  1. Just got this response to a Facebook comment on Princess’ page: “ we apologize for the pricing error. We will be refunding the price difference to guests who purchased the water bottle package over the past day, and the price will be updated in the Cruise Personalizer shortly. We're sorry for any confusion this may have caused”

    Fingers crossed!

  3. There’s also coffee available self service at the Horizon Court buffet. On the Royal and Regal it’s brewed coffee, apparently on other ships it’s from a concentrate. I’ve never had a problem drinking either, but I’m not a fan of the high priced coffee chains....

  4. We ordered two 12 packs on b2b 10 day cruises on the Royal in Dec 2016. We were in the same cabin both segments. It was all delivered at the beginning. We put a few in the fridge at a time and stored the rest under the bed. I don’t remember what kind it was, other than not Dasani.

  5. I don't believe that any of the ships run on quarters any more. Those that we've been on in the last 3 years use tokens. There is a token machine in each laundry room. You program in what you want' date=' swipe your card, and the machine issues the tokens.[/quote']

I pack some detergent pods to use, as well as a stain remover stick. Had some shirts come out of an on board dryer with oily stains on one cruise (lip balm maybe?) and had to buy stain remover in port in St Thomas at a greatly increased price.

I also make sure to pack pain reliever, Benadryl, aloe, etc. Purchased 16 Benadryl tablets on the ship once for about $8.00. Never again!

  6. Yes, one can earn $50 for cruises 3-5 days, $100 for cruises 6-13 days, $250 for cruises over 2 weeks..but as stated you need to send in your final discharge paperwork to prove you qualify so if it's been 40 years and you don't have that paperwork (or can't find it) then you need to get another copy from a Veterans Office which may take months (Like it did for us, lol). But once you get it approved from Princess you'll always get the onboard credit for all future cruises.

The military OBC is also considered refundable. We had leftover OBC on one cruise and cashed it in a few days before the end of the cruise. Because we did it early enough that they had a good supply of cash we got it on the spot.

  7. A mini suite has a curtain to separate the sleeping areas for privacy, deluxe balcony does not, however all walls and ceilings are metal. I’ve heard that some people rig a curtain using magnetic hooks. If you’re prone to seasickness, try for midship, both front to back and top to bottom. I recommend around deck 9. Deck 8 has common areas such as lounges, etc, below it that can be noisy. Too close to the elevator can also be noisier. We used to select any time dining, but have found we prefer fixed. They might even try to seat you with other families with teens.

  8. We always plan to pack lighter, but... I once paid $11 for 16 Benadryl tablets on board when I had an allergic reaction and broke out in hives, our travel kit now has Benadryl in it. Couldn’t rule out the shower soap or shampoo provided as the culprit. Now we bring our own. Also pain relievers, Rx meds, etc. We bring less socks & undies, but bring detergent and use the laundry facilities on sea days. Also only a few pair of shorts and slacks each and mix & match tops. We like to dress nice for the MDR and dress up for formal nights. We did 20 days on the Royal in Dec 2016 with 2 large, 1 small and a rolling garment bag, plus a carry on with meds, electronics, charging station. Also bring a small USB powered fan for some air circulation at night. No plugging in so it works on the night stand. I’ll suffer through getting the luggage there and back before I’ll leave something behind that I want or need!

  9. We kept insulin pens in the fridge in our room on the Royal last December. Our steward also filled the ice bucket daily and put it in the fridge. It was cold enough to keep bottled water at the perfect temp for a refreshing drink. They’re basically dorm sized refrigerators.

  10. We were on the Royal for 20 glorious (warm) days last December, arriving home a year ago today. We’re currently freezing in Missouri!

Loved the ship, our waiter and head waiter. Last year the band Rhapsody played in the piazza and other venues. They were great. We enjoyed most of the guest entertainment as well. Was very impressed by how Princess made Christmas Day special by having Santa show up with gifts for all the kids.

  11. We love the mini’s for the extra space. However we spent 20 days in an aft deluxe balcony on Riviera deck of the Royal last December and loved it! We’re morning people and thoroughly enjoyed the sunrises and wake views. There was some soot most mornings but our steward, Maynard, wiped everything down every day. A plus for me was being able to use the balcony without being blown away while at sea!

I forgot to mention the quiet hallway! We were also conveniently near the passenger laundry, which was a must on a 20 day cruise!

  13. We booked owners suite C738. After reading about all the soot problems, I want to change suites. Other than soot; are there fume problems too? Geeze?

We were in R737 on the Royal for 20 days last December. It had a larger balcony than most deluxe balcony cabins and since it’s down a hallway across the very back of the ship it was an extremely quiet location. We experienced some soot, but our steward did an excellent job of controlling it.

We would book an aft balcony on Royal or Regal again in a heartbeat! Loved the wake views and seeing the sunrise every morning no matter if we were traveling northbound or southbound! We were also able to use the balcony even when at sea, as the wind was not an issue.

  14. Sorry to hear that! We used Trikes Aruba for a 9:00 a.m. ride last December and it was amazing! Didn’t even mind getting little wet from a brief rain shower.

  15. Thank you so much for sharing your experience-- would love to hear details of your renewal, but I guess that would be off topic :-P

I assume we will get the same run around. I still plan on pushing for it, because they chose the language of the sales pitch for photo package and it clearly says "all" with NOTHING listed as an exception. I don't care about prints or video, just the digital copies matter to me. I'm a huge believer in a companies obligation to be clear in what they are selling -- and to honor the terms of what they sold. I will decline the video, as I know I won't buy it. I don't want anyone wasting their time either.

I'm not going to stress overly about it, as we will have friends there taking pics and video. One dabbles in photography and I will ask her to practice with my full frame so she can use it. I do portrait photography as a hobby and am working towards doing it professionally. I have scoped out images and videos of the ship so I already have ideas on what photos I want.

And our renewal will be on formal night, so we will take advantage of all the photo ops that night ;-)

Sorry, I totally missed seeing this! Goshi, from Passenger Services took care of all the details for our renewal. It can only be done while at sea. We didn’t have anyone else on board with us, but it was a very nice ceremony.

If not interested in having a ship photographer I would let them know up front. Especially the videographer!
