  1. Hello Ms411 & Blue Water,

I've enjoyed reading the info you've provided to another poster about things to see/do for first timers in St. Thomas.

We are a group of approx 10-14 people all adults and we're planning our day in St. Thomas (Havensight terminal). Three adults in our group has mobility issues.

We would like to do mostly the sights you mentioned and a couple of hours on the beach (Sapphire). If these adults find it difficult to walk, they have an option to stay inside the van.

If you know of any other reputable private tour companies or taxi service offering such tours (beach time included), can you please share? Do the taxis at the dock have vans to accommodate us? And an idea how much it would cost per person?

Thank you in advance for any info/comments/suggestions....

  2. Hi everyone...FLCruisinMom, Micah's Grandad, serene56, jackdis

Thank you for all your responses. This is what I lifted from Carnival's website: "Since most tables are configured for parties up to 6 guests and many cannot be moved together to make larger tables, parties greater than 8 guests may need to be accommodated at several tables and the wait can sometimes be more than one hour. It is important to advise accordingly as to manage expectations and avoid disappointment once on board. We highly suggest that parties of 8 or more guests choose the traditional assigned seating (6:00pm or 8:15pm) to assure sitting together at one table or several tables close together."

We will choose traditional seating at 6pm. Our reservations are linked. So my question is: To request a big table for 14, should I call Carnival before sailing or can this be done once onboard. Who should we talk to? Concierge or Maitre D' at the MDR?

    Thank you.

  3. We are cruising from Port Canaveral to Eastern Caribbean and three people in our group are US citizens but only have the US Passport CARD not the Book. They called Carnival Cruise Line and they were advised that it is acceptable.

For peace of mind, can anyone confirm this or any input or opinion on this? Thanks much.

  4. Greetings!

We are a party of 14 adults and we would like to sit together when dining in the MDR. From what I've read, they only have a table for max of 8; so if this is the case, we are okay with two tables so long as we are near each other.

Is it possible to request/ask for this kind of arrangement prior to sailing or does it have to be done once onboard; and who should we talk to?

Sailing in April on the Magic!

    Appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

  5. On the NOS last year, it was held in a cordoned off section of the Viking lounge. They were only letting in those that had invites. The rest of the lounge was still open to other passengers.

When you sign up you can add all those that are in your reservation to the invitation list.

    Spurschick...

After signing up, can you still edit and add names?

    Thank you all for responding.

  6. Another thing that might cause you unnecessary distress is that OBC does not normally show on your cruise account until 24 hours after you have sailed. So it will not be showing when you get on board for that first night. Check after the 24 hour period, it should be on your account. If not, complain and make sure customer service knows about it. Your invoice from RC should show that amount on it, so make sure you have a copy somewhere (electronic or print).

You will be charged for the dinner at the time. The OBC will cover it later on your shipboard account of purchases.

Sheri & Stan...now, I get. Thank you for this additional information. Yes, I will definitely bring a copy of the invoice with OBC.

  7. Yes, go to the cashier and ask for cash against your onboard account. They will charge you 5% above what you ask for.

    Another question, please!

In doing so, is there anything I need to show the cashier that I have a $200 OBC? Setsail Pass perhaps or cabin #?

Thanks, Bob and everyone who chimed in.

  8. If you have OBC that is not refundable, you can get cash in the casino, with a 5% charge. Last cruise I had $100 in non-refundable OBC, and there was nothing I wanted to spend it on. So, I got $100 cash, for which I was charged $5. I think that any charges made onboard are paid for by whatever OBC you have, before they apply them to your credit card (assuming you have given them a credit card to cover your charges). When I made the reservation for next February, I was told that they were no longer making My Time diners prepay gratuities. So the OBC that came with my reservation will cover the gratuities and internet access - with maybe a little left over to cash in at the casino.

Thank you everyone for your input!

Grandma Petania...my OBC is non-refundable; I guess I will do what you advised. How is it exactly done at the casino? Do I make the transaction with the cashier?

I've chosen My Time dining and gratuities have already been paid since I reserved the cruise last Aug.

  9. OBC is exactly that - you use it onboard ship and not before. The only way you could use it for Chops is to reserve once you board. Otherwise, as you know, your credit card will be charged.

Thanks, Karen for the clarification. I guess this will be the first on my list to do once onboard.

  10. I have an OBC of $200 on the Legend. I would like to reserve dinner for two at the Chops. It cost $30/pp. If I make a reservation online & I would like to use the OBC, how is it done? I understand in a normal situation, your credit card will be billed immediately for the dinner reservation.

Can someone please advise what needs to be done to pay for dinner with OBC?

    Thanks.

  11. We'll be sailing on RC's LEGEND to Panama Canal. Does anyone know if you can "self-checkout" at disembarkation? If doing so, you don't have to leave your luggage outside your door on the night before.

We have done this last year on Celebrity. We informed the purser the night before. The following morning, after we have docked, we just went ahead with our luggage in tow and exited the ship.

    Thanks for any info!

  12. We just returned from our Danube River cruise with Gate 1 on the Amadeus Elegant. The ship was beautiful, the staff was outstanding and the food was good enough for me to gain 5 lbs. Even with less than ideal weather we loved it and wanted to spread the word....a good way to travel the Danube.

Hi, I hope you are still reading posts in this forum. We're on "M/S Sound of Music" with Gate 1 and while I've come to know that the ship is 6 yrs old, it doesn't really bother me that it's not a new ship. This is our first river cruise experience and we have nothing to compare with so we'll take it as it is.

Since you have cruised with them before, I'm wondering if you can provide some information about the city tours included in their itinerary (not the optional tours). Specifically, I would like to know if the guide/s took you INSIDE museums, cathedrals or other significant buildings and not just a walk by or drive by sort of thing. The itinerary aren't specific.

    Thank you.
