Resurrecting this thread to ask .. Has anyone had first hand experience having used and received the Amex $500 or $200 promo on a cruise that subsequently been cancelled by Royal?

By using two different cards, we managed to get $700 back on a cruise that was cancelled yesterday. My thinking is that I don't won't to take the full refund back to either card since that could trigger a claw back of the promo. I plan to default to FCC instead.

However, airfare (Air2Sea), taxes, and fees will be refunded to one of the cards. So there is still risk of claw back. Of note is that the merchant listed when the promo paid off was Royal Caribbean, so they may have a stake in the claw back.

I am in similar situation, will receive FCC for the cruise fare but taxes/fees/excursion will be refunded back to the card. Just checking to see if someone has first hand experience on what will happen to the AMEX credit if Refund put me under the offer spend threshold.

It does not have to be one transaction, you can purchase something in the cruise planner to put you over $1500. I can confirm having done this, as well as others. The only difference is you may or may not get the email that says you used your offer. The credit will still show up on your AmEx account a few days after the purchase that puts you over $1500, once that charge moves out of pending I think.

Thank you so much. I will just do that and report back with my experience

  3. Need some urgent advice, I am booking a new reservation and trying to redeem 500$ off 1500$ offer. My booking along with Prepaid gratuities and insurance comes to 1450$. Is there anything else that I can add to my reservation that will move my booking over 1450$

Also does 1500$ has to be spent in one transaction or can I process 1450 now and then use rest in the cruise planner to trigger the offer?

    Thanks in advance

Hey guys! Getting on the Odyssey with my nearly 2 year old next weekend. I booked this cruise sitting at home with a crying infant😅 I can't believe it's finally here!! But also we're going on his first plane ride and it'll be a totally different experience for me I'm sure.  I'd love to hear from those that have done it so I don't feel like maybe I was totally insane to do this:)

Also I've heard they will loan you toys from the adventure ocean for your room, has anyone heard if this is still happening??

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

    Kelly

Yes I was on Jewel last month. We were able to get toys from adventure ocean. You can also get crayons and play doh

    Alexandria,

Could you please tell me about any testing that was done while on your cruise.  I know you have to submit a negative Covid test to embark, but did RCL do any testing during the cruise or any before you disembarked?

No additional testing for vaccinated guests. If you have unvaccinated kids in addition to negative covid test they will also be tested on boarding day and additional times on board depending on length of your cruise.

That is great! Where is your cruise heading to? We sail Jan 15th and it will be our first cruise since COVID.

We would be curious how your check in goes and anything else interesting you see. have a great Cruise!!!

Ours itinerary initially included cayman island and Cozumel which was later replaced by Costa maya.

It was a fun cruise but I surely saw the effect of pandemic. With fewer guest on board and less budget to work with, menu was limited in dinning room and windjammer with fewer options.

Check-in process was very smooth and well coordinated. We had to get additional  covid test for our son so there was a little waiting involved but other than that. Smooth as breeze.

if you are looking for a pre cruise hotel close to airport. I would strongly recommend comfort inn and suites near the Miami airport. They run shuttles between the airport and also have complementary shuttle to port on the day of cruise.

Call up RCCL, ask them to email you a Cruise Vacation Receipt. Also clarify one more time while on the call if this is an OBC or a refund. I was after the final payment, my understanding of the policy was that I receive an on board credit. I talked to two different people and both state that I am getting a refund to my credit card.

When you get the Cruise Vacation Receipt you will see a line item for Total Charge and a line item for Amount Paid. In your case as was mine the Total Charge will now be LESS than the Amount Paid.

This is enough to demonstrate that you have a credit with them which you would expect to be offset (since you called and they said they are reimbursing you for the difference).

Now if they told you that you have a refund coming to you then you are done. Watch for your refund in the timeframe they promised (I got mine much quicker) and if you don't get it no problem, you have the Cruise Vacation Receipt that shows you are owed this.

On the other hand if they promise you an on board credit then check on day one of the cruise at the customer service desk to see if it has been applied. If not show them your Cruise Vacation Receipt so they can make that adjustment as you can't spend an on board credit if they haven't applied that credit to your account yet.

Having the Cruise Vacation Receipt handy will probably make you a lot more comfortable that you will either get your credit due to you or know that you have the proof in hand to make it happen at a later date.

    Enjoy your cruise.

    Thanks

yes.  I just had this occur a couple of weeks ago for my 11/12 sailing.  The difference which was OBC was applied the next day.

What if they don’t process the request before my sailing? I get nothing or do they refund ?

  9. I had a price drop on my cruise today. I am after my final payment so will get OBC. RCI customer service forwarded the request to another department.

Someone have an idea how long does it take for them to process?

Rep said it would take 14 days atleast but my sailing is in 7 days. What happens if I don’t hear it back from them before cruise. Anyone had similar issue?

Not yet.  I called the crown and anchor number today and they told me they are working on it. It may take another 48 hours to get it fixed. I’ll post here once they get back to me.

Thanks that's what exactly they told me but when I went back this afternoon and tried to book it. After filling my son's info, it took me directly to CDC questionnaire without giving me option to select date/time or ship. I received an email confirmation with correct ship and date. It just said that show up at your selected arrival time

    Your appointment is scheduled.

Your test will be performed as part of check-in at the terminal.

Location: RCG PORT MIAMI TERMINAL G - JEWEL

You guessed it! Used to be phenomenal, used for years. Now I have two future bookings stuck with them and one I had planned to move to them that I didn't have them attached to but not a chance anymore. Not worth the couple hundred bucks in freebies they give. Sucks. I believe my payoff auto pay happens mid next week and I'll be livid if it goes on a credit card I no longer have VS being paid off in full by a FCC I have.

I noticed the same issue which the same company. They were great before but with covid they must have downsized and now you can never talk to anyone when you call.

Have to leave a voicemail and wait for them to return calls which can take days.

I feel bad for the agents, never had issues with any of them, very professional but I don’t like uncertainty and no response

They are not acceptable for unvaccinated kids.  You are likely going to have to find an urgent care, lab or hospital that will do testing the on a 2 year old.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will start with his primary care physician office. They will surely know.

When they required a PCR test for kids, telehealth wasn't allowed.  But according to their website right now, children can get a PCR *or* antigen test (highlighted below), which would include the supervised home test:

    • Unvaccinated kids age 2 to 11 must show a negative test result for a PCR or antigen test taken no more than 3 days before boarding day. Kids’ pre-cruise test cannot be taken on boarding day, because that may affect the sample taken during the kids’ test at the terminal.

on a different FAQ about telehealth. It mention only for Fully Vaccinated guest. So its really confusing. I tried calling their helpline and even they were not sure.

Maybe someone with first hand experience can tell if Telehealth Supervised test are acceptable for Unvaccinated Kids?

For fully vaccinated guests cruising from U.S. ports, we accept self-administered COVID-19 tests taken under live video supervision.

Telehealth self-tests taken at home must meet these requirements:

    • Per U.S. CDC guidance, only vaccinated guests may present self-administered telehealth COVID-19 test results at the terminal to satisfy the pre-cruise testing requirement.
    • The test must have Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. FDA.
    • The self-test process must happen under live supervision on a video call with a telehealth representative.
    • The telehealth provider must issue you a result document that includes all the necessary information.

Royal has since stated that you CAN use a non-PCR test for unvaccinated children -- you just can't do it the same day as the cruise.

But I also read that they don’t allow tele health supervised test for unvaccinated guest. I m having hard time finding a test site for my 2 year old. Cvs and walgreeb do test for 3 or older

  15. I am okay with them changing the itinerary; just the suspense is killing me. There is no other sailing before mine going to grand cayman so I have no baseline.

hopefully they decide soon and then we will know for sure.

i love it to be coco-cay, that way out 2 unvaccinated 2 year old can get off the ship without the need to buy shore excursion
