  1. Exactly..the reviews on Constellation somewhat made me look at other itineraries and ships. For our first cruise we would like both a nice boat and good itinerary experience. Am now checking out Edge although I wonder if four Spanish stops is too intensive. Thanks for all your feedback. Am keeping Venice in mind...is it just as much a must see as the Amalfi coast?

Our first ever cruise was on Constellation two years ago, Italy and Adriatics. Loved the ship, superb crew, great itinerary. We are well travelled just previously did not cruise. She is a great size ship - kinda biggish but still feels intimate enough.

  2. Has anybody used this app yet? It is currently only available for three ships- Reflection, Equinox and Constellation. I am wondering if it is useful and will it become widely used?

  3. Made me smile to read this ----- never chatted before Kiwifromkiev but feel like 'old friends' now - have really appreciated your lovely comments ;)

Looking forward to chatting agin with folk over here on Celebrity threads as most cruises for a while have been on another cruise line (that we love).

Must take our eyes off the Edge now I suppose and get our head around the Constellation as we are on her in August in an awesome aft cabin !!!

    :) thank you :)

By the time it is time for your Anniversary cruise, there will be a few reviews here on all edges of the Edge , so you will be able to decide on the best venue for your special dinner!

Such a shame that Ocean Liners are no longer on Connie, this was by far one of the best places we’ve visited for dinner!

  4. Ok, time to resume.

All of my work is in for this class and my 120 point final exam was completed in 1 hr 15 minutes instead of the 3 hours it said it would take. I missed 1. So...I'm happy. I can finally say I have completed my next class and I now get a 10 weeks out of school (if I decide to go ahead and take my summer class I'm signed up for).

So back to the review I go!

Kim, forgive me , but for some time I had an urge to ask you a question, and now it seems a really good time (even if a bit off top). You have four children, with the youngest being only 10, and a couple of grand children. You are a nurse and are taking the course to advance your degree. You and hubby are a running a couple of businesses. You take a couple of cruises a year and you are writing these superb detailed reviews with many a great picture included! You seem to be an ultimate supermum! How on Earth do you find time and energy to do all these??? Have you ever thought of doing motivational speaking to young mothers? 5. This thread made me wonder what is appropriate for tour guides. Do you tip the guide or is the price of the tour all that's expected?

The answer is it is not expected. We have never tipped for tours in Australia. Occasionally an American in a group would do so, but even that did not seem to be a widespread trend. By any means - if you have a great guide and you want to remunerate them - go ahead!

  6. Have gone for the 19th August 2019 Rome to Rome as we get the chance to stay in Rome for 3 nights before (in a hotel we have used before with Celebrity) and get the chance to go to Sorrento (where we went on honeymoon --- ahh). Have done most of the ports before but on this occasion it is a mix or ports and the ship that made this the one to do. Will join the roll call (if there is one) when we book at the weekend

    :-)

Oh, Aricederchi , Roma! [emoji7]this is perfect!

  7. The last time we were this 'excited' we'd booked Silhouette and then spent the next 18 months watching her grow from a piece of metal to a lovely ship. Will never forget that feeling when we set foot on her for her first Med cruise when she was about 3 weeks old.

It is just so .... exciting ... to have that "We're excited" feeling again !! Means we have made the right choice. :-)

Look forward to getting to know you all over the next 18 months ;)

Now all we need to do is sort out the cabin we want ........

    What date/itinerary have you chosen?

  8. Well, well. Those new payment machines presented tableside that have a tip line or percentage tip pre-set option. That's cheeky. Service charges are already built in the menu prices. You may feel pressured into tipping above and beyond this.

Ignore it. I tip cash if I feel like it and the service was great. I found up if I feel like it. I refuse to be bullied into tipping.

Oh, one thing in Australia that REALLY gets my blood boiling is the refusal of Australian restaurants, cafes etc to split bills. They always let customers work out their own share of the bill.

Not sure I understand - do you mean to have more than one bill per table? This is not common in NZ either. But they will be happy to calculate for you for what you pay - no problems

  9. You need to understand something here Australia is not United States, yes both first World Counties, but then the comparisons start to stop. I never lived in Australia but have spent time as a tourist and as a guest of friends in their homes.

The workers have pride in the jobs they do. They do not believe they should be rewarded for just doing the job they agreed to do. A taxi driver takes you from A to B and quotes a fare, that is the payment. If you want to give something extra, yes happy to take but they really do not seem to judge.

In my opinion when you tip in Australia it is more about you acknowledging that the person provide great service. And while yes they are happy to take the money the acknowledgment of the service is just as important. I would never tip in AU as I would in the United States as my local friends would see that as a insult to the standards they practice.

Also, in Australia and NZ employees are paid at least the minimum wage which legislated for.

I would not see it as an insult if anybody tipped here the same they do in States though. This is personal choice. Although tipping is not expected it is ALWAYS appreciated.

  10. Because you dine on regular MDR food (except for one special menu item each day). Celebrity AQ and suites, and Azamara all have much better food than Princess suites.

Understand (have never been on Princess). Then a question arises - if you get a suite on Princess and pay for specialty dining you probably still better off? (Not sure if Princess offers free (perk) drinks package)?

  11. If you booked an Aqua cabin, you’d have paid a premium for Blu, so perhaps you’d not feel the need to dine in specialty restaurants. The complimentary wine and beer selection on Azamara appears quite limited compared to Celebrity’s Classic beverage package perk.

But then the question is why Princess suite is only 2/3 of X? [emoji50]

  12. I have seen such stupid questions here - that this didn't seem out of the norm for a certain type of cruiser at all. Trolls also generally don't have a substantial post count.

Duly noted that I am an idiot.

Me, too! I have seen so many stupid? less rational? questions that I thought this was just another one of those!

  13.

Try it because there is no formal night.

Can anybody tell me please - why not having a formal night is a good thing? What is wrong with dressing up for the occasion? It really confuses me why this is seeing as a positive (not just here, in many other posts as well, especially where people promoting/raving about smaller/luxury lines?)

  14. Kim, honestly - I did not know whether to laugh or cry at your hotel adventures! Just to repeat what many have said already- love your review!!! The only problem is that it makes me want to go on holiday NOW and I have another 8 months to wait ;)

on another note - I can’t get over how young you and your hubby look considering your oldest son’s age especially! I am sure it has a lot to do with your personality and bright outlook on life!
