  1. We were in 6272 a few months back, it's listed as obstructed view but there's no lifeboat directly outside, (actually, the outdoor patio for Jamie's was right below us, but wasn't used on our trip )

Loved the location, very little movement, 270 was right down the hall.

In fact, we liked it so much we booked a 12 nite in Feb 2018 and grabbed the same cabin ! :)

  2. We were on Anthem recently too, and 270 was our go-to in the mornings for a simple breakfast and R&R later in the day..Loved it !

Jamie's was great too, Izumi's not to be missed. My wife and I aren't that fussy, the main dining rooms were fine for us but sometimes it's nice to spend a little extra and enjoy what's offered..

and honestly, the hotdogs by the bumpercars weren't bad at all ! :)

  3. We did a 12 night out of New York. Absolutely loved the ship and the service was faultless. The food was fantastic and we loved Dynamic Dining and are in mourning at its passing. We saw many facilities for young children and a fantastic pool area for children only. Our only downer on the trip was listening to the inevitable whingers complaining about nothing (ship moving in heavy seas/not arriving at port til 3pm (it was in the itinerary ) /not enough smoking areas).

Look accept it as it is and if you go on the cruise in a positive frame of mind you will enjoy it.

Agree 100% we were on the 12 night Oct 29th out of NY, loved it ! And yes, there's always those people that just have to complain about somethin'...

Nothing to worry about, you'll love it !! :)

  4. Just recently spent 12 nights in 6272, loved it ! It's listed as an obstructed view, had the davit for a lifeboat off the the LH side, and below and to the right was the glass roof of Jamies.

I'd book this cabin again for our next cruise on the Anthem, the upper entrance to 270 was right down the hall. ( my favorite place for breakfast and some R&R ) :)

:edit: and...the pics are upside down :(

  5. Others will have different opinions (that makes us critics: ) but we love Maya Chan. We have actually been there 7 times. From the time they pick you up in a taxi van until you returrn, it is a lovely time.

They have a limit per day so it is not crowded. When you arrive, you are served any drink you would like and snack on excellent dips. There are different sized rather private sitting areas, some with total shade.

The beach does have grass float up depending on the winds but they are raking it all day. The water temp should be fine and they have wonderful chairs you float around on. Last time we were there, a staff member took drink orders while you are in the water and then comes back to serve you.

The owners and all staff are friendly, attentive to details and provide excellent service.

Lunch is authentic and has a variety of local fare. They have a website and a webcam so you can see more for yourself. They ask in advance what time you would like a taxi to return to the ship.

I always say we will do something else for a change, but once we book a Western Carib cruise with Costa Maya on the itinerary, we are back to Maya Chan again.

Enjoy the port whatever you choose.

Agree 100 % ! We spent the day there a few weeks ago, loved it ! The staff is very attentive but not pushy or bothersome in any way. Been telling everyone I work with what a good time we had, can't say enough good things about Maya Chan Beach !

  6. We found this helpful as we frequented Michaels Pub and Two70, probably our two favorite interior spots besides the Solarium. Michaels, in our opinion, has the best burgers on the ship and great food overall.

Anyway, if you head outside, at least on the port side from (I think deck 5, same deck as the main Two70 entrance, so either 4 or 5 I think) near the theater, you will found you can get from that forward location, all the way to a back entrance to Two70, without any of the hub bub on those busy interior decks. No waiting to pass anyone, or having to go through a crowd, just get on the outside track and book it for the other end of the ship. We loved this because, as I mentioned, we often would go from Michaels to Two70 or vice versa and enjoyed being able to avoid most of the crowd.

    Thank you !! :)

  7. The best secret we found was on Deck 6 aft. If you go all the way to the end of deck 6 and go around the corner you'll find a set of double doors that aren't marked, open the doors and you'll be at the top level of 270 and the library, you can go through the library, computer stations, and down the stars to enter 270. It's well worth your time to check it out. Enjoy your cruise. :)

Our cabin is in 6 aft, this is great to know...Thanks !! :)

  8. Not really "secrets" but info I learned here prior to sailing and some I learned during...

If you haven't booked Ripcord or Northstar, or shows - go to the lower level lobby of the theatre FIRST THING - and you can make reservations. They will have the full entertainment schedule available there for you to view (and take a copy.)

If you need specialty dining -- or you've purchased the BOGO for the first 2 nights and need to check or change the your reservations -- go to any specialty restaurant and ask them to check for you. They can change them.

Not news - but the Windjammer will be PACKED ! If you don't HAVE to eat there, try Cafe 270 -- probably much less crowded.

Soft serve yogurt on the pool deck closes around 6pm -- opens around 11:30am. Make sure you get there when it's working. There is usually a line of people and there is a sink there to wash your hands first -- and an attendant making sure you do so. Paper towels not always available.

Be open to trying the Windjammer for dinner ! Not crazy crowded like at lunch or breakfast. We found they make AWESOME soft pretzel breadsticks -- only at dinner. They were making huge donut holes for dessert the night we went -- chef was frying them and then dipping them in chocolate, etc. YUM !!

BOGO happy hour is every afternoon (330 - 430) in Boleros -- their BOGO drink changes from day to day. I didn't see a standard "Drink of the Day" in the Compass.

That's all I can think of right now -- I'm sure something else will occur to me later.

    Sandy

Thanks !! Sailing in 23 days, first time on the Anthem.. keep em' coming ! :)

  9. Seeing this as confusing is probably from thinking the options are dynamic and classic, but that is not the case. The options are Dynamic Dining Choice and Dynamic Dining Classic. With Choice, of course, you choose the restaurant and time. With Classic, you're either early or late, and the restaurant is chosen for you.

Yes, the phrasing is a bit confusing..Thanks for the clarification ! :)

  10. I'm surprised no one's mentioned this one..

The past two cruises I've been amazed at the people that seem to think they can self-carry their luggage off the ship so they can disembark first. It's a great idea if you're capable, but I've seen suitcases bounced down stairwells and passengers walking back and forth dragging one case at a time, all this does it bump up the times for everyone else..

  11. Even though FOS now has Voom, I'm seriously considering going phone/internet free.

My question is- will I be the only one? Is everyone walking around on their phones/tablets like at home?

Thank God, I thought it was only me that thought like this ! To me, cruises are a way to escape the day-to-day and disconnect and we have no intention of buying any package either... We're going on a 12-night in late October, I really hope there's not gonna be a group of the Walking Dead shuffling thru staring at their phones during dinner, around the pool, on the Promenade, etc.. :D
