Echoing everyone's thoughts on USAA. Very reasonable pricing, better that Carnival's and it covers more.

Any idea when Carnival Magic's deck cams will update again?
Awesome. I was going to reply, but decided to look before I did. Actually, I have been meaning to post the same question.
As of right now, the AFT Camera is up to the minute, but I'm getting some sort of error for the fwd camera. Hopefully they'll both be operating soon.

Heads Up.... Pt Canaveral will be the next Port to start staggered check in time but as of right now, no date has been announced.
Elaine, where did you learn this? The link above shows dates that are pretty far out. To be having one added in the interim just seems counter-intuitive.
-
If you leave cell service on, I would make sure to turn roaming off. That should prevent you from connecting to the ship's cell network.
I cruised Pride out of Baltimore last year, first port call was Canaveral. I put it in Airplane mode until we docked, and then put it back on until we were back in the Chesapeake.

Great read, brightened my morning...

What? Am I the only one with a notebook?
No.....really....
Pops,
I'm with you, but my notebook is in the cloud, backed up a couple of ways.
Every document I get
Every Tip I learn on CC
My budget
All in one folder, that I'll print out closer to my embark, so no but YES!

That's not true. Although they would like you to believe that, when the ship is told to sail, they must sail.
From: Carnival Shore Excursions:
"Peace of Mind
We take care of all the details and wait for all Carnival excursions to return before departing."
Am I misreading something?

My cruise is a ways out (Oct. 8th)...
Don't forget to sign up in the rollcall.

It's those little swing arm thingies in hotel rooms that give me pause.... how could paramedics reach me in a hotel room if I'm unable to reach the door?
We have ways. First, those things aren't very strong, and we have tools, someone will clean up after us.
You can also use a rubberband and tack, you can also slide a flexible folder to spring it out.

I like this cruise but out of Maryland April 1 has me worried that the day going and returning will be cold. Any thoughts or has anyone done this??? We had snow in Michigan the first week of April this year.
As a point of reference, we had snow flurries and freezing rain/sleet on Saturday. We also set a record low last week, I think 31°F.
We are having weird weather, but if the departure weather is so important just wanted you to know.

A tip, it takes awhile to get your first drink in MDR, so we usually stopped in another bar to carry in our cocktail to dinner and then ordered wine when we sat down.
On Pride, Alchemy was located a short distance from YTD Dining Room, so I would get my martini on the way to dinner and be done/nearly done once my wine got there, which I learned to order immediately.

The chances of finding an accessible cabin this close to sailing are slim to none. It certainly would be worth a call though.
^^^
I am booked in an accessible room for October on Magic. When I booked, my PVP made sure to inform me that I would be moved if someone needed the room, which I fully understand. I would definitely call to see if they did the same thing for your cruise.
-
And we decided it would be our mission to have a drink at each bar on the ship. Hey, everyone needs a goal, right? ;)
Great mission. I have heard about cruise pub crawls, but hadn't thought to have a drink in every bar. Now on my to do list for October.

I don't know officially about crocs but I wouldn't recommend them. They are too soft in my opinion. You really need a harder sole.
Just realized that I'll be flying in sneakers anyway. I'll wear them when I plan on doing the ropes course.
-
Closed toe shoes are required, so no sandals unless they are the closed-toe style like Keens.
What about Crocs?

They always have problems with all the cams.It is really hit or miss with some of the ships. Sometimes they work and sometimes not.
Yes, there is hit or miss and problems, but the Magic cams were updated at least a couple of times a day immediately before drydock. They haven't uploaded since she left drydock. Possibly a coincidence, but I wonder if someone forgot to flip a switch.
thanks FDWT994 for the confirmation that the cams are still operational, just not broadcasting.
-
She might be in dry dock right now. She is getting the new BBQ place and s few others things.
Nope she cleared drydock a couple of weeks ago.
According to the tracker or Carnivale, it looks like she is in Cozumel right now. Just no cameras since shortly after she went into drydock.
She also got Alchemy, Guys, and some other changes too.

Does anyone know when the Carnival Magic's deck cams will update again?
I've been meaning to ask this too. Hopefully someone knows what is going on and reports back.
-
Not for travel, but I'm in the middle of purchase protection from Discover. So far, it seems pretty straight forward. Since it is for electronics, I'm still waiting for them to figure out the damage.

What is Bonsai Sushi like? I think that's new for the Pride. Is it sit down service now?
I was on Pride last summer. Ate at Bonsai three times. My 8 yo loves sushi!
Once was the demonstration where they show you how some things were made.
Once for lunch.
Once for a late dinner (missed YTD).
Every one was very good, but not much different that the my local sushi place.
-
What about cigars? Allowed in the same exterior locations?
-
Also, TSA allows corkscrews (without knives) on planes, I keep one in my shaving kit.
-
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately it was broken for our cruise last summer.

This link from NPR shows how to open a bottle with a shoe.

Looks like they're finally both up again. Let's hope it stays that way.
It is raining, so the AFT camera appears to be the same, but the forward camera has different water drops on it.
