  1. I've never gained a pound on a cruise, or maybe I have. My thing is to not weigh myself until at least 2 weeks after I get home. I eat and drink whatever I want (yes, I get the most out of the premium package) and enjoy dessert at both lunch and dinner.

I go to the gym daily while on board and log about 20,000 steps on both port and sea days. I try to keep a high level of activity when I get home so I keep burning up those extra calories.

It's a vacation so I believe in having fun and not worrying about a couple of pounds.

    Enjoy yours!

  2. My husband and I start with a soup or salad each. Then we order 1 entree of pasta and have them split it onto two plates so effectively a second appetizer. We each order one entree but I often order a side dish of vegetables from one of the other entrees because I find the veg portion is never enough for me.

Even when we used to cruise with our children we have never had a request denied. They aim to please.

I do hope though, that folks are eating most of what they order. I hate to think of people ordering 3 entrees just to sample them and then wasting most of it.

  3. I'd go with one of the Cats as it is more fun to sail back than motor in a putt-putt boat.

You sure go to a lot of work just to pick an excursion. I think some of your pricing might be in Cayman dollars not USD. I think Dexter's is $40 USD.

  4. None of the beach clubs on Coz allow outside food/drinks -- that's their business! Would you think to bring outside foo/drinks to a restaurant in the US?

You cannot bring food off the ship - only bottled water - so your picnic lunch would require a separate trip to a local store for supplies. If you want to save $$ eat before you leave the ship, choose a place that is closer to the piers to minimize cab fare (the Money Bar is only a $10 cab ride away for up to 4 in the cab), and keep your purchases down to a few drinks and maybe some nachos.

My thoughts exactly. Why bother going to the grocery store to plan a picnic? The Money Bar has the most fabulous nachos and one plate is a great snack (lunch) for two. There is no entrance fee and if you drink a beer or two you can use a lounge chair for free. Very easy on the budget.

  5. Geez, that's 13 day away. I would have no faith in forecasts that are 13 days away not just for Caymans but for almost anywhere.

That being said, when we were there in March, it poured on our ship (Reflection), my husband stayed aboard while I got a 5 minute sprinkle while on Cemetery Beach. The time before that, we drove through heavy rain coming back from Rum Point only to find out there had been not a drop in town.

    Weather there is very changeable.

  6. I would recommend going away from the Beach close to the dock in the early hours as this can be packed. Check out the Bamboo Blue beach about 7 mins from the dock

The beach in town (Turtle Beach) was empty the day we visited on the Reflection. We had an enjoyable and quiet day there. Entry into the water was easy, no waves, bottom was a bit mushy once past waist deep.

This is fine for those that don't want to spend a lot of money.

  7. Yup, you tell your steward and it will be done by the time dinner is over.

Seems it would be easier to ask before. Why give the extra work to the cabin attendant of doing it again? I agree with the previous posters, call Celebrity if booked direct or call your T. A. and they can put a request in your file.

  8. or is it going to be another crush in the self-service restaurant!

We boarded early, 11h30ish, stopped for a quick drink at the Martini Bar, and then headed up to the Buffet maybe 12:30ish, it was surprisingly quiet. After reading so many comments on these boards about the mad house of the first day I was expecting something crazy. It was very civilized.

No crush that day, maybe it gets worse much later.

Had Sushi for lunch one day and it was good but a little too pricey in my opinion.

  9. Anyone have information on what kind of discounts are offered for the Lawn Grill? Thanks.

It will depend on supply and demand. On our Reflection cruise we asked daily and there were no discounts at Lawn Club. They showed us and they were almost full for the week by the second morning. We finally booked on the second to last day at full price. Still, we enjoyed it but after reading on these boards about all the discounts it was frustrating there were no discounts being offered. The other restaurants were all being discounted.

  10. If we go for an outside cabin , what is the best room

If we go for a balcony , what is the best room

Best deal on a balcony is 6209 ( I know there are others but I highly recommend this cabin). Sold as fully obstructed so about as cheap a balcony as you can get. Super handy as on the hump and just beside the mid-elevators. Oh, and did I mention it is super quiet. Best part is balcony is oversized (huge) and the view is barely obstructed at all. Hard to beat!

  11. Some ships are closer to shore than others. It can range from 5 -10 minutes BUT the loading-unloading time can be a pain and much longer. From the time I left my cabin and got off the tender boat in Grand Cayman, it took more than 45 minutes. Most of that was in line snaking around the ship while they loaded the tenders.

On the return, I showed up to no line, and was last on the tender, as soon as I boarded they pulled the ropes so it was very convenient.

  12. Hello Everyone,

This is our family's first time on a cruise (Adventure of The Seas). I was wondering if anyone could give us some advice on what to do during our stop here? I have checked the excursions on Royal Carribbean and most of the activities are for kids age 4+...could someone please suggest us some fun things to do? Thanks..:)

We've been there twice and it is one of our least favorite islands.

I'd head to the beach then get back on the ship. We did enjoy Cruizin Rum tour but his isn't good for a 3 year old.

  13. Cruising on the glory June 4th was interested in paradise beach. Any info on how to get there excursion cab etc. and any info on the place if anyone has been there. Thanks

Perfect if you have kids of any age. If not, look for something quieter.

Taxi fares will be posted at your pier. They are the same for 1 to 4 passengers. There is an additional fee per person if you are more. No problem to get a van cab if needed.

  14. We are those people too.

Unlike others who prefer to eat while their friends or spouse is getting food, my husband and I like to eat together and at the same time.

We usually eat only breakfast, and sometimes lunch at the buffet. In the morning we each get a juice, a coffee, and cutlery. We then set 'our table' so it is clear we are coming back. Then we go and get our food meeting back at 'our' table.

We have done this many, many times on more than one cruise line and it allows us to enjoy our meal together.

I guess I'd be upset if someone moved all our stuff but I figure saving a table for 5-10 minutes should be fine considering some put towels on lounge chairs for hours.

So far this method has worked fine for us, at lunch we just lay out our cutlery and ice water.

It would be sad to have to go one at a time and then eat cold food so we could enjoy each others company.

  15. I wish I could say I'd been on the Summit recently. We loved that ship and would book again except she's been chartered a lot and being a teacher there are only certain weeks I can travel.

I do not think you'll be disappointed at all. I really haven't seen any bad reviews. Stop worrying and you'll enjoy a great va-cay.

One of things we like best about the Summit is she is a 'plain old ship', no waterslides, no bowling, no ice rinks, no climbing walls, no surf park. If you are looking for bells and whistles this is not your ship, if you are wanting to enjoy a beautiful medium size (easier to meet people) ship then Summit will be fine.

  16. Your kids are the perfect age for the Stingray City and snorkeling excursions. The one we did went to Coral gardens. It was beautiful and way nicer than anything off beach.

Choose a small private operator and they will help you even if you've never snorkeled.

Fins are needed when there is a current. That can change from day to day and even from hour to hour.
