  1. We have sailed with Cunard previously but this August will be our first time in Princess Grill. Any tips would be warmly welcomed. we are considering purchasing the coffee package. Do you think this is necessary in Princess Grill? I particularly love lattes. Also will there be bottled water and soft drinks in the cabin or Grills lounge? thank you so much
  2. Yes passports required for all UK cruises. at least you have the option to change your cruise to a later date if you can’t get new passports in time. passport renewals are generally quicker than starting a new passport request
  3. Doesn’t matter to us which ports there are on our 17th July cruise. We are just delighted to be back on board. As far as school aged children are concerned there shouldn’t really be any on this cruise as the school don’t break up until July 23rd. Also younger adults with young children, in the majority probably won’t be double vaccinated in time for this cruise either
  4. I think young families will be more inclined to book MSCand Royal Caribbean as they have so much more facilities for them. Celebrity are a much more adult cruise line and with the requirement for double vaccinated over 18’s I should imagine the later August/September cruises will have the majority of families as they will have had their 2nd jab by then. I notice the July 17th cruise has now been removed from the Celebrity website. I would imagine in anticipation of Boris’ announcement that he is extending the current restrictions until July 19th. meaning the July 17th cruise will have li
  5. We too are hoping there will not be many children on our July 17th sailing. Most UK schools don’t break up until July 23rd so you would hope they would wait for school holidays. Also MSC and Royal Caribbean have so many more facilities on board for children and young families. never really thought of Celebrity as a family ship
  6. We are currently on the Viking Venus Hawaii g for Liverpool. This is our firstViking cruise too, having previously cruised with Cunard and Celebrity. I would describe the ship as contemporary and very elegant in design. We love it , although it’s a very different experience than our previous cruises. We are in a Penthouse Veranda cabin on deck 5 and it is beautiful and very cosy. The bathroom design is superb and I love the heated floor. The shower is large for a cruise ship too. There is house wine and beer with lunch and dinner but I believe that sparkling wine would be an extra.
  7. Does the Spa offer discounts on port days as other cruise lines do? thank you
  8. Just a quick question regarding embarkation day. we have an embark time of 10-10.30am so should be on board by lunchtime. can anyone tell me what venues will be open for lunch on embarkation day please?
  9. Thank you for your comments which I find extremely interesting. we are very excited now to experience all that Viking Ocean has to offer. It sounds amazing. As you commented, the Cunard public spaces are incredible and very Art Deco. We loved the atmosphere but for me the cabin lacked that five star finish, especially the bathroom. From what I can gather the cabins onboard Viking ships are sophisticated elegance with all the modern touches. We splashed out and booked a Penthouse veranda for some extra room. We have already reserved two nights in Manfredis and we can’t wait to sample th
  10. Ditto to that!! we love Cunard for the Art Deco shops d the glamour. I think Viking will be very different but in a good way. Fantastic food and stunning ship. We will be able to compare our Penthouse Veranda experience this month with our Princess Grill experience on Queen Elizabeth in August. I hope we love them both
  11. Thank you so much for your insight. it sounds like we will love Viking. so looking forward to the laid back feel and the stunning surroundings. The Venus looks beautiful and the food amazing. Any insider tips would be gratefully received. Is there anything we really shouldn’t miss?
  12. My husband and I are in our early fifties and have cruised several times with Cunard and once with Celebrity. We are booked on the Viking Venus in a Penthouse Veranda cabin next week and really excited about experiencing all that a Viking ocean cruise has to offer. We also have a Cunard Princess Grill cruise booked in August. Does anyone have experience of both Cunard and Viking and if so tell us the main differences we will encounter. we don’t have children and are especially looking forward to a child free cruise.
  13. Can anyone comment on their Retreat experiences. my husband and I are very tempted to book a Sky suite on the Silhouette on July 31st on one of the UK staycation cruises this summer. only concern is that there will be lots of children onboard due to it being the start of the school holidays. Not going to be much of a Retreat if there are children running around Luminae, the lounge and the pool area.
  14. Did they request to see your insurance details and were there any issues? there have been lots of queries from other cruises that have departed the UK regarding g specific cruise and COVId cover. we have purchased our insurance with All Clear and they certainly include both. enjoy the Isles of Scilly. Am particularly looking forward to that excursion.
  15. Sounds fantastic. I have printed out my calendar of booked excursions and restaurants reservations to take onboard just in case there are any queries. thanks for mentioning that. How is the social distancing working in the dining venues for breakfast and lunch? Do you have to make timed reservations like the evening dining? Also how is the entertainment in the theatre working? Good entertainers and speakers onboard? Have a wonderful cruise. Can’t wait for ours on June 5th.
