  1. We are just off 26 days on the Sojourn. Vancouver to Seward and back. Despite the cold and occasional rain we used the Pool deck extensively, had lunch there most days and at no time was the pool deck a problem as it is confined to two areas either side of the Pool both of which are covered by Potted Fern Trees. Many functions were held there such as sail away parties and even a singing and dance party one evening. None of this was affected by the two areas of teak boards which are bulging slightly so frankly to all those concerned CC`s stop worrying about it! In fact we had very Sunny and even hot days ( 85F ) which we were told is very rare for Alaska. All in all we had a wonderful trip.

Can anyone who has done a Seabourn Cruise with Dr. Weil on board give us some insight into his program/lectures etc. We are doing the 12 day Alaska cruise as above with Dr. Weil in June and are curious as to what to expect as well as how to arrange Tours into the equation.

  4. Can anyone tell me if Rudyard Bay which Seabourn describes as CO or Cruising actually has excursions ?......There are a number of excursions listed on the Seabourn excursion site which seems a bit odd unless the ship anchors and excursions emanate from the ship?

  5. We are interested in the Grand Suites on deck 7 namely 784 or 785 and would appreciate any information, comments etc. Particularly any noise emanating from the Gym area below. Is there any Vibration in these stern suites and what is the veranda like. We are also interested in Grand 1012 or 1015. but not in the Grand suites in the front. Bow area. Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.

  6. The Dangers Of Advance Booking

We are booked on the 14 day Seward to Vancouver Cruise of June 28th.( Voyage 5836 ) Actually we are doing a back to back from the 12 day June 16th.( Voyage 5832 ) Vancouver to Seward.

We paid in November when the price was $12,999.00 for a Penthouse suite. Seabourn has now reduced the price of the PH suite to $11,999 per person. A considerable difference of $2,000.00 for the two of us which would have helped with our flights. Our TA has been on the phone all day trying to get them to reduce our final payment by the $2,000 and they have refused to do so. Belatedly by going up the ranks they have offered to increase the on board credit by the $2,000.00 which added to the previous $2,000.00 credit included with a penthouse suite gives us a total of $4,000.00.So we have to pay them the extra $2,000 so that they can make us spend $4,000.00 on board.

We are very unhappy with this and are considering cancelling the whole cruise. Does anyone have any advice or encountered this situation before ?

It makes one think twice about booking Cruises in advance when the Company will not honor Price changes and leaves a sour taste!

  7. Re Mariner 816,Tried to paste the spread sheet but no luck.So here is the information.

Summer of 2013 from Monte Carlo to Venice.

Excellent suite, very quiet although near Elevators.Good Butler. On and off Internet depending on time of day although free in Mariner Suites.

One and a half Bathrooms with all amenities.

Only negative was small balcony but not a problem to us. Convenient location to Gym ( just below ) and most facilities on the ship.

Would recommend highly. Have photos if provided with e-mail address but could not reduce enough to poste.

  8. We are live or almost live on board in a Northeaster 40 knot winds and high seas. Cold, windy and rainy from Montreal, Québec City and down the St.Lawrence. Cap aux Meules was ok,Sydney also and a nice sunny day running down the coast of Nova Scotia but Bal Harbor and Salem had to be cancelled due to weather.... now heading to Boston instead tonight and tomorrow Saturday.

Food great on board, one night at the new Grill and food was excellent.Captain Dag his usual entertaining self and Jan CD doing a great job considering the conditions. Impossible to use Observation Lounge due to a few inconsiderate smokers even decks 9 and 10 reeks of smoke. Internet very poor almost unusable due to slow speed so please do not anticipate replies to any questions.TV also very bad few channels and poor reception.

Ship in great shape for those heading south to Antarctica. Older crowd on board a lot of Brits and French Canadians heading south for the winter.

Rocking and rolling too much to continue.

  9. Thank everyone for your suggestions and recommendations. We were unable to get a reservation at the Ritz which would have been our first choice so have settled on the Intercontinental and kkmiausa we are also booked on the Oct 21st cruise to FLL .We live in Highland Beach a suburb of Boca Raton which is why we picked this particular cruise to have as little flying as possible. Have read with interest your comments on smoking and we too are delighted to hear the news even though it will not yet be in force. We too hate smoking but other than in the Observation Lounge have generally not been troubled by it on other Seabourn Cruises. Although we hated it on the smaller ships and stopped cruising on them for that reason. We look forward to meeting you at the Hotel or onboard.

  10. Can anyone who knows Montreal please give us a recommendation as to Hotels for 4-5 nights pre cruise. We have previously stayed at the Ritz Carlton back in 2005 apparently before it was remodeled into an Apartment/Hotel .We found it then a bit stuffy and old fashioned and unless the remodel changed that we would prefer a newer and more modern hotel. The Intercontinental has been recommended to us...anyone stayed there ? or has other recommendations ?

  11. can someone please tell me if Seabourn gives a discount if one makes a booking while onboard a cruise ? For example Silverseas gives a 5% discount if you make a deposit or reservation while onboard one of their ships. Does Seabourn do the same and do their also give a discounted price to past guests as Silverseas does to Venetian Society members ?

    Than you
