Well, that did not take long. I got the camera Friday late and prdered my first lens on Sunday. Not a major purchase but a nicely priced starter lens I think. I got a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G.

Looked up on pc. website doesn't appear to be working but I'm seeing a kipp2299@yahoo.com for an email.
May not be correct.
Thanks!

I am going to be in Belize again and want to do another tour with Nacho but I cannot find his email. Any help greatly appreciated.

Lexar is a good brand and makes reliable products. A UHS-1 rated card is more than capable of handling the output of your camera, even if you decide at some time to shoot video. The reason I suggested 16GB was for use as a daily card on a trip. 32GB will work just as well but will cost more to get a full one-a-day set built up. Of course, there's no firm rule. You could shoot two days on a card if that's your preference. You would likely be able to fit a whole trip on one card if you want but having too much memory in the bag is always better than having too little.

The 18GB card was $10.99 and the 32GB was $12.29. For that difference I went big :-) I know they are cheaper on Amazon but I had a Office Depot gift card so I used that for them.

As for memory, you got some good advice earlier. I carry multiple cards when traveling but though I back up to my Kindle Fire nightly, I never format them until the images are loaded and backed up at home. Just get a card wallet and start collecting good brand (SanDisk, Lexar, PNY, Sony, etc.) 16GB Class 10 or UHS-1 cards when you see a sale. One per day should suffice. (So take two extra!) Switch to an empty card every morning, even if the previous one isn't full and keep the wallet in the cabin safe.
Better safe than sorry. The cards I bought are Lexar Professional UHS-I SDHC Memory Card at 32mb. All the cards I have so far are the same kind. The man at Office Depot said they're exactly what I need but I'd rather find that out from people who know for sure :-) I have not opened any of them so if they are wrong I can exchange them. If it matters I do not plan to shoot video at all. Just take photos.

It's been a little more than 4 years since our last cruise. What is the smoking situation on balconies these days? I'd prefer not to gag on someone else's fumes if I can help it.
There is no more smoking on balconies.

Thank you all so much for such wonderful advice. I have already ordered extra batteries and SD cards and just by blind luck the kind Pierces recommended. I plan to play with the camera at home of course to try and learn as much as I can and already have the Hess Digital D3200 coming as well :-)
I have never really been much of a photographer even with a point and shoot so this is all new for me and I am really looking forward to it.

Costco had a price on the Nikon D3400 I could not resist so my first DSLR is on it's way to me as we "speak". I got myself a Pixel XL cell phone about a month ago and am having so much fun taking pictures with it I decided to take the plunge into a real camera. To say I am a beginner gives me too much credit but I have high hopes :-) The camera comes with the following lenses:
AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens
AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED Lens
Any advice greatly appreciated on anything else I might need. I leave on the Anthem of the Seas January 14.

This is a test. This is only a test. Trying not to post huge photos.

I am loving your review and you have some of the best pictures I have ever seen here on a review. Thanks and keep it up!

I'm amazed at all the people that are willing to pay such expensive prices to go to Cuba.
I'm thinking that many of these people were already booked, before the changes were made, because the prices increased once they announced that Empress was going to Cuba.
It's like a grand per person for a 5 day cruise to Cuba, and this is for an inside cabin. That does not include any port fees, taxes, or tips, and let's not forget about the $75 visa, the health insurance that is required, the shore excursion you need to pay for, and the fact that it's Royal's smallest ship in the fleet. Is it really worth all that extra money to go to a place for like 8 hours? It's not like you can get off the ship and go where you want, right?
I'm just curious as to what it is about Cuba that will have people paying outrageous prices to go there.
I have always wanted to see where my father was born. I, like others, booked immediately after it was announced and the price was actually pretty darn good. They did not adjust the prices for a couple of hours so if you got in early you got a good deal. That said, no I would not spend $2k to spend 1 day in Cuba.

I have the package that includes mocktails / juice etc so I will be ordering from the bar. We usually hand over 2 cards when we order but we will have to make sure each time they put the correct drink on each card🤐
Sent from my SM-N910U using Forums mobile app
Just each hand over your own card and make your own orders and there will be no issue. If one of you does the order for both make sure they know which card is which.

The lady who cuts my hair asked me if she could use a Walmart money card which I guess is like a debit card. You put $ on the card at Walmart and then spend it to book a cruise. I told her I would ask her if anyone knows as I have never tried it. Thanks in advance for the help!

You are awesome. I think it worked!

I have a photo on my computer that I am trying to make my CC profile picture. It's under the size limits but when I try uploading it to CC nothing happens. I am not very good with computers so I am sure I am doing something wrong but I have no idea what. Any helpful hints?

I spent 12 days on the Serenade early this month and other than 1 night where they had beef short ribs the only beef option ever offered in the MDR was a strip loin. Even the steak Diane was just that sauce on a strip loin. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this happen on other ships? I am used to seeing prime rib and filet and other cuts of beef in the MDR.

I travel solo as well and have gotten 2 drinks at the same time or have had one and then was served the second in the same siting but I very much doubt you'd be allowed to leave and come back for the 2nd drink.

I am a blackjack player and do not play slots at all. I am wondering what kind of action do you need to qualify and get offers for future cruises? Not sure if anyone here can answer this question or not. Thanks!

Hi all,
Thanks in advance for your help. My husband and I are both D+ and I am wondering if we would be able to use my specialty restaurant BOGO on day 1 and use my husbands on day 2 since we each get one? We are travelling on the Explorer if that matters.

What is a promenade view balcony?
My apologies. My dyslexia got the best of me. It was a inside promenade view cabin.

RCCL Explorer of the Seas 9/23/16 Pacific Northwest is $707 + taxes for an inside or $725 for a promenade view balcony. Not an amazing deal but an unusual itinerary.
If you want to go b2b the 8 day after this on 9/30 is $778 + taxes for an inside.

I am booked on this cruise and the port charges I show when I booked it are $70pp less than they show right now. I have seen port charges change before but never by that much.
-
And when I continue to see great deals, I'll continue to say it :)
and I appreciate it each and every time.

Pinnacle Sister Wives! ;)
Does this mean I can keep my husband ( I'm still pretty fond of him) and marry you too Carol? You are kinda cute.
What kind of bag do you take off ship with you?

I have been looking at the case that came with my camera and it is very obviously a camera case. I am wondering what kind of case or whatever you guys take off the ship with you in port to hold the lenses and such you think you'll need for the day?
