  1. Hello there. If I remember correctly, we had 14 formal nights on our world cruise. I used a couple of long dresses with different tops, jewelry, and jackets. DH wore long sleeves shirts with a suit coat, and several ties. As we went along, he got more and more informal. The jacket came off as soon as we came in, eventually he lost the ties... ;) You see all kinds of things. The ship will be bigger this year. In our experience, the bigger the ship, the more relaxed formal nights get.

Enjoy! We still talk about our trip!

  2. Hi, Host kat,

I'm still having trouble opening the Research tab on the top of the page. I click on Research, the list in the box comes up to the lower right, then each time I try to move the cursor to the list, the box disappears. I'm using a Mac laptop. I was trying to get to the News section, but can't open it. Just wanted your tech people know.

    Thanks, Kristy

  3. Personally, I'd take the one on the side. The view to the front is amazing, but we found it a problem many years ago on my parents' 50th anniversary cruise on a different ship. They were below the bridge, so had to keep their curtains closed at night so the light didn't reflect into the bridge. (Don't know what deck the bridge is on this ship...) It was also a problem when the ship was underway. They either couldn't use the balcony because the wind was too strong, or it blew everything around whenever the balcony door was opened. My parents spent quite a bit on their suite, but I was disappointed in the limited use of the balcony. Enjoy your trip!

  4. Oh my, I am so excited to have found your thread! We were on last year's World Cruise and just loved it! I remember Rich, he is quite a character and pretty interesting to sit down and talk to. We remember Dr. Mitchell, the most traveled passenger. He does the choir every year. Be sure to go and listen when they perform early in the morning when sailing into Sydney, it is magical. It was fun to get to know the dancers as they helped with many of the activities. Four of the dancers and Charlie, the male singer, have returned for another tour.

I read that the seas have been a bit rough. We found that last year as well, though once we got past New Zealand we didn't notice it as much. Whether we just got our sea legs or the ocean was smoother, it was hard to tell.

Enjoy! I look forward to read more about your trip and our beloved Pacific Princess.

    Kristy :)

  5. Thrak, I'd sail with you again!!! We had so much fun on our 28 day cruise! We do have friends that we sailed many years ago that we are in contact with on Facebook. One of them we have sailed with about four or five times, twice we found out just before we were sailing that we would all be onboard. On our long cruise we made several close friends that I am in contact with, and another couple that we will travel to Palm Springs this October to visit with them when they come down from Canada. As was mentioned before, many people have business cards that they pass out. I brought them home and put them into a special address book just for cruising. Guess what Dave is getting for Christmas? ;)

  6. Wow! Great photos. My wife and I really looking forward to our trip on the Pacific Princess in January. We'll be on the Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles segment of her world cruise. We are in 8064 - the suite on the aft port corner. Based on your photos, its going to be a very comfortable trip.

  8. Years ago we did a private excursion with Randy's Happy Horses. Randy has since passed away, but her cohorts have continued on with the business. We took local transportation, which was interesting and good for our teenage boys to see, and we rode the horses on Stone Island which is right across from the ship. At one point we were riding on the beach, we were the only ones on the beach! We then had more than we could eat while sitting with our feet in the sand.

We just did the Los Veranos zip line in Puerto Vallarta, I was very impressed! The crew was outstanding, and we had 14 stages. It ends at a restaurant by a stream with a slide into the water for those that want to swim. They brought some animals by our table and they have some to check out. We walked to their office near the port and they bussed us down to their facility which was south of town in the mountains. i believe they were the first zip line in North America.

I enjoyed snorkeling in Cabo and the port is easy to walk around. Several times heading back north just past Cabo we spotted a large pod of dolphins, watch for them! :)

  9. Have fun on your trip! We had a good time on the Star last month. We had the $99 package and were able to get quite a few pictures. The package was only available for a short time, and the photographer on the Star said they would not be continuing it. They do have formal set ups around the ship, more on formal night, but no roving photographers. They do take embarkation and port pictures, and have several opportunities at activities. Enjoy!!

  10. We had the $99 package recently on the Star. The photographer mentioned that they are no longer offering the package. We enjoyed it. You get all the pictures that were printed, except exact copies. If you so much as move a hand on your pose, you get both pictures. We had friends new to princess traveling with us so we took more pictures than normal and will share them with them. We often only get the embarkation photo, so we got many more than normal. We're planning on giving some to our grandchildren. :) The package shows up on your card. You just need to bring the stick with you to have the photos downloaded.

  11. We were on the Royal in the fall, and I agree with the OP. We often cruise Princess and I think this was our least favorite ship. The food was 'fine', but not great. Our servers were wonderful, we were with them for 20 days, and appreciated their service and care. During dinner one of our table mates ordered something and our waiter guided them away from their choice. We trusted his recommendations and he'd say something or make a face if our choice may not be a good one.

We found that we missed the promenade and a good inside place/bar to sit and look out to sea. We'd take her again if we really wanted the itinerary but wouldn't seek out a cruise just to experience her again.
