They were given advance notice that this was going to be happening.  It might have been worth it to stay out a little later so the crew could get their well-deserved reward or, better yet, go join the festivities!

I was on this cruise, they didn't give a 24 hour notice for the crew party and it was off limits to passengers so we couldn't join unfortunately because it looked like they were having fun!  I had a boardwalk balcony that overlooked the party so we people watched a little bit.  It was definitely an open bar and the crew were having lots of fun!  It was loud but it didn't really bother me and my family.  My kids thought it was cool to see the cast of mamma mia partying it up and enjoyed listening to the music!

All day stops are at the Old San Juan Pier- so everything is within walking distance.  For the most part.

For a young family, I'd try to find the trolley to get to El Morro- and once you are there, fly a kite- it's a great spot to do that.  You can buy them there, or you can surprise your kids and get a couple of pocket kites that you can use at other ports.

    thanks for the good suggestion!

I am on the 4/14 sailing and entertainment popped up finally last night.  The times are different then what is posted above.  Also, at first go Mama Mia and Comedy were not showing up.  They popped up later in the evening.   Mama Mia was frustrating we had to choose from 8pm Day 1, 10:30 PM Day 2 or 1:30 Day 3 (sea day).  For a 2.5 hour show that's tough for us!

Yes, I am disappointed in the time options for Mama Mia.  Why 10:30pm on the 2nd night?  For a 2.5 hr show that is late!  I booked for the first night but may end up skipping it.  I like to explore more on night 1

  4. I was on this cruise as well! I agree with most of your assessment. I was there with my two kids, 3&6, and loved the Adventure Ocean! We did have problems in the windjammer with the staff not clearing our plates, maybe we went at busier times?! The big two Florida universities had spring break our week (UF) and this current week (FSU)...Like you I spent most of my time in the H2O zone so it didn't bother me too much... However if I was there without kids might have been annoying. I noticed bar service sucked, probably because of spring breakers. Missing Labadee was really disappointing but I get it. Overall this wasn't my favorite cruise but my kids had a blast! I did not care for the cruise director and his wife...I thought some of the activity schedule was poorly done...Not enough in the first half of day and conflicting (timing) of events in afternoon, forcing us to choose between family friendly options. I did find the food in MDR to be pretty good and ice show/singers/dancers to be excellent.

  5. I will have a three year old with me and I have seen pictures online of a play/splash area for younger kids but I can't seem to find any info on it. Does anyone know if it still exists, where is it on the island, and is it free?

    Thanks so much! Amanda

  6. My husband and I have cruised a lot but never with the kids. With the current kids sail free promotion we are going to finally do a cruise with our 6 and 3 year old. Our options are either 5 day Independence or 7 day Allure. I am nervous about sailing with kids for 7 days for the first time but the Allure deal is better....only about $100 more for 7 day Boardwalk Balcony versus 5 day Oceanview Balcony on Indy. Need advice...should I take the better overall deal (Allure) or play it safe with 5 day (Independence). I will be taking advantage of kids club...to be honest I know my 6 year old will be fine it's really the 3 year old I am concerned about....what would you do? If the 3 year old doesn't do well 7 days could be a long trip! Thanks!
