What burden??? You upload a PDF document that you probably already have a copy of. I'll take that "burden" over a test where I may be asymptomatic positive and have to cancel last minute.

I was mistaken on the new policy. I thought they were doing away with testing completely. And they were requiring those that are vaccinated to show proof and unvaccinated don't have to do anything.

Agreed!  I am just stunned that vaccinations will not be required after all the industry has been through.  The industry wouldn't survive another shutdown.  Why would they risk other outbreaks, regardless of how large or small?  I'm vaccinated, so I'm not worried about catching it either.  Once opened again, we may stick to lines that require vaccinations for a while.

Because they still lose out on a lot of people that decide not to go because they are requiring vaccines. Maybe they can't survive at half capacity either?

  3. Hi! I'm looking for a bit more information re: snorkeling at Nachi. Do they take you out on a boat? Or is it just somewhere off the beach? I'm considering taking the kids snorkeling while we are there but the hubs doesn't swim and isn't really interested. Curious how long the snorkeling is? Or, would snorkeling right off the beach area be an option for us if we brought our own equipment?

  4. We were there in May and they still offer the water, soft drinks, chips, salsa and fruit. Also, snorkel gear! There are some waiters walking around that offer beverage service, but there is also a bar relatively close. We didn't realize we could pick our cabana so there weren't many options when we got to do it. So, check in with the excursion desk to reserve yours quickly.

We had cabana #16 and it was close to a bar. There was a little path to the water, but it was rocky. I was recovering from a sprained ankle and I was worried that I was going to twist it again. But, I did like that it was on the farther end of the island closer to the adults only cabanas so it was a little quieter.

If you have any other specific questions I'll try to answer since we were just there. We really enjoyed the cabana and thought it was completely worth the $$.

  5. My last 2 cruises, I've ended up with amounts in the $20pp range in addition to obc 5th at I've gotten for other reasons (promos, price drops)

My theory is that they calculate taxes and fees at 90ish percent occupancy and if the boat sells out then everyone* gets a little refund

This would make sense. I checked to see the price on a balcony room the other day and there weren't any available. Perhaps the cruise is sold out?

  6. We leave in 8 days for our last minute 10th anniv. cruise we booked a month ago. We haven't cruised in 9 years and quite honestly haven't had time to think about a thing. We are undergoing a full basement remodel and it just hit me today that we leave next week. I've got dramamine on my list. Cash for tips. Sunscreen. Two bottles of wine. That's it. Anything obvious I'm missing?

  7. It's been 9 years since our last cruise and we are taking one in 11 days for our 10 year anniversary. I don't remember how the S&S card was from our last cruise. Is it an actual card? Do we need a lanyard of some type? We are doing the Cheers program so do they just swipe or scan that?

  8. Do you have a neighbor the kids could do a 1 night sleepover with to get to school the next day? (Or maybe even one you could drop them off at 6:00 an get put on the bus? That at least buys you an extra 45 minutes...)

That would be cutting it too close for me. I try to plan enough time to change a tire, for instance, and still get there with a bit to spare.

Yeah. I'm thinking about this. I might be able to get my Mom or my sister to come over and wake them up and put them on the bus. They are just 15m away. We don't have a whole lot of other kids in the neighborhood. If we got on the road at 6 that would put us there at 1 without stops.

I checked the Charleston cruise and it's $250 more total. The Port Canaveral cruise is a really good deal!

  9. Thanks everyone. We are trying to do a last minute cruise for our 10y anniversary and found one leaving thursday 8/27 out of Port Canaveral. We are on the southside of Atlanta and it will take us 7h to get to the port. We would gladly leave earlier in the morning or the night before, but we are really pushing it to get the grandparents to watch the kids four our trip as is. Our plan was to the put the kids on the bus at 6:45 and get on the road. We would pack a lunch and eat on the road and only make one gas stop (might not need it). We are on the southside of the city so we don't have to go through that city traffic. We do have about 45m of some back roads and 2 lane highways until we get onto 75S (Griffin for those that are familiar). There wouldn't be any traffic on 75S unless we hit an accident or roadwork. So, if we cruised along without any hiccups, that would put us there at 1:45. I just don't know if we could make this work.

We actually haven't purchased the cruise yet and was going to book tonight. There is another option out of MIA we could do but we would have to redeem 40k FF miles to do it. There is also the issue of if there are any flight delays. Ugh.

    Decisions decisions.
