqua, was very nice on our last cruise. Food critics are a dime a dozen.

  4. Wow! A few thousand dollars for a cruise and a $15 bottle of wine is not in the cabin. Oh No! :loudcry: QUICK! :eek:Before a simple query to the cabin attendant, get a posting off on Cruise Critic asking strangers thousands of miles from the scene. Amazing!

So, that's all you had to do is be sarcastic, hope you have a better day today. Please, ruin your own day, not somebody else.

  5. As much as I dislike saying this, it appears Celebrity Edge maybe sinking before even getting launched. I've sailed on enough cruises, mostly Celebrity to know this type of atmosphere is not what cruisers are wanting, Celebrity tried something similar in the past and it failed miserably. All the glitz and glamour isn't necessarily going to make for a good cruise experience, if they truly consulted with their passengers before going in this direction, I would be surprised, this certainly isn't how they became successful. Their dining experience was at onetime the best in the business, and their attention to detail along with outstanding service made them popular. They should consider what made them so popular and focus on that, not this glitz and glamour stuff.

  6. Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize this was a first for Celebrity. Guess that is why I haven't been able to find reviews, ha. I will keep checking after the 2017 cruise. I think we will put a deposit down for the 2018 cruise, sounds like prices only go up. :)

Not the first Celebrity, the Equinox did this same cruise for Mardi Gras this year.

  7. We had Sue as our CD on a recent cruise and could not have been less impressed. Her ego was massive, and her 'show' was like something you'd see on Saturday Night Live. It's nice that there is something for everyone on Celebrity, and we'll happily leave Sue for others.

You are very much entitled to your opinion, however in taking almost thirty cruises in would rate her and Richard Spacey as the best two CD's on any ship, they really make the cruise fun and are very personable .

  8. There is no additional gratutity charged on the drink package. Having said that the perks are not free; they have been built into the fare you paid. Sometimes you can opt not to book with the perks and the rate is lower

We were just looking at a 7 night Summitt and a Veranda with 2 perks started at $2049. When I looked at other pricing options the price without perks and either a senior or resident rate was $900 per person less.

Price the cost of the perks and back that out of the fare, I think you will see you have a pretty good deal compared to similar cruise on another line

  9. For once, we're stumped and not sure what to do at these ports, it's our first time to all of these! We enjoy sand, drinks and shopping. Not into sightseeing or being stuck in a bus with a huge group.

    Aruba: ?

    Curacao:?

Bonaire: I rented a golf cart, now what?

    Key West: ?

    Thanks everyone!

p.s. We've already been to Caymans and the HELL, so don't tell us to go there! ;)

Key West, take the trolley tour to see the sights, then go bar hoping near the ship

Been to Curaçao many times, walk the camel, take in the shops and enjoy the island flavor near the ship, or got to a resort for the day.

I've lived in Aruba, rent a car and see the island, be sure to go to Baby Beach, it's really nice and no crowds, very serene.

We did the train excursion several weeks ago in St. Kitts! It was terrific. Good way to see the island in a unique way.

  13. We were on the 2nd Reflection cruise in October 2012 from Barcelona to Venice. Celebrity had taken ownership of her just 9 days prior.

This cruise was one of the best we have ever taken. It was truly impressive to walk aboard and smell that "new ship" smell. There was definitely a unique, and pleasant, smell around her - part fresh paint, part new upholstery, part clean and fresh smell. Everything was spotless with not a single scratch, ding, rust spot, or stain anywhere.

The crew were just as excited as we were, clearly proud to be on the newest Celebrity ship. And it was very exciting to be some of the first people to experience and see what this magnificent ship looked like. It was the perfect 14 day cruise. A truly a memorable experience.

We were on the second sailing of the Solstice and it was a terrific cruise. They put their best crew on the new ships and it shows.

  14. Was having a conversation about this with my daughter. We'll be sailing together on Reflection in April. We're in an S1 (2109) on deck 12 that's probably the highest up and farthest forward we've ever been. We actually enjoy the movement, and don't mind if the seas are a little rough.

I know there are lots of Aft lovers out there. Curious how many enjoy being forward.

We much prefer to be forward, seems quieter and on the S class ships you don't have the life boats below, easier Port view. Especially nice for Aqua class with Spa and gym nearby plus lounge up front.

  15. I know it might be either but anyone know commonly what side of Silhouette the gangplank (gangway) normally is? The reflection always seemed to be the same side but curious none the less. Thanks!

It is always on the Port side in Port Everglades, after that it could be on either side depending on the port and what maintenance or fueling they may be doing.

  16. I usually cruise with Princess but always thought Celebrity was a class above. We are about to book a cruise with Celebrity April 2018 but have been put off by negative reviews about the drop in standards. Princess standards have dropped that is one of the reasons for change. Should I go ahead and book

We have cruised both lines many times and definitely enjoy Celebrity a great deal more. Nothing wrong with Princess, but Celebrity just has a nicer appearance, great service throughout and seems more relaxed.

  17. We are sailing out of Miami and looking for recommendations for parking. We usually pay the extra and park right at the cruise ship terminal because we need to hit the road very early. We self-disembark and need to leave as early as possible. Is this still the best option for us, or is there an off-site parking place that is extremely efficient in getting people out as fast as possible?

Also, am I missing it on Celebrity's website, or is there a spot on their site that tells directions to the port or an address where to go?!

Just sailed Reflection two weeks ago. Getting to the port using the I-395 tunnel is by far the best way to go. Exiting the tunnel the signs to terminal 18 are very good. Dropped my wife off at the curb with checked luggage, then followed the signs around the garage to the entrance and found plenty of parking spaces. Arrived about 11:00 and were in the buffet within 30 minutes.

First in line at 6:15 for debarkation as we had 700 miles to drive. Off the ship at 6:45, out of parking garage and on our way at 7:00. Couldn't ask for more.

  18. Went on Reflection Jan. 21, very easy to reach terminal using I-395 tunnel entrance. Parked and on the ship within thirty minutes. Debarkation the following week, we were first in line for self debarkation at 6:15, off the ship at 6:45, exited the parking garage at 7:00. Very easy.

  19. So much really interesting things to see in St. Pete and you are going to do a shopping tour and a canal trip? I would rethink those choices.

    DON

I fully agree with the above statement, in all my years of cruising this is the most interesting place we ever visited, so much to see. We stayed two days and could have used a couple more days, don't waste your time shopping, you can do that anywhere and will have time to pickup a few things on a sight seeing tour. We used a private tour company and were well pleased with the guide, driver and tour.
