Putting in another vote for both lava flows and bushwhackers!

Wow, I feel lucky. I've only run into El Gaucho once so far!
I hope I didn't just jinx this upcoming cruise....

Royal Caribbean will give you double points for sailing solo, as long as it's in a standard room and not one of the studio cabins. I'm not sure if that applies to suites as well, or if you get the standard three points per night if you're in a suite. :)

Thank you Lisa!
And a big thank you for everyone's thoughts, especially the solos who have been there and done that. I haven't had good luck with the roll call for any of my previous cruises so I likely won't be going that route but I appreciate the perspective!
-
Sounds like it might vary by ship then? I could check with the DL concierge when I get on board, I guess. Is that something they can help with? This will be only my second cruise as a Diamond.

Hi all-
I'd like to try Wonderland on Harmony this fall- are the dishes served family style, or could a solo diner manage ok? Thoughts?
-
Holy moly, I'm no germophobe, but I think I'll be packing along some Lysol wipes next time!
-
I've done it! Port days are the only time I get exactly the lounger by the pool I want!
-
Does anyone know which kind of specialty coffee Cafe Promenade serves on Harmony? I'm trying to decide if I should get a package or just load up my Starbucks gift card to use on board.
-
I love the promenade deck on the Freedom class, but honestly, it felt more crowded to me than the Oasis-class cruises I've been on.
-
Looking forward to the pictures!

The furious threads posted on here immediately via phone would be worth it!

I'll be on my second cruise as a Diamond in the fall. Last cruise, I never set foot in the DL (too intimidated), but I'd like to check it out this time around- I've heard the one on Harmony is a bit small, but what's it like in the mornings in the DL in general?
-
I've always brought mine! Granted between the wind and the Caribbean humidity I may as well have left it home but hope, as they say, springs eternal.
-
At the airport! See you all on board!

Looks like it's going to be Kelly's, and also seems like it's not a long walk from the hotel at all.
I would much rather go out to eat than sit in my hotel room eating a Publix sub on the bed.
Most definitely! That's why I figured I'd do some reconnaissance first. :)

Thank you Bkchero! What you say about KL makes sense, looking at the map. Might head there, depending on what conditions on the ground are like at the time. Which would you say is a better bet for seafood between KL and Southport? :)
-
Me too! I'll be at the Embassy Suites.

Doesn't seem like it. I went back and looked, and I paid the exact same amount for my Allure cruise back in 2012 as I did for this one that's coming up.

It's bound to happen but usually on every solo trip I encounter a jerk that tells me that its so sad that I'm travelling alone. "Aren't you bored and alone?", and "You don't have anybody to share those travel experiences with!" I've been looked at with pity and heard them all. But in fact, its the opposite for me. I love to travel solo and hate travelling with others. I get to be on my schedule and do the things I want to do. No compromising with others!
Amen! Solo is the way to go, as far as I'm concerned.
As for the folks who look at you as though you're nuts for being "alone," the best response is to say "I'm not alone, I've got 3000 (or 4000 or 5000) people with me!" I've found it tends to get the message across PDQ!
-
More specifically, I'm asking about restaurants for dinner on this coming Saturday, May 6th. Between Cinco de Drinko and the air show in Ft. Lauderdale this weekend, will it be wiser to just grab some subs and chips from Publix and picnic in the hotel?

Formal night attire, smoking in the casino, tipping ...
Lobster quality, add-on fees, RCI vs. Carnival...

For me, an Oasis class is all about the ship, so I'd recommend a port-intensive itinerary on a smaller ship for your next cruise, just so you can have both experiences and decide which one you like better. :)

How is legislation going to stop someone from jumping or getting drunk and falling?
Edit: never mind, we posted at the same time!
Allure/Oasis/Harmony as a solo

Solo cruiser who loves the Oasis class checking in! I love sailing on the big ships- so much to do, and people are generally quite friendly. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment!
