  1. I helped my husbands employer book a Disney cruise a few months ago. At the time I requested for their reservation to be noted that they need kosher food. So my question is will they have the pre packaged kosher food at all meals? Or only at dinner? I know they could eat veggies at the buffet but a couple in their group will only eat the certified kosher meals that are pre packaged. At the buffet is it possible for them to ask someone to get one of the packaged meals brought out?

  2. We were on the Splendor last week and would say the entertainment was just ok. We didn't go to any of the show lounge shows either for lack of interest or because they were cancelled. We did see the Love and Marriage show which is now a featured show at night instead of an afternoon activity like it used to be. Splendor has Dive in Movies on the big screen on the lido which is nice and we did see the comedy shows. Two out of the four comedians were funny, one of the two was hilarious. One comedian was so not funny I have no idea how he got the gig. Also the singers around the ship performing live in the atrium and outside the casino went from passable to poor. One woman was just awful, lots of screeching and getting in peoples faces with the mic and dancing with them whether they wanted to or not. Daytime has trivia, name that tune, hairy chest contest, bean bag throw, stuff like that.

I agree with your assessment of the comedians 100 percent. That one unfunny comedian I felt sorry for but more sorry for myself sitting there listening to him.

  3. Good Morning Jamman 54 .....we will be on the Splendor in less than a year - I just started my countdown!!! I am enjoying your review and the fantastic pictures so very much! Thank you for taking time out of your vacation to post for all of us!!!

Do you know if the Splendor has the new pizza menu offering QUATTRO FORMAGGIO?

I hope you enjoyed your cruise:)

I was also on this sailing. They do offer the Quattro Formaggio pizza option.

  4. How many were in your cab? Did you like Valley Church? Is the beach sandy and the water entry gradual?

    TIA

There were 7 of us in the cab.

I loved Valley Church beach however entry into the water could be problematic for anyone with mobility issues. The sand is not very fine so as you enter the water it collapses under you. I had no issues with that but I saw at least three people getting into the water by sitting down to avoid that. Also it was a bit difficult to get out .

The visibility is not great but it seems to be there same anywhere in Antigua ir fine particles suspended in the water.

  5. 3 weeks to Antigua - thinking of Valley Church Beach@

Are there still chairs and/or umbrellas (or just shade which is great) to rent? How about update of restroom facilities and food and drinks?

Thanks so much! Would love to hear from recent visitor!

    Barbara

The restrooms were spotless last week. There were umbrellas and chairs to rent to provide shade. There is a place to buy food and drinks too.

  6. We were just at Valley Church Beach last week. It is a gorgeous beach and looks perfect in pictures. There is indeed a drop however a couple feet from the water's edge. We all got into and out of the water fine . I would not bring anyone with mobility issues to this beach though as in addition to the drop the sand is very soft and squishy so as you enter it collapses under your feet.

Pictures of the beach make it look like a gradual slope but it is not.

  7. We just disembarked the Splendor today. DH ordered the lobster from the steakhouse selection because the rest if our group we happy with the dining room menu for that night and he wanted end the whole lobster. He loved it and it was much more lobster than the regular lobshrimp size of the dining room (he also likes those ones too).

On another night two of our group ordered the surf and turf option and both said it was worth the 20 bucks.

  8. I am an infection control professional and I would still sail on a ship that had an Ebola infected passenger on the previous cruise even if they had been in the cabin beside mine!

I am sailing this week with no worries about Ebola.

  9. Oh My, a free taste bar.

Are people pushing and shoving like this is the last taste of anything they will get before going to prison?

LOL No! On the Breeze there was never more than 2 or 3 people waiting. The tasting options were fantastic and as an added bonus we would have a sandwich and salad for lunch there with no line up and healthier choices,

  10. This is exactly what I was thinking, although I believe it would take longer to disinfect the cabin and infirmary. All soft good and porous surfaces would need to be removed in a manner that they wouldn't touch anything else on the way out and burned, and all non-porous surfaces would need to be sprayed with chlorine bleach. The fumes from the amount of bleach needed alone would not dissipate that quickly and would render the cabin uninhabitable for at least 24 hours--that's if there was a balcony door to open. It would probably take a week before the bleach fumes were not at toxic/caustic levels with no fresh air source--and you can't just vent them into the hallway.

    Untrue.

There are many products available that will easily kill Ebola without the fumes of bleach ie accelerated hydrogen peroxide .

  11. Good-service was fantastic, staff are a cut above

Bad-the buffet food at dinner was mediocre at best

Ugly- the decor throughout the ship is very Holiday Inn -ish ie plain and neutral . Of course not typical Carnival fun ship style but not luxurious like other cruise lines either. Only the cabin decor was really nice.

  12. Regardless of what shoes you wear be very careful in the Lido restaurant. The floors on the Breeze and Magic are the slipperiest I have ever encountered in a public place. I did not have any shoes or sneakers that were slip proof. I had a couple of falls and won't go inside the Lido restaurant on either ship. Thankfully, the Breeze has Guys and the Blue Iguana outside.

The slipperyness of these floors cannot be overstated. In 18 cruises I had never slipped or felt the need to wear specific kind of shoes to prevent falling however on my 19th cruise on the Breeze it all changed. The floors in the lido restaurant were so slippery one night we saw children running and sliding on purpose like on an ice rink.
