  1. I personally was shocked at how expensive the Ultra's were and I don't want to go out of Miami.

Carnival is slowly pricing themselves out of the Casino comp business. I went on an Elite and it was completely free sans Port Charges and most of the other Elite guests agreed that they were looking at other cruise lines because the offers have gotten so bad.

  2. They take the customer satisfaction surveys very seriously. For matter of fact when I was on the glory the whole casino staff was taken on an all expense paid excursion because of their positive reviews and staff being mentioned.

You were never limited to one or two staff members rather you want to mention anyone that made an impression as they get bonuses for this.

  3. I am not 100% positive but one thing to think about is if you cash out a large amount of money at the casino I believe they are required to have you fill out tax forms. So while it might be a wonderful idea you may be taxed on the money as winnings. I would double check this first before you actually do it.

  4. The Elite cruises are normally for only 30 - 40 cabins max on each cruise so when they are filled, they are filled. And it is first come, first booked and I was told that once it is filled they don't send emails to let you know if you didn't make it.

Once you get confirmation, someone will call from Carnival to get your reservation.

You will then get a few emails. The first will be for drink preferences in your cabin (one bottle and one mixer each). I actually opted for bottled water because the Elite includes a drink anywhere on the boat for free card.

You will then get an email to get your flight info and eventually you will get something on the excursion, which will be one of the last ones.

So in answer to your question, you can always book your excursions and then cancel once you know or keep emailing your host until they let you know which port.

In our case we went out of Miami and it was Roatan. However, the ocean was too rough and we never docked so they gave all of us $100 Casino cash.

There were a plethora of drawings everyday and almost all for the Elite's. The one time I wasn't there, my name was called. There were several people who's names were called numerous times.

Had a wonderful time, met some really nice people and the Casino Staff was incredible. Since there are just a few of us, they all made an attempt to get to know us.

  5. I had the pleasure of going on an Elite cruise a couple of months ago. And I had to tell you that it was pretty incredible. Not like an ultra cruise but a little different.

On our cruise, it was limited to only the first 35 cabins so once they’re filled their filled. So basically it is on a first come first serve basis. And we had less than three weeks before the cruise actually set sail.

After I was booked they sent me an email asking me my drink of choice for the room with mixer. This is for both guests.

It includes a Steakhouse dinner with the casino host, drink card for anywhere on the ship, multiple drawings and excursion with the hosts (ours was in Roatan and was cancelled due to rough seas so we got $100 casino cash instead). Plus incredible service in the casino.

I only hope I get another invite (and I am not a high roller).

  6. I have been on two cruises this year. On my New Years cruise I played slots and got 8500 points and ended up winning a $2500 jackpot the last night. I played Let It Ride for many hours playing $5 and $10 on the 3 card. I won about $800. Ended up for the cruise up almost $4000. But I played about 5 - 7 hours a day.

My next cruise I played a lot of slots and never won or lost but got over 17000 points. I also played some Let It Ride but not much since it was always busy. Probably played a total of 5 or 6 hours a day and the rest of the time enjoyed the cruise.

On the other hand my wife probably played 8 - 10 hours playing blackjack with $25 minimum bets and she got nothing.

I have heard that Carnival is trying to get new Cruisers. So they are offering better offers to newer cruisers (Red category) better offers and Gold, Platinum and Diamond lesser offers.

I am a Platinum member but for some reason they have me with two VIFP numbers (one as red and one as platinum), which I combined after I booked the Elite cruise.

So I will be honest to say I don't know how I got the invite since my wife plays more, plays longer and has more days at sea than I and she didn't get the offer.

I guess what I heard about better offers for newer cruisers could be true but that is just a hunch.

All the same, I'm going on the Elite and probably alone. But I am going to try to have a fabulous time (I know I will).

  7. I'm sure we will since we will have an excursion together, steakhouse dinner together and I believe dinner in the dining room together.

From what I have heard they try to keep the Eliter's together.

I can't wait. I just wish the flights were a little better on Southwest.

  8. I hadn't either. I've been on Premier and an Ultra (thanks to my wife's play).

The only thing I know is that they will pick me up at the airport, it includes a DOU card anywhere on the ship and an excursion.

It's a balcony cabin and I only paid port charges.

  9. I got the invite for the March 24 Glory and booked the Elite cruise.

Has anyone been on an Elite cruise and what should I expect?

The lady I talked to at Carnival wasn't real helpful but told me she had heard it was wonderful.

    Anyone????

  10. I too got the offer and I was able to rearrange to go.

I've never been on an elite and not really sure what to expect. If anyone has gone I'd love to know what to expect.

The woman at Carnival told me there would be 3 this year and normally the offer goes out about 3 - 4 weeks in advance and are first come first booked. And rarely if you turn it down do you get the offer again until the next year.

  11. I have all the same that have been mentioned. We usually go on Premiers under my wife's play. And I have been on one Ultra the same way.

Today I got an email for an Elite which I had never heard of and it was under my play. I figured I have approx. 25K combined on the last two cruises.

But the weird thing is the offer was for me under a different VIFP account that was Red. I am Platinum.

So,has anyone had this happen to them?

Anyone been on an Elite and what should I expect if I actually get it and go?

  12. So I just got an offer today and responded and now I have to wait three days until I hear something.

Has anyone gotten an offer recently, been on one recently and if I go, what should I expect.

I have been on multiple Premiers on my wife's play and one Ultra, the same way.

Funny thing though. For some reason they have me under a different VIFP number and show me as Red instead of Platinum.

  13. We were on the Splendor over New Years and ate at the Steakhouse. First time we have been disappointed. Service was slow and food was not wonderful.

And we have eaten at the different Steakhouses on 6 other ships and our meal was comped by the casino so I can't complain that we paid $35 each.

  14. We were on the Breeze in Nov. and the Internet was a little better than mediocre but better than the Splendor over New Years which was horrific.

On the Breeze we had no problem making wifi calls.

Also, strongly suggest you prebuy the wifi package. You will save almost 20%.
