  1. I’ve heard that there is a strong possibility that the ship will end up skipping Great Stirrup Cay and head to Nassau early.  If this is the case, what time does the ship generally dock in Nassau?

We we have two teen girls with us, and I would like to have a backup plan for things to do in Nassau in the event we arrive a day early.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I have to say, I love these boards!  All the tips and inside info keeps me occupied as I count down the days to our next cruise ... which is in a few weeks on the Escape.

Every once in awhile I come across someone mentioning deals/discounts on board for certain things / at certain times. For instance I just read someone mention that the first day there is a discount at certain restaurants!  I wasn’t aware!!!

So I ask all of you ... what deals/discounts should I keep an eye out for?

  3. First cruise we had 3 teenagers with us so we had 2 rooms.  The cruise coming up we have a bid in for the Haven, but otherwise the four of us (me, my hubby, and 2 teen daughters) will be in a mini suite.  I’m assuming the couch turns into a bed in some fashion? And then a bunk drops from the ceiling? Is this correct?  And will the room steward put the bunk away each morning?  Or will it remain out?

    Thanks!!!

I've not yet sailed on the Escape, only the Gem, and I have to say that sailing out of NYC was awesome.  Whether it's the great architecture or Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, or passing under the bridge, stay outside as long as you can so you can see them all.  There may have been a few tears shed  especially as we sailed by Lady Liberty.

I happened to wake up the night of our return right as we passed her by.  This is a lousy photo but I'm sure glad I was awake to catch it.

    Really cool photo!

  5. We had this same issue a few years back. One daughter was 2 months shy of being old enough to be with her older sister in the teen club. Unfortunately they are very strict with their age policy, however there are a handful of events that both clubs do at the same time.  Also there were some events that the older club was doing that my younger daughter was invited to (by the director of the club)  ... pool parties and such.  But in the end, because they were so strict with age requirements, my two daughters ended up not spending much time in the kids/teen clubs.

  6. My husband and I will be taking our two teenage girls on a NCL cruise in late March.  Our flight home isn’t until 730pm out JFK.  We will have luggage.  I’m now trying to come up with a plan for how we will occupy our time in between leaving the boat and getting on a plane about 10 hours later.  Thoughts? Tips?

  7. I saw it somewhere, but now of course can’t find it ... but someone mentioned that the ship will sail under a bridge the day we depart. The post recommended going up to the highest level of the ship to see the bridge up close. Has anyone done this? Know about how long from leaving this happens?

  8. Our last cruise (Getaway) I came across a similar type post for the ship and there were some fantastic recommendations! I’m positive we wouldn’t have realized Ocean Blue had a window that sold lobster rolls on sea days ... nor would we have gotten a vibe pass ... and possibly wouldn’t have made sure to catch the comedy show early on the cruise.

Sooooo, what are the must do’s (or must eat, or must drink) on the Escape? We are cruising out of NYC in March as a celebration for when my hubby comes back from being deployed.

  9. We are looking to book our second cruise. First cruise we booked through a cruise dealer website (not sure what else to call them ... In wasn't ncl.com, but more like an online agency that only does cruises). The agent I worked with was great, and really helped us pick a great cruise line and a great room ... But I'm not sure I got the best deal in regards to $ or perks. So before I take the plunge and book our second cruise, I would like to hear how you book your vacations and the benefits of booking in that manner.

    Thanks!!!!

  10. First time NCL cruisers here. We have a 12 year old (who is just shy of her 13th bday by 2 months at sailing), a 14 yr old and a 16 yr old.

The 12 year old has cruised before and hated the kids club. From what I've read, NCL is very strict about the age requirements to get into the teen club, is this true? Anything we can do to get them to bend the rules?

Also, are there kids club/teen club activities that overlap? Our 12 yr old normally hangs out with our 14 yr old, so she is bummed that she may be segregated from her on the ship.

  11. We are a family full of traditions. We are also a family taking our first cruise in a few weeks! I would love to hear other people's cruise traditions, so maybe we can steal a tradition or two beginning with our first cruise :)

    Thanks!!!

  12. Should I be concerned if our drink packages are missing from our "my ncl" pages? We have two rooms ... Me booked in one with our two girls, and my husband booked in another with our son. Having two logins to check and manage is very annoying. But in any case ... Our package came with the UB package for my husband and I, and they gave us the soda package for my son. We paid for the soda packages for the two girls (which was slightly annoying since one daughter doesn't drink anything carbonated ... But whatever). However, not all the packages are showing up on the website. I've called, and the rep says she can see them in the computer, but couldn't answer why I couldn't see them. Should I be concerned?

  13. We absolutely LOVE our go-pro! We always bring it on every vacation and create the best memory videos with the footage.

Below are a couple of examples.

    Carnival Paradise:

    Carnival Glory:

We are taking our first cruise as a family, and I would really LOVE to document it just like you did. I've been contemplating purchasing a gopro, but I'm curious about the storage capacity. Will I beagle to video and snap pics during the whole 7 days without having to download until I get home? Also, what editing software did you use?

Thanks in advance for any tips and advice you can offer!
