  1. We have needed to show id every time we fly from Boston to wherever and back again. We travel three to four times a year.

I travel 15-20x a year and I'm a consular officer, so I can assure you that there is no rule requiring an ID. But if you have one it's way easier to just use it. Here's a source.

  2. Is there no DMV in your area? I have had a replacement drivers' license the same day that I went. Yes, you will have to wait, but you will get it the same day.

You need government issued photo ID to travel -- school ID does not count as government issued. Passport, drivers' license, state issued ID card, those are government issued.

You don't need a gov ID to fly domestic and carnival does count school ID but only for passengers under 19.

  3. DMV takes 10 days to get original card in mail, but they will print out copy. Trying to figure out if that will suffice for both Carnival and TSA.

You technically don't need photo ID to travel by air. It creates a lot of headache and can take a long time to get through security though. But TSA shouldn't stop you from traveling at all. Carnival is another issue.

  4. Is it really worth it? Thinking about going to Blue Hole then lunch here afterwards.

Like all good food road trips, the journey might be worth it. If it's only about the food, no.

  5. I get massages at home on a regular basis. I find the prices on the cruise outrageous, $110 + compulsory tip, make it to $130 for 55 minutes. I get 1 1/2 hours for $80. You can find great massages at most of our ports for much less. I also thought the cruise massage was more of a rub down, no deep pressure. IMHO

I get a 1 hour massage at home for $25 and my insurance pays for 40 massages per year. Still looking forward to paying 5x more on board though. Beats being in my living room.

  6. Send an email to FTTF@carnival.com and request to be put on a waiting list. I did that back in August for the Splendor. Was having some back problems and I decided pretty late to try and get FTTF. It was sold out but I was told to send an email and they would waitlist me. They did and a few days later I got an email back confirming my FTTF request and that they already had billed it to my S & S account. I saved the email and carried it with me for insurance. I also reprinted my luggage tags and got the new FTTF tags. Good luck.

Mentioned this earlier, but I did this and they told me they can't process my request.

Edit: just checked and some were available!

  7. From what I've read on past posts, there is someone you can email, and get put on a waitlist, and they always seem to get it, OR get an email notification that they are opening more.

I am sorry, I don't have the email address.

Try to dig a little bit more.......

    Good Luck!!!!:D

Tried this and got a response saying they're unable to process my request with no details why.

  8. I can say there is definitely such a thing as an attractive credit card offer. I have 23 open credit card accounts. I've paid them in full every month. The rewards from these cards paid for trips to maui in first class, DC in first class, California (x2), Denver, Knoxville, panama, and long weekends to the coast in Jamaica (where I live). I've never paid a penny of interest. For all those trips, I've paid roughly 1,500 in taxes and fees. That's it. They also are paying for my family's airfare to our cruise in February and my mom to fly to Jamaica to watch my baby, though I didn't have quite enough points to also pay for the cruise fare that way.

  9. I am looking into trips for 2017 and I am eyeing a few cruises from Puerto Rico with my kids who will be almost 3 and 5.5 at the time of sailing. We live in Florida and have cruised many times and our kids will have been on a few cruises by 2017. I have always wanted to do a southern Caribbean cruise from PR but I just don't know if it's too much with flying, hotel stay, cruise then fly home. We live in Florida so ports are very accessible here but the southern Caribbean itinerary seem to have too many sea days from FL and I prefer not as many with younger kids. Anyways I'm looking for some ideas- possible ships and itineraries to consider. Thank you!

Plenty of people do that cruise with 14-18 hour travel each way from the west coast. It'll be fine. I did usvi-barbados-st Lucia-St Kitts-st maarten. It's my favorite itinerary.

  10. How far from the Falmouth port is the Holiday Inn? What's the best way and cost to get to the HI? Thanks in advance!

I'd say 15-20 minutes. I've only done it from kingston in my own car. I'm not supposed to take public transportation here, so I can't give any reasonable advice on how to get around from the pier.

  11. The distance between Falmouth & Montego Bay is 36 miles.

The distance between Falmouth & Ocho Rios is 42 miles.

    :)

falmouth to montego bay is 32 km, which is 20 miles.

    ochi is 44 miles.

edit: when planning on driving though, don't pretend like those are american miles. my commute is 8 miles and it can take up to an hour in Kingston.

  12. I canceled over summer. My wife's grandfather died. They were going to charge my card for the remaining amount; however, I talked them out of it by getting my friends to book two spots and go. They kept my deposit and charged my friends the full rate.

  13. hi! Im setting sail on Monday, Dec 14th on RC Independence of the Seas and have never been to Falmouth. I went to the blue hole last month when I was docked in Ocho Rios. I really wanted to enjoy a beautiful beach this time. I was wondering if anyone has been to the rose hall Hilton in Montego bay and how far it is from Falmouth port? In addition, did you feel that the all inclusive package was worth the money? And was it difficult to get a ride there and back?

    Thank you,

    Jackie.

you could also contact the holiday inn montego bay. i live here in jamaica, and i like their beach/pool/food. i think a day pass is $50 or so. the beach has an island that you can walk out to (waist high water). there is some floating seaweed sometimes, but that is common in jamaica.
