  1. I don't get it...every other tourist attraction (Disney, other cruise lines, gift shops in tourist beach destinations, fake "outlet malls", etc) all have overpriced merchandise you can get cheaper elsewhere and at home.  Why let it bother you so much?  It isn't just Carnival.  Nobody is forcing you to buy it.  If you need a purse that badly, get it at a Walmart in port.

Thank you!  My husband is eligible for a separate rate code than I am, so if we split me and him up on the reservation, I get $500 OBC and he will get an additional $200 OBC plus free casino drinks.  If we combine us both in one room and give the kids their own rooms on paper, then we forego that extra OBC and the free drinks.  But good to know about the boys being anywhere.  I'm sure they'd rather be on their own deck away from us, haha.  They're easy, mature kids, so I'm not worried about them being loud jerks or getting in trouble.

  3. Hi there!

I probably need to call CCL and ask, but I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone knows.  My husband and I are planning a Spring Break cruise for us and our 5 kids who range in age from 14 - 20 (14 year old boy, two 16 year old girls and the two 20 year old boys (I should say men...haha).   This will more than likely be our last family vacay as the 7 of us, as the kids are getting older and serious girlfriends are emerging (yikes!).  We would ideally like to get three rooms...but with my husband and I being the only two adults over the age of 21 at time of sail, will it be an option to assign our two 20 year old boys to their own room on the reservation therefore allowing us to get three rooms?  I'd like to have the reservation show a room with myself and two girls, my husband with the youngest and then the older boys in their own room, so 3/2/2 break out in rooms...then obviously switch everyone out on board to have my husband and I alone in a room, the three youngest in a room next door or as close as possible and the older boys in the third room.  I see the rule is 21 and over to sail "alone", but since they aren't technically alone but accompanied by us and on our reservation, can they be assigned to their own room?  If not, then I guess we'll just have to do two rooms (which will be a tight fit).

  4. The key is to get any medication you take in your system BEFORE you feel sick.  If you feel sick, it's too late.  So I always start taking one Bonine the morning before I board, then I take another right before going to bed. I can then maintain it in my system by taking one before bed every day.  I've never had an issue so far!

I tried a "natural" seasickness patch that was highly recommended on Amazon on my last cruise.  I was fine on embarkation day, but started feeling super tired that night.  By the next morning I was out of it.  I felt drugged and I couldn't figure out why...I thought maybe I was just tired from travel??  Most of our first sea day I had to lie down and felt like my head was too heavy to lift off the pillow...but not nauseous like seasickness.  Then it dawned on me I was wearing that stupid patch!  I ripped it off and literally within a half hour I was feeling better.  Who knows, may have been all in my head...but I swore off those patches from then on.  Bonine for me!

  5. Thanks for posting about this!  I had no idea this existed.  Found all the info just now on the CCL site and sent it to my mom.  We're cruising with my parents and they just don't drink enough to justify the cheers package, but a selection of 5 bottles will do them nicely for dinner!

But neither of these are like Nachi Cocom of Cozumel! The poster will be disappointed if he were to go there as they asked a specific question and these places go not even come close to what they asked about.

My original post also asked if La Palapa was as good as I remembered it being, and they answered that part of my questions.  But thank you!

  7. Hi all!  Cruising the 8 day Mex Riviera on Carnival Panorama Oct 7 2023 with my parents (celebrating their 50th anny!!).  Husband and I are frequent cruisers, but never cruised the Mex Riviera.  Is there anything similar to Cozumel's Nachi Cocom in Cabo, La Paz or Mazatlan?  A quiet beach day (not a loud music, party atmosphere...because parents 😇), prefer all inclusive?

I've been to PV in the past and LOVED IT.  I plan to show them the Zona Romantica, the Malecon, do shopping and eating and enjoying the beautiful town.  On a side note...is La Palapa in PV still amazing?  Best night ever was spent at a beach table at that beautiful restaurant.  Our day in PV is their actual anniversary, and I'd love to do an early dinner there.  Our ship is in port until 8...so I think we'd be able to do it.

I know that each passenger is allowed to bring on one case of cokes per person, but what about snack items? I will be cruising my two children (3 and 7) and thought about bringing on individual bags of snacks (or even larger bags and splitting them into sandwich baggies) in our suitcases for them when we are in the room or out on excursions. Has anyone ever had an issue with this?

Never had an issue bringing snacks.  I bring them in my big purse or the backpack when checking in at the port.

  9. A woman who pushed a small dog in a stroller, literally everywhere.  And the dog and the stroller were color coordinated in elaborate outfits and decorations.  If the dog had on a frilly yellow dress and bonnet, the stroller was decked out in yellow flowers, etc.  Pink dress...pink stroller.  Every day a different elaborate outfit.  And if you were lucky enough to be stuck in an elevator with them while she fluffed and primped the poor thing, that little dog would just stare at you...like he was pleading for help.

Exactly, and that's what I'm planning to do!  I was just wondering if Carnival's site will only accept the cruiser #3 fare payment on the site, or if I can adjust the amount I pay to them.  If not, I'll be reimbursing the other 2 cruisers the difference...no question of sharing the costs equally...just want to know the best logistics of doing it.

No, you can pay any amount you choose.  You can log on and pay $25 a month until you reach your fair share...or you can pay for the entire cruise for all three of you.  The site doesn't limit anyone how much they pay with regards to cruise fares and what person # they are in the room.

We had the new menu on the Vista last month... note that the French toast is more like a serving of bread pudding- it's a 4 inch by 4 inch block of French bread... not bad, just different.

As for the OJ, I was puzzled about this as I'm not about to pay $5 for 'fresh squeezed juices'. My server, her helper and the bar staff all told me that you can still get the plain OJ at no cost if you ask for it. It's just not on the menu.

I think they're marketing the pressed juices similar to what you'd find at a cold press juice bar.  Like the  #1 is carrot, ginger, lime, cayenne.  #5 is apple, kale, spinach, parsley (a green juice).   $5 is still high, but it isn't just OJ.

I was having issues on Wednesday. I tried to purchase 2 - $500 & 4 - $100 and it wouldn't let me put my state in. I decided to try from my phone (as opposed to my desktop) and it allowed me to place the order. Got my confirmation e-mail, hopefully they actually ship.

Why are you thinking they won't ship?  Just curious.

Thanks for posting this...I was having the same issues with not being able to get past putting your state when ordering.    I broke my order up into 1 $500 per order and that worked now.

I was able to order 4 $500 cards and 2 $100 ones all as separate orders.

Yes!!  Worked great for her!  Two is apparently the limit.

  14. Asking for a friend.  She's been trying for two days to purchase rewards for good Carnival cards for her upcoming final payment, but each time she gets to the check out,  the website freezes and it won't proceed any further.  We've tried different browsers, even her phone.  Do they limit how many cards you can purchase at once, and could this be the reason for the hiccup??  She's got plenty of points, and is attempting to purchase three $500 and two $100's for a total of five cards.  Is anyone else having issues lately?  I purchased a single $100 card without issue yesterday.

  15. We did a cruise with almost the same amount of people as you have (2 kids, 2 parents, 2 grands).  We booked two adjoining balconies, but on the reservation I put one of my kids on the grandparents room so we for sure both had rooms that slept more than two (one room had a pull out couch and the other had pullman beds).  The kids took turns "sleeping over" on the pullman with grandma and grandpa.  It was also nice for naps with the younger one (she was almost 4 when we went and still needed naps most days)...I could put her down and then go over onto my mom's balcony and read a book or watch tv in the room while she napped in quiet.

  16. I'm not sure if this will work for Carnival, but on RCCL this worked and works for each cruise they take.  My friend does not drink, but her husband does.  Her doctor gave her a letter stating that due to medication interactions she can't drink alcohol, and RCCL allowed just her husband to purchase the package.  It may be worth a try to see if your mom's doctor would write a similar note, if you would rather try for the package?

    Hello,

I was looking at the cheers beverage program and it says it is 50 dollars per day.

I was wondering if on days that I don’t drink anything, do I still get charged?  How does this work?

As the before said, it's not per day...you pay for the entire amount up front.  So if you're on a 7 day cruise, and you purchase it ahead of time or on day one when you board, you pay the current day rate times 7 plus tax/tip/gratuity charge.  And no, you don't get any refund if you don't drink on particular day.
