  1. Thanks for the update. My TA is leaving tomorrow for vacation so I'll have to wait to see it on the website. When I emailed her several days ago she assured me my reservation was still active even thought it's off the site. Hopefully the changes are palatable for me. I'm hoping they don't shorten the trip as I am looking forward to a 9 night instead of the usual 7 night and seeing this part of Italy.

  2. Does anyone know how long the deadline is for a response? Looks like my TA is out of the office until the end of the month. If it turns out to be changes that aren't acceptable to me I may switch the cruise to the Sept Iberian passage one. That was my second choice anyway. But with this really good sale that Azamara has right now who knows what cabins will still be available.

  3. Hi tromvest, as I posted on the other thread you started:

"I apologize for mis-information. Our Fall 2018 voyages on the Journey are NOT sold-out. The webgurus are working on a few things. The voyages will be back online by next Friday I expect."

Hopefully this is just a technical glitch as my Oct 15, 2018 Med trip on the Journey has disappeared as well.

  4. We did Romantic Danube

The included excursions are a good introduction to the places you visit. A great deal depends on the local guide you have. As the passengers are split into smaller groups for walking tours there can be four guides. If you don't like your one, just go to another group, and tune in your QuietVox to their wavelength.

    Optional Excursions:

Mrs P wanted to go to the Straus concert in Vienna. I didn't but she booked it anyway and I went under protest. But I loved it, it was the highlight of the trip for me, and last year when we did the Grand EuropeanTour (Budapest to Amsterdam) we booked the concert excursion again. And loved it just as much.

I didn't go, but everyone who went on the optional tour to the BMW factory at Regensburg was raving about how good it was. Our friends went on the Romantic Danube and they also went, came back raving about how excellent it was.

When we went on Romantic Danuble the only way to book optional tours was on board boat, but now you can prebook trips online. The BMW factory tour has limited numbers and it sells out very fast, if you're interested book ASAP..

Did people dress up for the concert? I'm looking forward to booking that excursion when I get on the boat.

  5. Yes. Good point. And for those who only want tables for 2 and not to socialize with fellow pax then river cruising is not for you.

Disagree with this. My DH and I would prefer tables for 2 and are not social butterflies and we love river cruising. Not saying we didn't socialize but we like bus trips, small river boats and small towns and absolutely loved our first river cruise. Looking forward to the next one in Oct.

  6. Wait until you get on board to book optional excursions. Difficult to get a refund if you change your mind. I messed up with booking an optional one ahead of time and even though I tried to change it on the first day of boarding they wouldn't allow it. My TA got me the refund when I got home. We were happy with all of our excursions. Had a great trip.

  7. I would prefer a nice folder. I loved the one I got from Avalon and used it on my cruise so I would be disappointed if I didn't get a nice one from Tauck. They are an expensive line and should include a nice one IMO.
