  1. Hi all,

I am going on the Getaway in 66 days (can't wait!) and was wondering about these sunbeds I heard about. On the Epic there was a deck near the front hat had mattress-type beds instead of lounge chairs, but I don't know if that is on every ship or not.

I have heard that this hidden deck is on the Breakaway but does anyone know if it is on the Getaway?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hi all,

This may be a silly question...

If I have $50 OBC for my upcoming cruise (103 days – woohoo) and I want to use that for either the Illusionarium show or a paid restaurant, how do I do so? Can I book it now and then pay on the ship with the OBC or do I have to pay now, and therefore am not able to use OBC? I don’t quite understand how this works!

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Hello!

I have been researching some excursions for my November 2015 Getaway cruise and wanted to know if anyone has any experiences with ziplining excursions in Great Stirrup Cay, Ocho Rios, Georgetown, or Cozumel.

I definitely want to zip line at one of the ports but looking on NCL excursions they have either 1 or 2 reviews or none. A lot of them say the zip lines aren’t high enough or adventurous enough (which I am!) so I want to know if any of you have experience with a big/exciting/thrill-seeking zipline in any of those ports.

    Thanks so much!

  4. This may be a really stupid question but hopefully somebody knows the answer.. On my last cruise (2013 Epic) I bought a souvenir glass with one of the daily drinks. On the cruise I will be going on this year I have the UBP but I still would like to get a souvenir cup with one of my drinks at some point on the trip.

Does anyone know if this will be possible (assuming the price is under the $11 limit) or does the UBP cover only beverages and the souvenir cup would not count?

    Thank you!

  5. Hi all,

I'm cruising with my boyfriend in November (so excited!) and have a few questions about couples cruising.

I've heard that the bed is really two beds that can be pushed together. Do we have to ask for this before the trip or ask for it on the first day?

For dining, I heard that wait times weren't too bad but do you think for 2 people it would be better/worse at any time for dinners or shows?

For excursions we were thinking it would be safest to book with NCL so that we don't risk missing our departure or anything. We're doing the Western Caribbean so if there are any cool excursions you'd recommend we'd love to hear!

Also I was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice or to-dos for young couples (early twenties) going out on the seas together. We're both super excited so anything you can share will be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance! :)

  6. Thank you all so much for the helpful responses. I think I will let them know ahead of time or when I get on the ship just in case, but if all else fails the buffet will be fine I'm sure.

It's nice to know that they can accommodate vegetarians and are willing to tweak the menu. Hopefully I get a happy staff member to help just as much as you all did!

    Thanks

  7. Hi all,

I am a vegetarian (not vegan, I do eat eggs. cheese, milk) but I was wondering if you have any experience on the NCL ships (I'm going on the Getaway) for vegetarian meals. I noticed on some menu pictures that there was one option for vegetarian dishes usually, but are there more?

Is it easy to ask the servers/chefs to edit/change a meal for a vegetarian? Will I have a lot of options or will it mostly be the one choice each dinner?

    Thanks all!

  8. As someone stated Future Cruise Credit.

It costs $250 to purchase an FCC. You will get $100 back in OBC that you can use on that cruise. If you use take that $100 OBC in the casino they will convert it to $125 that you have to play through onc and you can then cash out. It does not have to all be played through at the same time, my mom for example plays in $10 increments.

You take your $250 FCC credit home and use it for a deposit on another cruise. If you are booking anything other than a suite or Haven then this is all the deposit that will be required on your cabin. You can only use one FCC per cabin.

FCC's last for four years. If later you determine that you will not be able to book a cruise within that four year period you can transfer it to someone else. You can give it away to a friend or family member or you can sell it. People have been known to sell them here on CC or on Ebay etc.

If you do think you will cruise with NCL again it is a great way to make $100 OBC and keep a future cruise deposit to the minimum.

    Rochelle

Wow Rochelle, thank you for such a detailed response. I had never heard of this! I would definitely use this in 4 years. How do you purchase this?

This is one example why I am so glad I found this message board! Wow :)

  9. I think I have one of those too. on Deck 9 but more towards the front, just behind the Haven cabins. I think mine is angled to the back though so I don't know what that will look like. Cabin 9736 of anyone has experience with that one?

Very curious about this angled balcony!

  10. Hello :)

I have a cruise booked for November 2015 on the Getaway, and I am so excited! We got the cabin 9736 because I noticed it had a little bigger of a balcony than the others that were available.

I have a few questions about this room.

Is it in a good location (to noise, elevators, etc)?

How much bigger is the balcony? From what I saw on some of these threads it seems like a triangular shape so I don't know if it really fits any more than the standard balcony.

Is it facing backwards? From the way it looked on the deck plan it angles out towards the back of the ship kind of. Does that make any difference to what I can see or not see? ie: will I just see the edge of the next balcony in front of us if I look forward?

And since I don't think I am on the port side, does this mean I can't watch the fireworks from here?

Any advice/info/tips would be much appreciated! Thanks so much :)
