We have rented a car in Halifax for less than $100 for the day. Much less than most tours. Pickup appears to be about 2 blocks from the waterfront, so walkable.

mets123 what can you tell me about the train ride? Where does it go? Cost? What is it called so I can look it up?
-
I'm sorry. I'm very confused about the shuttles. Is there a recommended shuttle company? Can you book them in advance? What is the fare from the port to Boston Common?
-
I really like the Freedom Trail idea if the weather is nice. What is the best way to get to Boston Common from the port? Taxi? Uber? Subway?
-
Also, as I think I understand it, private vehicles are not allowed up Cadillac Mountain without a special permit. Is that correct? The trolley tour will get you there.
-
As I look at Olli's and Acadia tours I notice that they both offer a 2.5 hour tour and a longer 4 hour tour. Where do the longer tours go that the shorter ones don't visit? Which is preferable?

I was considering taking the train to Freeport to LL Bean. How difficult is this to do on our own? Where is the train station in relation to the pier? I also love the boat outings listed here. They look like great fun.

I have the same question about Bar Harbor. It appears that car rental places are all at the airport which is some distance from the port. Anyone know of anything closer?

We are thinking of taking the train into Freeport. How far is the train from the port and is it walkable?

This was exactly what we did this past sailing except we ate in our favorite restaurant instead of outside vendors.
What is the favorite restaurant you refer to here?

We are not ship excursion people. What should we plan to do with a car in Peggy's Cove/Halifax?
-
When I put in Bar Harbor for car rental, I keep getting agencies in Ellsworth 13 miles away. Where/Who is the best place to rent from in Bar harbor that is closest to the port? And is this a good port to rent a car? We would like to do Acadia on our own. And what's the real story on getting into Bar Harbor? We are on Liberty of the Seas. Will we be allowed into Bar harbor without a ship excursion?

So would you say there is no need for car rental in Halifax? I have a car rented to go to Peggy's Cove, but now I'm thinking it may not be necessary.

Amsterdam does use the Euro. It is a very walkable city, but make arrangements for a canal tour. Lots of rental companies are available, and you can reserve ahead of time if you want to. Also some very good museums around. The Anne Frank house is a must do, but you almost always need advance resrvations for that. I don't recommend biking unless you are very proficient. The bikes move with the traffic, and autos are not inclined to slow down for the tourists.

I beg to differ that there isn't much to do here. Have been many times and always find plenty to do. The driving tour is always a good idea, but you might want to to some research to choose some places you'd like the driver to taker you (i.e., Mountain Top, Magen's Bay, etc.). If you are beach people, there are plenty to choose from. The ferry over to Water Island and Honeymoon Beach is also a good option for the day. Easy trip and a great place to relax.

While I know this review is old, I found it very interesting, so thanks. As far as your rankings, how would you rank the stateroom 10329? I have it booked for a future cruise and I'd be interested in knowing how you felt about location, noise, etc. And would you book this room again? Anything you could post would be helpful.
-
Can you be a little more specific about "incredibly loud"? Do you sleep with white noise? Is the Abyss a constant screaming location? I just booked 10329, and I'm worried that I should change it.
-
I am looking at one of these aft cabins. I watched a video and there was a lot of screaming in the background from the slide. Does that drive anyone crazy? Is it just too much noise? I'm actually looking at 10329 closest to the slide.

Anthem of the Seas
Deck 9
Stateroom #9288
Standard Balcony (6D?)
Port side
One of the quietest staterooms we've ever had on a ship partly due to the fact that it was a fairly long distance from the stairs and elevators.
Connecting stateroom
Normal sized balcony with no obstructions, but because room is on the aft slope, the balcony has a little bit of extra space for the price of the standard balcony.
Cabin is in the aft part of the ship about halfway back. Good location. We are accustomed to being midship, so the walk was a little different for us, but when you're eating all the time walking is good.
No problems with this cabin. In fact it seemed a bit larger than other balcony cabins we have been in. Bed was by the balcony, so that made the room feel somewhat larger.

I have been looking at the PortBermuda webcam and your weather looks fabulous. Hope we have the same sunshine next week.

That's too bad. I have used this site for years and have always found it very helpful in my trip planning. I am also frustrated that I can no longer click on the ship and find reviews without having to scroll through all the posts.

Like kcbookworm, we also found the smallness of the ship to be relaxing. Never felt like we were missing "something" and did some things we never do on the bigger ships. We watched movies by the pool every night because we had never seen the ones being offered. I rarely do that on big ships (except for the Oasis which I do love the movies in the Aqua Theater). Majesty to Cuba and Key West was one of the most relaxing cruise vacations we've taken in years.

Our Anthem cruise for the end of April just opened for show booking about 3-4 weeks ago. We thought they would never open up but they did. I think RCI is just being a little lazy on this front these days.

I would definitely do the HOHO canal tour rather than a bus tour as PP Kernow mentioned above. The canals are what makes Amsterdam unique. Take advantage of it.
Clear bottom kayak and beach break (Princess)

If you're out of shape, kayaking of any kind can be strenuous. We did the clear kayaking several years ago and it was a breezy (not windy) day. Going one way was fine. Returning against the breeze was quite different. I was in a kayak by myself, and I worked pretty hard that day.
