  1. Thanks for the review.

Question about the wifi. Did you happen to try wifi calling or send pictures through email with the basic package?  I try to call my 90 yr old mom for a few minutes each day. She only has a land line. The basic wifi on Princess allows me to use wifi calling and email pics a few at a time. Just wondering if I have to upgrade.

  2. MustangGT,  Did you have to show the original vaccination card or was a copy or pic on your phone ok. I’m really hesitant to bring my original card everywhere. I don’t want to damage or lose it.  It is not that sturdy.

We are cruising on Feb 18th also. I did reserve a golf cart in Bonaire.  As of now it looks like our only stop that needs a ships tour is Dominica

I keep thinking of more questions! So the email your mother got was for a back to back right? Does she get the 125 per person because of that? Is it 75 a person if you’re only on the 10 day? Or does everyone get 125 a person?

I am on the Jan 16th cruise also for 10 days.  I didn’t get an email, but all the info is on the Princess website. If you sign in and go into your cruise itinerary it tells the updated port times and the same info as the email with $75 OBC is listed in a paragraph below

  4. I don't think you can fly from BDL to EWR non-stop.

Bayonne is not on any Amtrak line. You could take Amtrak to Newark and then Uber from there to the port. Since you'll probably have to change trains in New Haven you could take the CT train to save a few bucks and then switch to Amtrak. It's going to take some additional time with the stop in Penn Station, not the 3.5 hours.

If you took the 7:08 am itinerary on a Saturday, you'd get to Newark Penn Station at 10:51 am. Then to the port at around noon. One way fare (advance purchase) is $39 per adult. The return trip isn't so good, not a lot of trains if you can't make the 10:27 Vermonter. Maybe arrange for pickup in New Haven; more trains available because you skip the leg through Hartford.

If you drove, it's $20 per day for parking, plus gas plus tolls.

You are right, who would have thought there would be no non stop flights from Hartford. It’s funny our cruise next week out of San Juan is going to take less time to get to than someone’s cruise from a nearby state.

  5. I am from the Springfield Ma area but have not cruised out of NJ. My sister took the train from Springfield to NYC when her cruise left out of New York, I’m not sure if that is a good option for NJ or what the routes are. My first choice would be to check flights from BDL to EWR. If too expensive I would drive, probably about 3 1/2 hour, and search parking options and prices. I would also look at Park, stay, fly options that would let you stay the night before and park for the duration of your cruise. Good luck

  6. On day 12, Venice, the excursion Hidden Venice on Foot is sold out. It is a walking tour of Venice for 3.5 hours. Viking has not indicated they will add another tour.

After doing some research, I discovered Venice offers its own walking tour given by greeters of a non-profit organization. This tour has received excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and is FREE!

If there is any interest, I can secure a reservation for 6-8 people for the afternoon tour at 3:00pm.

Currently, reservations are being accepted through Feb 17, but I will continue to watch for the March 16 date availability.

Are you on the Viking Star or the Sea. The Viking Sea starts the Mediterranean Odyssey cruise on March 5th and is in Venice on the 16th. The Star starts the Mediterranean Odyssey on March 11th and is not in Venice till the 22nd?

  8. I posted this on our roll call but am posting here as well

I do have space on the Naples tour I booked with Vittorio Rosato. His website is http://www.rosatoprivatetour.com. Shore Excursion Sorrento, Positano & Pompeii from Naples

The Shore Excursion Sorrento, Positano & Pompeii from Naples is one of the most complete tour you can do. The tour is designed for cruise passengers who want to see the best of Campania despite having little available time. Our private driver will greet you at the port of Naples to take you on the Amalfi Coast where we will visit the refined Positano, a fishing village heritage site. You will continue the tour to Sorrento small tourist town famous worldwide for the inlay wood and lemons and finally the Pomepii excavations, one of the best preserved Roman archaeology sites in the world. A magical day that will make you fall madly in love with Campania and Italy.

  9. Rich , I have interest in the from Naples that you spoke of going to Amalfi coast / Sorrento and Pompeii. We are party of two . How long is the tour? Do you have 8 yet?

I have 3 possible tour company options that I priced out for 4 and am now requesting prices for 6 or 8. If you still have interest you can email me j15mf115@gmail.com and I will forward the info I have so far. I have not decided which one is the best option yet.

  10. Rich, I did receive an email stating they received my booking and it is processing. Hopefully it will show up on your group booking soon. If you want to try for 8 people it looks like you will have to adjust the size of the van as it said maximum of 6 when I reserved. Are you going to purchase the Vatican and colosseum tickets? I'm sure they will send me an email with the information. We are happy to join your tour as we hoped for a 6 or 8 person tour to keep costs down.

  11. Hi Michele

Here is some info about the tour.

On the web site Romeinlimo go to Shore Excursions then shared excursions, on the right side of the page look for Group Closing soon. Look at Rome Highlights and under group name it would be Dombrow.

For 6 people it is 100 Euros a person. Also a tour guide would be 100 Euros divided between 6 people. Also you have to get the tickets for the sites which they give you a web site on their web site. They aren't that much. It does go to all the sites which is what we were looking for.

If you need anything else let us know.

Let us know what you decide.

    Rich & Melissa

I will talk to my sister before I reserve and will let you know. Is the extra 100 euros divided for a guide at the Vatican?

  12. We just had the UBD on the regal last month. We had it on a sea day in room E107 a large forward balcony, the weather was great that evening with no wind. We did have menu changes as I am also picky. We got cheese and cracker plate instead of the canapés. I also had a fruit plate instead of the crab cakes. They truly will switch out whatever you want. Our waiters Ariel and Zypher were amazing. We have had the UBD on 4 or 5 cruises and it is always the best.

Comments[cabin is listed as an obstructed deluxe balcony. There is no obstruction other than the balcony is solid, not see through. It is about 3 times the size of a normal balcony. It is the 4th cabin from the very front of the ship so it can be a long walk at times. We never heard noise. It was a great cabin
