Did you wear anything particular for the tropical party? What was the typical dress code for this?

    TIA

I have to admit we did not attend the parties, not much into the dance parties.  I am sharing the info for everyone else.  I don’t think too many people dress up because they don’t know ahead of time except the white party which there were many dressed up.  Now that the themes are being talked about more, maybe soon more people will know and bring clothes to dress up.

Last night was “60s, 70s, 80s” night.  Tonight is elegant night number 3.  Here is the menu from MDR last night:

I am going to get the unlimited wifi package. Weirdly your not allowed to stream Netflix etc thru the web but can use YT. All apps are ok does this include the Netflix app 🤣.

I stream tons of YT videos thru the app.

How is the DL speed. Any noticeable buffering?

Hi the internet is pretty slow at sea.  It’s fine for emails and some web sites but videos it’s not that great.  The YT app does work but it’s slow and buffers a lot.  I am guessing it also depends how many people are using the WiFi at that time.

Excellent!  Thanks so much again for keeping us up to date on the evening party themes!

I have another quick question for you.  Did MSC provide you with any information on what the various evening theme parties were going to be when you received your boarding passes?  Another source said that MSC sends out that information along with the cruise documents.  As far as I can remember from my two past cruises with MSC we did not receive any such information ahead of time.

I personally did not get any information ahead of time regarding themes, other than on these boards, nothing from MSC.

Are there any public locations aft by the staircases where you can hang out and watch the back of the ship?  I understand that there is the top public deck and the back of the buffet is sort of open, but can you hang out in the back on other (cabin?) decks?

Someone else responded with a possible inside location.  I have not seen any outdoor locations at the back of the ship except the buffet tables and the upper deck, nothing low.

  5. I started this thread to answer any questions on Meraviglia while I am onboard.  I didn’t mean for it to turn into a place for a bunch of complaints about the ship.  We are having a great time and have no major issues!

Tonight’s theme is Tropical party for those interested.  Here is tonight’s dinner menu for those interested in MDR menus

quick sporting question if I may - we are sailing from Miami in early January and I was wondering if you have seen any of the venues showing footie in the morning (based on time difference in the UK)?

    Thank you 🙂

The other poster is correct that there best bet is the Casino and the Pub when they are open.  The Sports bar on Meraviglia actually doesn’t have TVs and is more for the arcade.   The Satellite has gone out a few times on this cruise but supposedly it was due to being far North.

Thanks for the show info and picture! It's very clear.

What about power outlet in room and bathroom? Do I need to bring European to US convertor?

I would suggest yes.  The desk has one double US outlet and one single USB port plus 2 European outlets.  By the bed is only a European outlet and the bathroom has a shaver outlet only.

Aww no food in Sports Bar?  We enjoyed having the option of (free!) bar snacks on Divina.  So I see that no food is served in the Sports Bar on Mera, and limited pay-for offerings in the Pub.  Are there wings available anywhere on the ship?  Is any pay-for food offered in the Pub worth the upcharge, or is it the same burgers and stuff as the buffet and you pay for the privilege of not making the hike there?

Also on the subject of (free) snacks - are there finger foods or snacks available in any bars/lounges, or is it only MDR/Buffet?  On Divina, there were light snacks you could get at the wine bar (La Cantina Di Bacco), and Piazza Del Doge almost always had sandwiches and some nice cakes available.  Anything like this in the wine bar/sky lounge/anywhere else on the ship?

We are getting on Mera for Thanksgiving this year (Martha Stewart Thanksgiving dinner apparently will be available, not that I will be interested unless she gets reaaaaally creative...), and we have a Cirque dinner included with our booking.  Isthere more than one time available for Cirque dinner daily?  I believe there are 2 cocktail shows but only 1 dinner? Having seen the dinner reviews, not impressed and would rather have dinner elsewhere, wonder if they will trade for a cocktail show instead.

I have not seen wings anywhere other than the room service menu which has a $7.95 service charge when ordering.  We had the food in the pub and I would say that the burger was fine but is the same as the buffet/grill burgers but the fish and chips was good and unique.

For Cirque there is two dinners.  See my previous post, I just posted the Cirque schedule for tonight.  I am not sure on the trade for cocktail and show, we didn’t have one included with booking.

The pub serves potato chips with drinks, other bars serve a snack mix.  The Sky Lounge has finger foods available.  Here are a couple photos from the Sky Lounge.

Thanks for checking the internet for me.

Another question, how many show times are there in the theater each night? Do you have problem reserving it? Which show time is less busy?

    Thanks again.

There are typically 3 show times each night for main show plus 2 for Cirque when that is playing.  Sorry I can’t answer which is less crowded but no problem so far on reserving.  Today there is 3 showings of the main show, plus a comedy show plus 2 of Cirque.

IKR? Gotta just laugh at MSC blunders. Did you catch the price of wings in the sports bar? They are more expensive if you by 12 as opposed to 6.

Just clarifying for first timers since this is a Meraviglia thread.  There is no food served at the Sports Bar on Meraviglia.

Are there any hidden areas that are less busy? Any outdoor areas other than the top decks? I've been on other ships that had loungers in the lifeboat area with some views and peace and quiet. Just curious

Any area not part of the deck 6/7 main central mall/promenade is less crowded.  No one is using the outside areas on this cruise because of the cold temps/high winds.  They are all beautiful and will be great in the warm weather areas.  The water slide park is open daily but it’s not used much nor the outdoor pool.  I saw one person all week use the outdoor pool.  There are many great areas on the upper decks but the deck with the lifeboats does not have any view on this ship unfortunately.

May I ask, after you embark do you see a better internet package deal than the 20% off precruise? Trying to decide should I buy it now or wait. Thanks!

No I haven’t seen any specials on that but I wasn’t looking.  I went back and looked at my papers from the first day and there is nothing related to internet packages in the room paperwork.

Thanks so much for the update!

Are there many passengers dressing in the themes?

Also could you tell me what the "Space Party" entailed?

I have not seen many passengers dressing to any theme except white party which had many people dressed in white.  Sorry I didn’t go to the space party.  Tonight is Elegant night number 2 and this is the MDR menu:

when you have a moment and if you have a chance, can you please snap some pics of the MDR dinner menu? You don't have to post them while you cruise if the internet is slow, but I'd appreciate it if you posted them later.

How's MDR food? How's buffet? You can compare to other major lines if you want. We've been on Princess, RCL and NCL before.

We have found the main dining room food to be good, not excellent.  Portions are small in some cases but you can get a second entree.  The buffet is very good, they have a lot of different stations, pizza, hamburgers/hot dogs, salad, meat and cheese, breads, several different hot dishes, a chef slicing meat such as turkey or beef etc, side dishes, tacos/nachos, soup, fruit, dessert.

I have two of the MDR menus.  I will see if I can get a couple more this week.

Can you please let me know if in the regular dining rooms there are tables for 10 or more? If you can get me a plan of the dining room tables (the maitre-d would have one) I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks.

Hi do you know which dining room of the 3 you are interested in?  It’s very hard to find anyone to answer questions during the day but I could take photos.

What beer(s) do you see onboard with a price that would be included in the easy package?

Thanks for doing this Q/A btw.

I believe the only draft is Heineken in all bars but the pub.  I am not sure which are included in Easy package but I will ask next time I go to the pub.

    Thanks for the tips!

We're looking forward to sailing onboard the Meraviglia in December.

Can you tell me what theme nights you had on your cruise?

    How many formal nights?

Was there a Flower Glory party? White Party? Pirate? Gatsby?

    Thanks in advance!

So far we are on night 4 of 10 so I can’t answer completely yet.  We have had 1 elegant night so far.  Tonight was Little Italy in the MDR.

There was a Pirate party, Space party, tonight is Thriller party and tomorrow is White party.  I will let you know about the rest of the nights.

I hope you don't mind my posting but we just got off the Meraviglia yesterday and I wanted to mention that the hairdryer was in the drawer of the desk.  We were in an ocean view and I couldn't find it till another passenger told me 3 days into the trip .  Hope this helps someone.

Great additional tip about the hair dryer!

  19. I can try a few.  The embarkation process in NY was very simple.  When you arrive at the pier, you hand your luggage over on the lower level.  You then board an elevator to the upper level, pass through a passport check, followed by a security screening of yourself and hand luggage.  Then you are sent to a line to check in based on your experience booked or status.  We arrived at 12 and we had priority since we were Aurea but none of the lines were long.  They give you your cruise card at check in and a boarding number, then you sit and wait for your number to be called to board.  We boarded immediately and went straight to lunch in the buffet.  Rooms were ready about 130pm.

Beverages are free at the buffet, in the morning it’s milk, fat free milk, chocolate milk, several flavors of juice, water, coffee, tea and hot milk.  In the afternoon and evening, there is water, ice tea, lemonade, two juices, coffee, tea.  A soda is about $3 at the bar but depends on the bar as I have seen different pricing.  It’s been Coke products on this cruise so they must have changed when coming to USA.  You will also have a mini bar and can buy a soda from there as well for $3.25.  I have a package that includes the mini bar but you can buy individual.

Internet access is slow but ok for email.  No streaming and slow to load photos.

I can’t really answer on deck chairs because on this cruise we are in cold weather.  Yesterday at sea barely any were in use.

Pool towels are provided in your room.

I will for sure give extra cash for tips on top of the daily service charge, specifically to our room steward who is excellent.
