We're thinking of booking a cruise next year that ends in Montreal. We really want to disembark in Quebec City 1 day before the cruise actually ends. Our goal is to spend 1 week post cruise in Quebec. It seems like maybe a waste of time to sail down to Montreal (we've been there a couple of times in the last 3 years) only to turn around and find transportation back to Quebec City. Skip the last night's dinner and entertainment and jump off in Quebec City and boom we're onto the next leg of our Canadian trip.
Can this kind of thing be done? Who/How do I contact to set this kind of thing up?
Thanks Willift

The excursions varied from port to port, none of them were similar to the HOHO experience. They typically started around 8:30AM, left the boat and didn't return until 12-1PM. We'd get off occasionally and there was walking involved. I'd say there was a lot of walking on The First Nations, Quebec City & Montmerency Falls, Kingston/Ft Henry and Niagara Falls excursions. Light to no walking on Montreal, and Toronto. On this cruise there were not any "optional" excursions, it was one in each port and that was the only excursion choice.
There were a lot of folks with canes and moving slow and the Victory Crew was very accommodating to the needs of their clients. The routine was traditionally a 4hr excursion in the morning and free time or boat leaves the port after 1PM. We enjoyed the excursions but overall we like the HOHO experience better.
While on board the American Queen had staff looking at the excursion and calculating options so I suspect it will be a fluid changing situation over the next year.

Anybody going to Montreal, if you’ve got the time get tickets to AURA at Notre Dame Basilica. It’s a separate Lightshow type thing that isn’t included in the tour Victory does. We thought it was worth the 24 tix price

LIVE FROM VICTORY2
Sunday in Quebec City and I need to say the the Dining Room Service has improved or at least I found a better group of staff members. I changed the area in the Dining Room that we ate in and I was much more satisfied with the service. We had the Duck Confit and it was delicious.
Our tour of Quebec City, The Plaines of Abraham and Montmorency Falls was very well scheduled and informative. Back to the boat for lunch that had a nice buffet upstairs in the Terrace Grill. Staff was available and enthusiastic about providing service.

Live from Victory II just got back from Quebec City excursion. First time on this ship, multiple AQSC sailings. Hopefully things will get better here. Service is not what we were expecting, Slow and Surly is the way I’d describe it. Dining room has been half full last 2 nights and the service has been terribly slow, 1st night didn’t make it to the entertainment until the last song of the night. 2nd evening slightly better made it by about 1/2 through the performance. Ask for a glass of wine or a refill of water and the looks you get aren’t “Glad to Help” kind of looks. Expected and Paid for better, not at all what we have experienced on the American Queen and at twice the price.
The boat is comfortable and rooms are small but well laid out with plenty of storage. Food has been good. Complimentary Drink selection is pretty broad for those interested in alcoholic drinks. So far the excursion in Montreal and Quebec City where great.
I’m looking forward to improved service and a good time. Will report back as things progress

Thanks to everyone for the input. Just confirmed with Fertours for the 1st day and leaning toward roaming around on Day2 half day.
Anybody have input on the Revolutionary Museum? Always interested in History and I think as an American I didn't get all the details or both sides of that Revolutionary story. Has anybody been there? Is it presented bilingually? What about the Cuban Missile Crisis? Saw somewhere there is a park with old missiles and weapons.

We are stymied by the excursion options RCCL vs. Local Guides...Prebooked vs. Picking up something on shore. Not sure what to do. How bout you guys? Anything exciting planned?

We will be on the March 25th sailing

Thanks for the help. I can't seem to find any information on "Public Bus" from Red Wing. Do you have any company names or more detail. Everything I seem to find is Private Shuttles priced more expensive than AQSC's tour.

We're booked on the American Queen St Louis to (Red Wing) Minneapolis cruise July 30th til Aug 6th. The sailing ends in Red Wing MN an hour from Minneapolis. AQSC's excursion seems pretty lame for getting you back to civilization ($69.00 and a driving tour of the city with a drop off at the airport)
Does anyone have experience with disembarkation for this itinerary? We need to be back at the airport for a 12:30 flight

We missed this year's MSP-NOLA cruise, we were "Waitlisted" for an inside cabin but never cleared list.
A few questions for you
How long of a ride was it to REDWING?
How did you like that itinerary?
Would you do that long of a Cruise again?
So I don't get accused of hijacking the thread
We like the 1st night in the hotel thing, somewhere in the fine print of the contract I think it says you can get a credit for the unused hotel room

We have cruised on AQ in both inside & CAT D "bay window" rooms. We have enjoyed the cruises equally well. There was no doubt that the Bay Window was nice to watch the world go by, but the inside cabin kind of made us get out and around the boat more.
Not a big fan of the rooms that open up to the promenade, seems strange having people walking past you whenever you're out enjoying your area. There are private little balconies that we have never experienced.
We can cruise twice in an inside for about what a outside cabin costs.
If you ever get a chance to book Cabins 201 or 202 spend the money. You get a bay window room with this "kind of" private full sized balcony.
Good Luck we Love the American Queen

I don't have an answer but we're looking for something to do in St. Louis and transportation to airport for a SWA 2:35PM flight on Monday. PM me if you're interested in maybe figuring out something together. We'll be in #201 and relaxing on the Front Porch.

We've been on a few American Queen Cruises and my observation is you're right in their "Age Wheelhouse". You won't be the youngest nor the oldest. Book one, we find them to be one of the best cruising experiences we've had
-
We have been on 3-4 American Cruises and our experience has been that the main Saloon Shows are repeated for each dinner seating. There might be an occasion when a non headliner type act might be doing something while your at dinner but I never felt as though we missed out because of the dinner schedule. They are pretty good and making sure you see and experience everything there is to see.
Relax and enjoy your time, we've come to really enjoy this form of cruising

about 2 days after booking and paying for this Viking Cruise  I realized it starts on the day the Tour ends.
Any suggestions to avoid the crowds? Any tourist things to do that would take us away from the race crowds
We're staying in the Latin Quarter Area and will need to make our way to the ship on Sunday 7/26, originally thought we'd use public transportation but we've come to realize that we don't lug or luggage as well as we use to. Any input on transportation from Latin Quarter to Viking Pride Dock on race day.
What about the race itself? Is it worth going to it are there viewing areas is a street festival kind of atmosphere?
Always looking for input and ideas about places we are about to visit.

He will be banned from RCI and other cruiselines for the rest of his life,
jc
What I don't get is how RCI and other cruiseline are going to share a database of "banned" passengers.
Governments can't seem to get a "no fly" list right.
I just don't see it happening with a group of corporate entities.
The guys is still a idiot.

Thanks for all the input.
Ended up going with Viking, had a large credit voucher that made Viking less expensive on a per day basis.
I will use that referral in the future.

Thanks, if we use Vantage I'll use your referral #.
Right now we're debating Vantage v. Viking.

Hi
We have been on 4 Vantage cruises and have 1 more booked(China). We have not been on Irrawaddy river trip. We prefer Vantage to Viking and can give you a Vantage referral# if you want.
Tom:)
Looking at Vantage Paris to Normandy in 2015. Any information?
I will use a referral if it helps either of us

What did you ever find out about 12175 on Oasis?
