  1. Thinking of using this company at the port in Civitaveccia to get to our Hotel in Rome. I can't remember where, but I think I saw someone here give them a good review. I would love to hear if anyone else has used them.

We used italytours.eu for the Best of Florence & Pisa excursion on our recent cruise on Sep 28, 2022. Our driver was Simona - she was waiting for us at the exit of the terminal as promised; she was very funny, polite and got us to our locations on time and safely. We had eight people in our group; the tour was shared amongst other fellow cruisers - this was fine. The van was comfortable and air conditioned. She dropped us off in the center of Florence where we met our English speaking guide who was wonderful. It was very convenient to be dropped off in the city center, as buses are not allowed there. We had free time in Florence and then we headed to Pisa for about 40 minutes which is more than enough time as there is not much else to do/see there other than the tower. I would highly recommend italytours.eu for your excursions.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you pay per person?

The Spanish F1 Grand Prix takes place on June 4th, and that will gave an impact on prices that weekend.

Now that makes sense! Lucky me I picked the most crowded weekend, LOL

After all my searching, we got a good price at Hotel Colon. Hoping we like it.

  4. Not sure when is the best time to book. Cruise is in early June, but plan to arrive a few days early. Im noticing a big increase in most rooms for that time period. Is it because of a Holiday or celebration there? Or maybe the start of Cruising season? Im wondering if prices fluctuate month to month? Or if I should bite the bullet and book now?  Im leaning toward the H10 hotels close to Plaza Catalunya

  5. Our itinerary lists docking for 11 hours in Monte Carlo but then it has Cannes France in parentheses.
The very next day we dock in Nice France with Villefranche in parentheses.  I’m so confused, when I look at google maps it doesn’t make sense.  Please help, why does it list 2 separate towns?

  6. I would like to book a tour starting at St Marks square, but it begins at 9:30am. Our ship docks at 5am, but i have no idea when they begin letting us debark.  Does this tour sound doable or should i look for a later one?

  7. Looking for advice on location. We disembark our cruise at 5 am and have one night to stay in Venice. We would like to visit the touristy areas and debating between staying close to the cruise port (Hotel Olimpia) or staying close to Saint Marks square (Hotel Ala).  Our flight is at 11am the next morning, also wondering how much time we need to allow to get to the airport. Would one hotel be a better location, or not?

  8. Our time in Rome has been lengthened by our ship for 2 extra hours. Im wondering if Italytours would let us remain touring Rome longer than we would have been? Maybe for a price

We will be using them for 3 ports, are all the extra tickets bought online by us? Are we going to be in any lines to purchase tickets when we get there?

Also, once we have 8 people, do we have to pay then, or can we wait closer to the tour date?

I never got any feedback, but I did book it.  I didn't find easy or cost-effective transfers to Cassis, so this is my plan....

    1)  There is apparently a free shuttle bus that will take you from port to Joliette Metro station.

    2)  From there it is a short walk to main train station, where I booked a rental car.  I used Alamo/Enterprise, but there are others to choose from.  I've read many reviews of Sixt and Hertz all over Europe that claim fake damages well after you return car, so I stayed away from them.

    3)  We will drive to Cassis, which is about 25km.

    4)  I booked a kayaking excursion through Destination Calanques, which meets and departs from Calanque de Port Miou car park.

    5)  Kayak to Calanque de Port Pin and Calanque de En Vau.

    6)  Drive back, top off with gas, return the car, and back to the ship for shower and dinner!  😎

Car rental about 63 Euros.  Kayak trip 70 Euros for two.  Will be there in about 70 days!

If you were wanting to kayak out of Marseille, I believe I saw some just south of there but before you get to the Calanques.  I didn't see any that went to the Calanques, as most stayed in the Marseille area.  We specifically wanted to go to Calanque de En Vau.

Sounds and looks Amazing! We have a whole year until we cruise, but I am sold on this idea for our Marsailles day.  I would love to hear about your experience when you get back! Have a safe and fun trip!

Has anyone had experience kayaking in the Calanques?

Our ship docks in Marseille.  We are looking to get to Cassis, then rent kayaks to go to Calanque d'En-Vau.  Is this an easy DIY option?  What's the best way to get to/from Cassis?  Also, we will be there in late September, so is weather still warm enough for kayaking?

    Thanks!

I was just going to ask this same question.  Im wondering how to get to the kayak boats as well. There must be a bus or taxi at the port.

Did you book the tour yet?

  11. Has anyone taken a tour from this port other than to florence or pisa?  I would like to visit parts of Cinque Terre, and take a boat tour around there.  Looking for advice on some tour groups, or should we try and brave it on our own?
