Hi The caves of Drach are possible from the port I think I have given details somewhere further back.

If you go in the peak months it will very crowded, try to find a tour company on the island that pick up from the port, you can go on the bus or hire a car which is the best option for me.

Come back to me if if you needed to know more

We will be there the third week in September, is that a crazy time to visit?
I am searching for a private tour guide for my group. I would love any recommendations from you (or anyone on this board). Thank you again!

Hello do you recall the company you used to visit the Drach Caves?

  5. Valpacino, thanks for the review , husband and I were on this cruise on Deck 10 just Fantastica level. We were on this cruise mainly for the itinerary and theme as we loved seeing all the Halloween costumes and of course dressing up. We found this 2 nd MSC cruise on this particular ship not as good as the Divina in layout and service. We loved all the shows and entertainment. Bummed out we only had one nice weather day in Cozumel but had a great snorkeling experience there and sorry we missed Ocean Cay as it is a fabulous island. And yet again rain on and off in Costa Maya.

Curious where you live as we too took alligator Alley to Miami and live in Bonita Springs. Do you have a restaurant here or nearby?

Limerz was sold out when I emailed them. We ended up going with NCL's Excursion to the Mystic Beach bar / restaurant and had an enjoyable day. Shade was very important to us with my 90 yo mom with us. It's very close to the port and I thought "wow we could have done this on our own". But we had a reserved portion of the beach under permanent palapas; the regular day trippers were squeezed together a little ways down the beach under tiny beach umbrellas. Lunch was a simple salad-chicken bone in-pasta combo. They provided the complementary beverage to us at our palapas. Bathrooms were meh though. Hope this helps.

Oh so it wasn't Runaway beach the excursion only says beach break, not Mystic  🏖️

    Hi All,

We are a group of six (5 adults / 1 child) looking for recommendations for a nice beach day in Antigua and are considering either NCL's Beach Escape or a resort for the day (beach Limerz? or other suggestions?).

We were contemplating NCL's excursion but read somewhere that it goes to Runaway Beach? Also heard Runaway beach has an odor?  is dirty? Despite the discount on the NCL excursion (total cost with transfers, and lunch equals $240 for the six of us), I have my reservations about the NCL excursion...

We're looking for a nice beach, loungers, umbrellas, shade, and passive things to do: walk, look for shells, etc.

Food / drink is not really important.

Any recommendations would be very helpful.

    Thank you,

What did you end up doing... ? I am looking at the same options.

    Can't read it.

So any recent data? I am trying to book an excursion for April 6 th and the ship Jewel is due in port at 8 am and the excursion begins at 9 at a nearby marina ( not a ship excursion)

  9. We arranged taxi ride with another 4 members of our roll call, I had booked a "free" walking tour with the red umbrella group and had the best 2 hour tour ever. Just loved all the areas you can revisit and pubs around that you can relax and watch the world go by. We didn't do a canal ride but did so in Amsterdam.

Bruges was one of my favorite stops in our British Isles cruise back in Sept 2022

  10. Husband and I booked our own way to the top via the boats that 2 brothers have stands as you arrive.  It was not an easy way to do it since they dropped us off at the bottom of a very steep road to get to the bus that took us to the top towns Fira and Oia.

We did come back on the cable car, it was quick and easy.

Here is more info with a quick Google search

https://santorinidave.com/santorini-port#:~:text=The best way to get to Oia from the Santorini, port with a welcome sign.

    Santorini Port to Oia

There is no direct bus from Athinios Port to Oia. Getting to Oia by bus requires a transfer at the somewhat chaotic bus station in Fira; the Fira-Oia route is the most heavily-used on the island. The fare from Athinios port to Fira is €2.30/person, and the trip takes about 20 minutes; the fare from Fira to Oia is €1.80/person, and the trip takes about half an hour. Bus fares are cash only. 11. Just recently bid on an upgrade from a GTY balcony to a club balcony hoping for a better location  since  I was assigned forward deck 12 on the Encore.

Looks like there are some balconies left for booking but at about  $600 more than what we paid total on deck 9.

Is there a group of people or a single one deciding on upgrades comparing what you paid originally and what you are offering?

My email saying that they have received the offer says they will look at it beginning at 14 days till one day before the cruise.. Dec. 18th.

thanks for any insight on this.

  12. Everyone's interest in exploring are different so with that in mind I will share the only port I did a walking tour ( different itinerary , mine was the British Isles) but in Zeebrugge we got a taxi for 6 of us at the outside of the entry terminal and arrived on the main square where I had previously booked a red umbrella walking tour. Great info and time spent exploring areas that were not all touristy and then returned to a couple after for further exploration.  This was my favorite place that we had stopped at.

  13. Husband and I rented bikes and rode around town, according to posts I researched.   I found a blog with many ideas.  https://www.bikeorhike.gr/bike-rental.php

    • Explore the harbour front – whether you walk or cycle, there are luxury yachts to admire, endless coffee bars, promenades at sunset and shady parks on the stretch of harbour between the port and the beach.
    • Hire a bike to enjoy the cycling city of Volos with flat streets and seaside paths.
    • Try the Tsipouro – an anise flavoured spirit which is served with plates of mezes.
    • Check out some of the street art in Volos, with striking murals from Greece’s top urban artists.
    • Spend the day in Makrinitsa – balcony of the Pelion with amazing views over the city and sea.
    • Take the little train of Pelion from Ano Lekhonia up to the pretty mountain village o of Milies.

The harbour front divides into different sections, with the port at one end and the beach at the other. The area between the port car park and the commercial port is a good place to look at yachts and see some smaller, traditional fishing boats.

    3. AGIOS KONSTANTINOS PARK AND ANAVROS PARK

The stretch of harbour beyond the University of Thessaly building is backed by a pleasant green space named after Saint Konstantinos, whose church also sits overlooking the sea. The broad promenade makes a great place for cycling and the trees offer some cool shade to sit among the statues and sculptures. There are a number of seafront cafes to choose from at the park, to indulge in the unmissable Volos pass-time of morning coffee.

Continuing past the church, you’ll walk through another green space, Anavros Park where there are some striking sculptures of the Greek Sculptor Philolaos Tloupas. The concrete orbs bounded by metal that shimmer in the sun, remain from the 1st International Sculpture Symposium that took place here in 1988

    HIRE BIKES IN VOLOS

The stretch of harbour front that I’ve described is quite a long, albeit very pleasant walk, so you may like to hire bikes to get around while staying in Volos. We hired from a shop called Bike30 that’s close to Agios Konstantinos Park and I think the cost us a reasonable €28 per bike per day

    8. STREET ART IN VOLOS

I was surprised to spot some street art murals as we explored Volos and on investigating further realised that there’s a whole outdoor art gallery waiting to be discovered. Much of it is due to projects by Urban Act, an organisation that promotes street art and organises mural festivals in Athens and other locations around Greece.

    ST NICHOLAS CATHEDRAL IN VOLOS

In the heart of Volos is the square with Agios Nikolaos or St Nicholas Metropolitan Cathedral which is surrounded by streets of shops, restaurants and bars. It’s a landmark of the city and worth a look for the beautiful frescoes and peaceful atmosphere among the bustle of the streets nearby.
