I started solo-traveling when I was 34. I am now 55.

I did mention to her the attendant already knows how many will be sailing in that cabin. She shrugged and said so what. I guess it gives her peace of mind.

I was part of a conversation recently with a few ladies. We have all cruised solo and with family/friends. One lady asked what precautions do we take when we cruise solo. She, herself, said she brings men clothing/shoes for the cabin to appear she is not traveling alone. She has decorated her cabin door with his/hers names and even a pic of a couple. When getting a bar drink, she makes small talk to the bartender that her husband will be along shortly to order his drink.
I found this interesting, but a bit odd. What say you? Have any of CC solo cruisers felt unsafe or wanted to give the impression they are not alone?
Thanks!

Interesting if that check ever shows up. Still smells fishy.

I've always wanted to get clarification on this:
So, if I book a cabin for, say, me and a "friend". The friend will be a "no-show". Would I have paid passage for two people instead of one? Should I do final payment at the last possible date?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, the contract takes precedence over our own way of thinking.
I hope you can find peace with this issue.

Say I am reading an interesting, lengthy thread, but don't finish it because I have some errands to run. I return to the thread to finish reading it, but don't want to wade through all posts until I find where I left off earlier.
is it possible to do this? How?
Thanks!

I have so enjoyed your trip report!

If it's very early in the morning and I'm heading to the pool to swim laps, and all I do is go straight from my cabin to the pool and back again, I might wear a robe. (I do bring coverups as well, which is mostly what I use.) But that's it for the robe. I agree with others that wearing a bathrobe anyplace where food is being served is just gross. Last summer on a HAL ship, this guy walked up and stood next to me on the buffet line at lunch time. Gross.
Wow! And it is cinched quite tightly.

Whether I am in a hotel room or a ship cabin, I always stuff a kleenex in the peephole for privacy. Yeah, I know you see out and other can't see in, ideally. But I am Seinfelder and The Reverse Peephole episode has me tainted! Kramer and Newman switched their peeepholes, it could happen.

Look to the left of the thread title.
For threads you have already posted in there should be a star. It will be blue if there are any new post since your last visit.
For threads you've read but not posted in you will see a dot instead of a star. Again if it is blue there are new post since your last visit.
By clicking on either the blue dot or star should take you to the last unread post.
Also another tip is if you hover your mouse over the thread title and wait a sec a window will pop up and you can either select to view the first post or the most recent post in that thread in the pop up window.
Thank you, SFG!

Hello,
With the new version, do I have the ability to do the following:
I view a thread here on Cruise Critic, reading the questions, answers, etc. Then I go to some other website to check the weather or learn how to plant a rosebush. I return to Cruise Critic and want to read that same thread that I enjoyed before hoping there are new posts. Is it possible the thread will go to the last post I read or will it take me to the beginning of the thread with posts I've already read.
I have seen this feature on other boards and it is a time saver having not to wade through previously-read posts. Thanks!

I booked a sailing online for September 2019, but wasn't given the option of Air2Sea during any time of the booking.
Did I overlook it or is booking Air2Sea not available for a sailing that far into the future? Also, when I went back onto the RCCL site, I cannot find where to book Air2Sea.
Thanks!

A few friends of mine decided to take a girl’s trip on Empress of the Seas, a short 4 night cruise with an overnight in Havana. We are all professionals, with husbands and kids. All in our 30s and 40s...Not a rowdy bunch.
Professional friends won't let professional drunk friends be alone and left to their own devices for that long of a time period without checking up. Not one of the other three professional friends went looking for drunk professional friend? Not one of the three professional friends was notified about the savage in the dining room, the scantily clad woman in the hot tub or the irate passenger who escaped her cabin - TWICE!
This is quite the tale. Thank you for the "novel" submission.

If it's just one person you should get a FCC for $150, lose $100 for the cancellation and get a credit of $16.99 on the credit card you used for the deposit.
This is so helpful! Thank you, Molly!

Hello, I need clarification please.
On September 7, 2017, I placed a $266.99 nonrefundable deposit on a sailing for June 9, 2018 (minimum deposit was $250.00).
Unfortunately, I had to cancel the reservation yesterday.
Is the $266.99 vaporized into thin air or is it suspended as a credit to use in the future?
If it is a credit, do I have to call RCCL to confirm I do have this amount as a credit? I don't see anything when I log into my C&A account.
Thanks!

Cancel them and enjoy the cruise with your grandmother.
This. Because at this point, even if they offer to make the payment, the milk is already spoiled.

I sailed Anthem twice last year, March (Cruise to No Where) and September (Bermuda). I enjoyed both cruises and want to sail her again.
I enjoyed the ship itself with the modern look and sleek design. Plus Bermuda is so beautiful!
The shows are okay, but I find myself walking the decks, playing in the casino and listening to music in the venues. And then relaxing on my balcony is bliss.

. . . Here's one thing that might stop people from doing this. The next time you walk down a hall and see a tray of dirty dishes, knock on the door a few times and then just keep walking. If the people in the cabin stick their head out into the hall and ask why you knocked, tell them it's because they left their dirty dishes outside.
Here's the flaw with this suggestion (and I've seen this happen in hotels and on a cruise): a passenger/guest will put their food tray in front of SOMEONE ELSE'S door - next door or a few doors down.
So if you are the unfortunate recipient of an errant tray in front of your door and some aggressive comes-a-knocking to berate you for the misdeed, imagine the exchange. Just sayin'.

I agree with those who didn't quite care for The Gift.
My opinion: I thought the setting was beautifully done, the singing talent was nice. Outside those two positives, the premise was "yawn". I get the storyline, but it was not interesting enough to me to follow. I slipped out after about 4 songs.
Will self-serve be gone from the buffet due to virus experience?

I am not a fan of buffets of any kind, land or sea. Some folks out there aren't as sanitary as others. And all it takes is one person . . .
