I got this same one for my Equinox cruise next Sunday.

My email this morning for next week's sailing says antigen or naat test 72 hours before sailing is required. And yes, I got the other mail about it on Friday. I wouldn't think they have changed the requirement; just sloppy emailing practices.

I received an email as I stated.  This morning.  It was titled “Update.”  I posted it for you to read.  I don’t know how much clearer I can be.

Except that email (which I also received) says

For more information to prepare for your cruise please visit
    HEALTHY AT SEA.

So the email doesn't change anything from the website, and the more complete information on the website about Florida cruises still applies.

  3. Like everyone, I've been wildly vacillating between optimism and pessimism about cruising this summer, but then today our luggage tags arrived and suddenly the fact that I'll be on a cruise in 12 days finally sank in. Of course, bad things might *still* happen, but I'll stick with very optimistic for now.

Also since luggage tags have been a question on other threads: yes it is apparently still the same. We requested them in the usual manner on the website about a week ago, and now they are here. YMMV.

  4. Received a similar email today -- though to be clear, there is a link to click and register for antigen tests if you are unvaccinated (and they include a code to use), but there is no similar link to click to inform them that you are vaccinated. I'd been waiting for them to call us (as other threads have reported) to verify that, but I guess I should call them pro-actively and have them enter that into their records.

  5. August 8 too. I expected at least to be asked if vaccinated so they can keep track, but there was no question. And I guess not officially checked in until you answer the health questions the day before boarding.

    But woo-hoo!!!!

This has been bugging me for a while.  If I test positive but am asymptomatic, would it not be more proper to label my condition SARS-CoV-2 positive rather than COVID positive?  Just like the millions who've been HIV positive, but not suffering from AIDS.  The D in COVID stands for disease.  If I'm not sick, yet positive, where's the disease?  Please don't flame me....just asking.

Exactly. And also to apply the HIV-positive terminology to this, the viral load in these cases is typically incredibly small. That means these individuals are extremely unlikely to spread the disease.

I think also the problem is that people think of the vaccine as a shield. Think of a swimming pool -- the vaccine isn't a tarp that magically prevents things from falling into the pool. The vaccine is like the chlorine in the pool that neutralizes the things that do fall into the pool. If you're exposed to covid, it will enter your body and the vaccine (or really, your immune-system-primed-by-the-vaccine) will take care of it. But an extremely sensitive test taken during that short time will show a positive result, even though you probably aren't actually sick nor likely contagious.

  7. Interesting start to the hearing today. I don't think the hearing in general will have any immediate impact on sailings (particularly as the losing side will appeal), but color me unsurprised that the FL government is caught grandstanding and trying to politicize the issue...

The hearing started with Judge Merryday calling out the state for making incorrect public statements about mediation. Last week, the Governor’s Office made comments that an impasse had been declared.

Judge Merryday said that is not true, and that mediation is ongoing. He asked the state how the incorrect statement was made, and how things got released to the public from within mediation. The state’s attorney said he believed it was a misunderstanding. Judge Merryday then made it clear that both sides have a right to confidentiality, and that if it happens again, he will investigate.

  8. For Equinox on August 8, just got a notice that there are several itinerary changes. I guess these would apply to all Equinox sailings, but the website still shows the old itineraries (even for the August 8 cruise).

Departure time moved to 6 pm from Port Everglades -- presumably to give more time for disembarkation in the morning and embarkation in the afternoon.

Stop in San Juan is cancelled; sea day instead

Stop in Dominican Republic is cancelled; sea day instead

Last sea day now is a stop in Nassau

Nassau requires a PCR test 5 days prior to arrival for all unvaccinated people; wonder if that is added to make the case that only vaccinated people can travel since getting the PCR test during the cruise won't really work. (Though I guess they could get one in St. Maarten during the cruise? But if they test positive; then the ship can no longer stop in Nassau?)

We'll be doing Online Check-In on Saturday for our 8/27 ABC on Equinox.  Hoping that there will be something like a Proof of Vaccination section that might give some clarity on what may be needed.

Eh, maybe not. We're on Equinox on August 8, and online check-in still hasn't opened. Maybe it will be open by the time your cruise is supposed to open for check-in, but maybe you'll have to wait.

But at least now I have some confidence that Equinox will still in August.

  10. I've seen lots of recommendations about what time to arrive in Bayonne (er, Cape Liberty) to avoid the traffic, but nothing about when to plan on leaving. I guess this is partly because most people are driving; we live in Manhattan and will be arranging for a car service.

To avoid the crowds (and an angry driver who has spent 60 minutes in traffic), what is the latest time we can reasonably schedule the car service on a Saturday morning?

  11. What does "combinable with a future offer" actually mean? I thought that offers were typically for new bookings only. If I book this now, and then in May Celebrity extends 1-2-3 perks to these sailings, that wouldn't be combinable, would it?

I guess I could claim the stockholders credit, which actually I haven't been able to use for years since it hasn't been combinable with other perks.

  12. I'm on the fence about the value of these benefits:

Basic 2 points/$1 on RCI travel and redemption for discounts/OBC at $1 for $100 points: that's pretty standard compared to other cards. Still, enough to get me interested. And a few of the rewards are more than 100 points/$1 (e.g., some of the upgrades).

Two-for-one annual airfare: This comes from a company called Promotions in Travel, LTD, and some quick googling showed a host of responses saying the certificates are not worth the paper they are printed on. A few posts include the point that companies (e.g. Celebrity) that partner with PiT end up disappointing the customers; the opposite of their intention.

$300 discount off one future cruise (CC class) if you spend $10K in 2 months: If this were not a one-time thing, I'd sign up immediately. As it is, I'd have to time the application to coincide with using the card for a big purchase; then the one-time benefit would be nice, but it seems like a lot to go through for that one-time benefit.

10K bonus points when you spend $10K annually: That's worth $100, covering the annual fee and leaving a $31 benefit. That's good if the other benefits measure up.

50% off second guest at speciality restaurant: Alas, only once per cruise or it would be a significant incentive. Still, maybe $20 - $45 a year to me (also applies only on Celebrity ships, unlike the OBC and other offers which apply to both RCCL and X -- that also limits the benefit).

10% off Private Journey excursions and Premium Beverage packages: Not helpful to me, unfortunately, but I can see how the beverage package discount would be useful for many.

My current card has not great benefits which is why I'd consider changing. But I'm hoping others here might have either good things to say about their experiences with the travel vouchers, or some other point about the new X card to sway my opinion. I used to love pulling out my Celebrity Visa card and dreaming of my next cruise every time I paid for something....

  13. This PDF contains info as of 2/11/09. For those who are posting information, try to complete every question from the list at the beginning of the thread so that I will have complete information on each cabin.

This is a great resource; many thanks for taking on the project.

Those of you posting information: there is no such class as "Concierge" on the Solstice class ships. Rather, there is C1 and C2, and it would be more helpful if you could post the correct class so Donna could enter it correctly in the (hopefully :)) up-to-date spreadsheet. That way people looking for the difference in classes will find what they want more easily. I looked up the already-reported cabins on the deck plans. Here is the correct information for those cabins:

    C1: 1046, 1245, 1204, 1659, 9243, 9305, 9380

    C2: 1023, 1255, 9259, 9261, 9302

And here's another one to add:

    Deck - Sky

    Cabin # - 1075

    Class – C1

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bath

Quiet Cabin – Not connecting; very quiet

    Balcony View - Outstanding

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized

    Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? None
