  1. Such great info on this thread! I hope no one minds if I ask a related question?

I just booked our flights for our Alaska cruise and our return flight doesn't leave until 11pm, so that leaves a lot of time.

I'm leaning towards the Pan Pacific bell station and then sightseeing for the day. The question I have is about transportation from the Pan Pacific to downtown and then back to the hotel and then on to the airport. I'll be traveling with my elderly parents (they'll be 84 and 87 at the time, but they get around pretty well) and I don't want to push it. Are cabs/uber/lyft fairly affordable for a party of 4 to use?

Thanks for your help and thanks to the OP for having a similar situation to my own!

I did Vancouver last year with my dad at Canada place cruise terminal u have an attraction called fly Canada it’s a flight simulator over Canada . Also from there u can get the hop on hop off bus around Vancouver the Stanley park route is very picturesques during the city route u visit Granville island which is great for food. Vancouver it’s self is very hilly and my 70 year old Dad found it tough going with his asthma.

  2. DW and I just returned from the 5 night (Aug 5-10) cruise aboard the Grandeur of the Seas to Bermuda. This was our first time cruising on the Grandeur. We were both a little worried about sailing on the smaller Vision-class ship but those worries were quickly replaced by excitement and pure respect for this vessel.

Here is what brought us to cruising on the Grandeur. During our September 2016 back to back Anthem of the Seas cruise, we booked a December 2017 - 12 night Southern Caribbean cruise and we quickly realized that we did not want to wait that long before our next sailing. So I had the bright idea (which happens only on very rare occasions) to say, “We have a 40th anniversary coming up in August, how about taking a short cruise out of Baltimore to celebrate?” This was met with instant agreement. The stars must have been aligned that day as I had a second bright idea. “Since we are celebrating our anniversary then how about upgrading from our usual balcony to an Aft Jr. Suite?” Be still my heart! Again, instant agreement. So there you have it. This Grandeur cruise was to tied us over until our December cruise, celebrate our 40th anniversary, and introduce us to AFT and Jr Suite living. Life is Good!

We live in Pittsburgh, the home of the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins. Sorry, I just had to get that in here somewhere. So it’s an easy 3.5 hour drive to the Inner Harbor were we spent the night (Aug 4) at the Days Inn. It was a very short drive the next morning from the Inner Harbor to the Port of Baltimore.

We got to the port around 10:30. I really liked how they took our tagged luggage as we were proceeding to the parking lot. So once parked, all we had to carry to the terminal was our carryon bags. It took us all of 12 minutes to be processed and we were immediately instructed to board. WOW!

This is not a trip review but I will share my impressions of the ship and our experiences.

The ship is awesome! From most every venue you can see the ocean!

We loved the AFT Jr Suite stateroom 8588.

The crew is very friendly and engaging.

This was our first cruise as Diamond and we enjoyed the Diamond lounge which offered a great view and great service.

We ate in the main dining room 4 nights and the Windjammer 1 night. We enjoyed every meal. My wife has special dietary needs and they worked with her to prepare great dishes for her

For late night snackers like me, the Park Café is open until 2 am serving nachos, Panini’s, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, mac and cheese (a couple nights), meat balls (a couple nights), sweets, and more. Loved it!

My only suggestion to RCI is to place a Coke free style machine near the Park Café. There are 5 free style machines on the Grandeur. Four are located in the Windjammer and one on desk 6 near the Centrum. The Windjammer closes at 9:00pm so there is only the deck 6 machine for the remainder of the evening. That ain’t right! - LOL

We had a very positive experience aboard the Grandeur and we will definitely sail on her in the future.

If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them.

Sailed on her last year I know it's a bit late now but after hours there's a side door to windjammers to use the coke machine even though it was a small ship I found the crew and other passengers really friendly and the food was lovely the park cafe was responsible for a few extra pounds gained due to late night snacking

  3. Thanks very much! I'm still trying to get confirmation that we dock in Derry. I thought the Prinsendam would be small enough to dock there but based on the info of the three docking locations, it looks like we might have to tender at Greencastle. I just have to be patient and wait until the 2018 docking information is available. Patience is not my strongest virtue!!

I've zero patients either greencastle area is lovely if I were u I'd go with a ship based excertion for Derry as there are limited organised tours in the area. Though check out paddywagon tours they may have something organised for the days the ships are in port it's a beautiful area of the country enjoy

  4. If u dock in Derry it's easier to get to the giants causeway from there and a beautiful drive it's about an hour it takes me about 1 hour 45 minutes to get from Belfast port to giants causeway . If I were u I'd do the giants causeway and bridge from Derry I'm sure there will be a ship based excertion and I'd do the titanic in Belfast and the black cab tour of Belfast. Ground at the causeway is uneven but if your mum stays on the even ground she'll be fine. This is my opinion as a local
