  1. We just did the lift and shift for our July 17th Alaska cruise yesterday.  We were Aqua class and had the Aft sunset balcony which I was able to get the same cabin with same 4 perks on the July 9, 2021 sailing.  Our Celebrity Choice airfare was non-refundable and the Celebrity rep we had on the line conferenced in the American Airline rep who explained that I only had until Nov. 6th to use the tickets, gave me the ticket numbers and told me to call American to ask for extension beyond November.  All in all not a bad experience and the Celebrity rep I had on the line was very accommodating.  He even gave me the FCC certificates numbers for our Bahama 2-day cruise we booked in April that was cancelled but we had not received any email from Celebrity yet, but at least I now have those numbers.

  2. Could be considered an Act of God under law (see below) and arguments can be made on both sides.  Did Celebrity exercise 'reasonable care'  and take the necessary precautions will be the theme.  Either way the only ones to ultimately win will be the lawyers!

[As a general principle of Act of God,[7]epidemic can be classified as an act of God if the epidemic was unforeseeable and renders the promise discharged if the promisor cannot avoid the effect of the epidemic by exercise of reasonable prudence, diligence and care, or by the use of those means which the situation renders reasonable to employ.]

  3. Thanks everyone for the input!  We had a 2-day quick Bahama weekend  cruise schedule for April 4th on Infinity. When they cancelled sailings in March we ‘assumed’ based on info at time that if we did nothing, we’d receive the 125% fcc.  The whole cruise was $684.00 total. Last week we got a credit for $255.00 on our credit card from Celebrity. When I called they said we would be getting a certificate for balance if $428. That’s the 100% full cost of cruise not 125%. When I asked why they stated I did not contact them to let them know what we wanted so they only were obligated to refund 100%!!! Still havent received letter for that credit.  So confusing and hence why I dont want to be screwed on this Alaska cruise on July 17th. I think I will call and shift cruise to next year July as I had all 4 perks. First I’ll cancel excursions I made using onboard credit  and let it go back to $500 then shift cruise and 4 perks to next year. Not worth waiting for them to cancel and fught for credit. Just have to figure out airfare.  Dont see how they think they’ll be cruising in a weeks!!

Another week and another Monday passed and still no announcement. We are less than 3 weeks from the supposed restart date of June 11th which everyone knows won’t happen.

Our cruise isn’t until October so we can wait but I feel for those of you with cruises this summer.

Come on Celebrity, we are waiting!!

Yes!  We have a July 17th sailing in Alaska and patiently waiting for the cancellation!!

  5. Hoping the cruise experts here can advise me!  We're still 'scheduled' to cruise to Alaska on the July 17th sailing from Seattle.  I've been hanging on until the official word came down that it isn't going to happen to contact Celebrity to move the cruise to 2021.  We had a $500 on board credit.  I booked a shore excursion and a dinner at Murano online thru the cruise planner using the $500 and have about $150 or so left.   If I go online and cancel both the excursion and the dinner now - does that money go back into the pot and would my onboard credit show back to $500?  Also would you advise to go ahead and move the cruise now - or wait to see when (or if) Celebrity cancels that July 17th sailing?  We booked thru Celebrity as well as our Celebrity Choice Air and have been paid in full since before the crisis threw everything down the tubes.  Thanks for your help!

  6. We’re still holding (slim) hope for improvement to the whole health situation and that our July 17th Alaska cruise will still move forward. Right now just planning to monitor until end if May to see what happens then make decision. Don’t want to jeopardize our health but also don’t want to throw in the towel just yet. I think Princess and Holland America cancelled the whole 2020 Alaska season?  May just be better to try again next year. We had an Aqua aft cabin booked too that we were so looking forward too in addition to celebrating our milestone bdays and retirement. Bummer but is what it is.

Yes, we considered those as well, but unfortunately there are only a handful in Aqua Class (which was a must for us on this trip), and they were all booked when we booked and haven't come available since. Highly coveted I'm sure!

We are booked in Aqua Aft Balcony on Solstice in July.  We booked it last August and there were still a few cabins available. Never have booked it before and Im guessing the views will be awesome, but I wasn’t sure how much privacy they’ll have from upper decks?

We are looking at the April cruise as well.  Never done one so short but it's a great opportunity to experience a suite category that we probably wouldn't otherwise consider.  The PH suite is currently available but I have no idea if the typical suite amenities like specialty dining and Premium drink package would be included on a short run...maybe we will see you on board or in the casino at Atlantis 😎.

Hi there!  Not sure what you’d receive in PH suite, but we received one perk (Classic Beverage) when we booked Veranda. It was $199 pp ... I actually think port charges were more🤣.  Can’t beat that for a quick weekend away.  Hotels at a decent beach resort cost more per night.  We’re driving in from Augusta GA area so we’ll stay Friday night somewhere along the way and get to port early to make most of our onboard experience before sail away. Hope to see you on board or yes.. at the Atlantis casino! Never been there so new adventure awaits!

  9. We are booked on weekend April 4-6, 2020 Infinity cruise out of Miami. Driving to port from SC. Just a quick little get away/change of scenery. Gamble little bit at Atlantis and just enjoy (hopefully) some sunshine. Have no expectation beyond sitting on balcony watching ocean with a good book. Our big trip of the year is on Solstice to Alaska In July. Booked in Aqua sunset veranda for that and cannot wait!!

  10. Hi and I am glad you are enjoying this write-up! Which X ship are you sailing on?

We have done 3 Princess Alaskan cruises and will do more and will always think of Princess first as they have their own lodges, train and Glacier Bay access.

We sailed on Reflection last year and are on the Equinox in 6 weeks. Loved our Celebrity cruise last year, but from what I've seen from the Princess website, they seem to offer a better Alaskan experience. Trying to figure out if its better to do land tour 1st or cruise. Im guessing saving cruise for 2nd half may be more relaxing. Claudia

  11. I'd love to think that was true but he was just plain weird! He would get these crazy eyes at times. Like Nicholas Cage from Face Off!!!!! And on Thursday night he had the nerve to come up to us and tell us to give him a wonderful review. Telling us what to put on our questionairre. Sorry. He didn't have to do much for us but be friendly, talk, introduce himself, etc. Most nights he only had us and one other table. Not good.

We had same wait staff, Ali and Ryan, on our 3/4 sailing. Same drill. Treated us with marginal service at best, then asked for a good review. He did not work well with Ryan. Tables around us were getting the royal treatment from what we observed. He engaged us in conversation one evening and we thought we turned the corner. Nope.

  12. Hi there! Just finished up this same cruise! Believe we were on the same tour in St. Maarten. Could have spent more time on the French side. We also ate at LCG the rainy night in San Juan. Excellent meal. As you stated the weather was really rough for a few days, but people overall made the best if it and still had fun. This was our first time cruising Celebrity and won't be our last. We had a Concierge Class room on the 10th floor and an excellent Room Steward. We really had a great time

  13. I'm just a preview member - first Celebrity cruise - will they still help me?

This is our first Celebrity cruise too and I booked direct with Celebrity thru the 800 #. I was able to access my order on line and in the details by paging down I found that Premium was included. I printed those pages to take with me just in case, but am going to try calling one more time to get the corrected confirmation.

  14. When booking thru Celebrity, I initially had only 2 perks (Go Better) and the classic beverage package was indicated on my confirmation. I was later upgraded to all 4 Go Best perks but the new confirmation still reflected only the Classic. Multiple calls later confirming I was was indeed showing up as Go Best on their end, they still could not send me a corrected confirmation. Continues to show Classic code but does say Go Best with other perks as well. Must be some sort of glitch so I'll make sure it's right on the Seapass.
