  1. I'm confused - will the balconies on Summit stay as they are? Or become Infinite balconies like on the Edge?

I am not sure. There is a prototype someone showed on this thread that was put on one of the Millennium Class ships recently. Is it just to show the concept for those that will sail on the Edge and/or to show they will also be on other ships. ??? I don't know if it can be confirmed that the infinite verandas will actually appear on the Millennium class after the Revolution.

  2. As a counterpoint I found the water temperature in May too cool for me. I won't go in May again if I am planning on beach time. Second week of June is the earliest for me.There is a variation among individuals on water temp tolerance. People from New England also seem to have a higher tolerance for lower water temps. Also there may be differences from year to year. I read that water temperatures were higher than usual this year.

It seems May can go either way. I have read that May is when Bermudians start to go in the water. I agree, everyone's idea of what is tolerable does differ. For only ever being there in July or August, we never had to worry about the water not being warm enough. I love going in the water, so deciding on whether or not May is a good time...??? Decisions, decisions ;)

How are the outdoor pools on the ship during that time? I imagine May can be iffy leaving from NJ. There are years when it's as hot as can be and then year's when we're still wearing jeans and jackets. At Sea Days for me are spent by the pool, being out on deck. Is it usually warm enough to swim outside I wonder?

  3. The chairs don’t look comfortable and the balcony doesn’t look very deep. I wonder how hot these balconies will be. You won’t get the same airflow as you do above and below the present dividers. Is there some kind of safety sensor on the exterior “railing” window when it moves up and down? How do you close the folding doors if you want to sit on “the balcony” and keep the cabin air conditioned? I’d love to get feedback from anyone who has stayed in this room.

I prefer connecting balconies. This new type of balcony does not appear to be able to be connecting. We shall see. I agree, those chairs look ridiculous. They appear to be folding chairs (back bottom cross bars). Currently, M-class ship balconies are smaller and from my research, most do not seem to be connecting. I have only sailed S-class ships and having the balcony dividers opened is the first thing we ask our cabin attendant. I cruise with family and friends and we always get cabins in a line. The feature of not all being connecting on the Summit is one of the things that makes me hesitant to book. I know it's a small thing, but when you like something, you like it. I sailed years ago on ships that balcony dividers couldn't be opened, but now that they do...I am spoiled with that option.

It will be interesting to see what the new cabins after going through the Revolution will look like. Hopefully they took all of the good aspects from the S-class and worked them into the new design. :)

  4. I sailed to Bermuda May 20-27 out of Bayonne, NJ. It was 80 when I left NJ and finally not raining. The 3 days in Bermuda (May 23,24 & 25) were absolutely gorgeous. The temp was in the high 70's low 80's without the humidity you have in July & August. The water temp at the beach wasn't too cold at all. I would go again at the end of May in a heartbeat. Also hardly any kids on the ship at that time. I have also gone to Bermuda in September and had iffy weather. Not very sunny and plenty of heavy rain/wind storms in the afternoon.

That sounds perfect! :) Thank you for the information.

  5. With possible reconfiguring, it makes it challenging to pick cabins. Will they still be the same category after the Revolution? Luckily I have never had a cabin reassignment but how do they go about it? Do you get to choose or do they just assign you and then you can try to change? At that point, there probably aren't many options left.

Since there currently isn't any known way of telling what the changes will be, I guess just choose the cabins I want and keep a close eye out for when the information becomes available. (yn)

  6. We've cruised to Bermuda on numerous occasions in May out of Boston.........usually around the third week. The past two times the weather was iffy, and the water in Bermuda is still quite chilly. We much prefer to go in September. It's really hit or miss. But I can honestly say we have only once had to depart Bermuda a day early once in all the times we've sailed in September due to a storm.

    Thank you.

  7. We just went on a cruise to Bermuda May 25-June 1 and the weather was amazing! 80 degrees when we left Boston and 80s in Bermuda. Water temp was a little chilly but we all went in!! Have a great time!

That sounds like perfect weather. ;)

  8. Hi! I have always been to Bermuda in July or August which have brought sunny, hot days. :) (my preference for a cruise)

I know weather can change but on average, what's the weather you have experienced mid-to late May while sailing to Bermuda from NJ/NY?

    1. Is it usually warm enough to use outdoor pools? Is the outdoor pool temperature warm enough to swim?

    2. Bermuda weather?

    3. Bermuda ocean temperature? Is it warm enough to go in?

~ I have read that Bermudians tend to take their first dip in the ocean towards the end of May. On average, May is the driest month as well.

Thanks for any information you can provide. =)

  9. I thought I read that your drink package did work with room service but not on the mini bar in your cabin. Is this not the case?

This is from the Celebrity website under the Drink Package Section. This is part of the * section.

~ Packages may not be shared, and do not include beverages sold in gift shops, mini-bar, or room service.

  10. It says add additional staterooms? I hope not.

    Laura

Perhaps a new category is what they mean? Unless they plan on adding a mid-section like they did to the Enchantment of the Seas years ago. Hehe ;) I doubt that so maybe just new classes. ??? It does say "Additional" though. Maybe single occupancy since they would be smaller, still need the space though. The M class are smaller ships to begin with so what they would take away, I have no idea.

  11. To add on to what others have posted.

    1. If you have a preference for the type of water, for example Evian - then you need the Premium package. It's the only water I drink so that's one reason I need the Premium. ;) They give 1 L bottles. There are some areas that have the tiny bottles which are good to take on an excursion. You get one bottle each time. We always make sure we grab a bottle before heading back to the cabin throughout the day this way we always have bottled water.

    2. The allowance for alcoholic drinks - you can pay the difference with the exception of drinks at the Martini bar, you need the Premium package to get these...another reason I go Premium ;) There are some drinks around the ship that are over the Premium allowance, again you just pay the difference with the exception of a specialty martini flight that you have to pay for.

    3. You can easily upgrade to Premium for the difference in price per day. So if the Classic is $55.00/day and the Premium is $65.00/day...then you pay $10.00 per day + 18% Gratuity. This is a one time charge you do as soon as you board. When we sail, if we don't have Premium already, then we upgrade as soon as we get on -OR- if we have it already included then we make our way to the Martini bar to order our first martini's and write our names in the ice. ;) With your classic package...you can upgrade for $10/day + 18% gratuity.

    4. Cafe Bacio - drinks are included if you have the Classic Alcohol Package or Above. I am not a coffee drinker but I love Cafe Bacio! I stop many times throughout the day/night for an iced tea. Fresh brewed right in front of you. You choose the type of tea you want. Tea Forte is the brand they have.

Two more things: 1. Alcoholic drinks are not included with room service. 2. You can use your package on their private islands (Labadee, CoCoCay).

Final thoughts...when I first started cruising, they didn't have drink packages. You paid per drink. When they started having them, it was on Royal Caribbean and at that time both people had to purchase the package. Since sailing on Celebrity - both people do not have to have it (unless it's a free perk you choose) - but both people do not have to upgrade which is nice if one person wants it and the other wouldn't utilize it. After sailing with a drink package...I don't think I can go back to not having one! ;) Drinks, Evian and my fresh iced tea!!! =)

  12. I met a person who is in a unique position to discuss the project. He was going from ship to ship to evaluate what Celebrity needed to do. We discussed the project and he told me that ALL cabins would be replaced. The plan is to remove all current cabins and replace them. Plans change, but that's what I was told.

Thank You! Good to know. Yes, it seems we need to piece together information from different sources to see what we can determine before it happens. ;)

  13. Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I am very particular when it comes to cabins and their location. ;) I have always passed up the Summit because I love the Silhouette and Reflection and feel like I won't like the Summit as much. We know someone who has sailed on the Summit a few times and as of summer '16 they did not give it top marks. I love Bermuda and since the Summit is the only Celebrity ship that currently sails there...I have thought...just do it because the food and service should still be the Celebrity standard and Bermuda is the destination...and I love Bermuda. =)

When I heard the Summit was going to be part of the Revolution...I thought maybe it's time to try the Summit since the current cabins and bathrooms have been a huge deterrent for me. However, not knowing what the cabin situation is I am hesitant. I know I can always change but I book for a group of my family and friends and we are always all together so last minute switching may not get me what I want.

Decisions, decisions... I know it's a cruise and so many people are happy just to be on one but as I said, I am very particular. ;)

  14. Hi! Celebrity Summit Revolution - a few questions.

    1. Will ALL of the Summit staterooms, including bathrooms, be completely re-done after the Winter 2019 Revolution?

    2. If not all of them, then which ones will be getting the new look?

    3. Will the deck / cabin codes change as well?

    4. Will veranda dividers be able to then be opened?

From what I have read it is scheduled to take place winter 2019. It seems mid-February 2019 --> end of March 2019 may be the time frame.

A Celebrity representative told me "some" staterooms. I asked for clarification and they didn't know anything.

I have cruised on Celebrity's S-Class ships, the Silhouette and Reflection. The Summit is nothing like them but after always passing up the Summit many times when looking at cruises, I thought if the staterooms and bathrooms are re-done, maybe it will be a time to give it a chance and see how it is.

Thank You for any information anyone is able to provide! =)
