On my last cruise in September on the Seaside as a solo YC cruiser, I was NOT able to invite a guest to share dinner. In fact, the waiter in the steakhouse was very rude about it in front of my guest. I was made aware of the situation by my butler prior to going to the restaurant that I had to pay for my guest and was prepared to do so. The problem was the waiter made an excessively big deal that I needed to pay for the meal for my guest, that it was embarrassing. I had asked this question on this forum before the cruise and the consensus then was "no problem". That is not the case!

Steeler Nation at Sea, thanks for the thoughts and you picked up my concerns. I have gone ahead and scheduled some activities (and, hopefully, will meet some folks) and will give the solo meet up a try. I do look forward to being in charge but also enjoy the company of others.

I agree on not joining FB, but I will check out the solo meet ups and try and find some folks to do things with on the cruise.

I am on the Seaside 9/17/23 in Yacht Club and my son was also going on the cruise but for medical reasons is going to need to cancel. I have not traveled solo in a long time, and I was wondering if there are any solo meet ups. I would enjoy meeting some fellow travelers to join over a drink or in the casino.

The same thing happened to me on my first MSC cruise last year, I applied and never heard from them. When I contacted reservations and asked about the status match, they applied the appropriate discounts to my reservation. Give them a call.

I am a diamond member but traveling solo. Can I invite another family member to use the diamond dining benefit or is it restricted to as they say "cabinmates"?
