  1. Ok Thanks so there is a supplement to pay ie £7.50 plus the cost of whatever dish you choose? & the prices for The beach House on the P&O website are likely to be out of date?

Hopefully someone will post up to date info once the Iona has been launched.

  2. Hi we're going on Iona June 2021 and cruised before but never with P&O. My question is what are the restaurant prices like and what is the food like in them. I've looked on P&O's website but couldn't see much information. The information I could find was for the Beach House a double decker burger is £1.95 an 8oz fillet steak £3.95??? This seem incredibly cheap! The Sindhu has a menu but no prices?? Thanks

What ship are you on?  Large ships dock in Venice's Marittima port. (And even some smaller ones.)  There is a small port called San Basilio where some smaller ships dock but it is very limited -- I think only two ships.

The best thing to do is to either call your cruise line and ask which port, or ask on the board here that's dedicated to your line.

We'll be on the Marella Explorer 2 so not a massive ship.

  4. Hi Folks we're in Venice for 11 hours and looking to book a free walking tour which is about 2.5 hours. The tour meets at Campo SS. apostoli I can see this on Google maps. However I've no idea where we're likely to dock. So my question are we likely to dock in Venice? and are most places inc the one mentioned within walking distance? If I know where we dock then i can look on Google maps for directions length of time to walk it etc.

    Thanks in advance.

Just had a reply from Marella Cruises.. Hi Rob, There's no bonded luggage for Naples. You'll need to collect your luggage as normal ^Kyle

my response Well can they tell their confirmation team to alter their emails that say it is coz i got an email yesterday saying it is bonded and its causing a lot of grief and confusion for people.

Marella replied to my email, Naples flights are definitely not ' Bonded '.  Pity about that, but too good to be true

Please can someone explain what Bonded means in Ref to Luggage and flights. Thanks

  6. BIG FAVOUR PLEASE!!!!:classic_biggrin:

On the Explorer 2 in August for our Honeymoon. Please can someone get the details of the social host/ess an email would be good. I want to try and plan something special for my new wife. We got engaged on the Dream in 2017 and the Social hostess helped me to arrange that. We then dined with the captain and his wife which was awesome.

Also get some pictures up can't wait to see what she's like inside.

    Thanks in Advance.

  7. Hi Folks

We're in Dubrovnik 16th August 12:00 to 19:00 and would like to do a Kayak tour, what I'd like to know is.

The excursion I'm looking at says the Kayaks depart from Near Dubrovnik Old Town and is 2.5/3 hr's.

Is this likely to be far from the cruise port? because there are 2 departure times 13:00 & 15:15

Will we need to get a Taxi from the cruise port to the likely departure point of the Kayak how long does it take to get to the Old town?

If this type of trip isn't possible what else could be done in the time limits we have?

    Cheers :classic_biggrin:

  8. Hi we are due on the Explorer 2 Aug 2019, It's our honeymoon and we got engaged on The Dream in the Caribbean in April this year (2018).

The social hostess I believe her title was helped me plan the engagement and we dined with the captain on the formal night.

My question is. How do I find out who the captain of Explorer 2 will be and who will the social hostess/ guest relations manager?? will be.

I've already asked Marella staff via online chart and they didn't know and I've emailed the UK cruise managing director of Marella. Unfortunately I've had no reply.

Can anyone help so I can plan something special for my new wife!?

    Thanks

  9. Lisbon, Cadiz & Gibraltar are easily walkable from the ship 15, 20 min if that, and the towns especially Lisbon are big enough to spend a few hours in exploring. When I went to Porto I did the bike tour excursion from the ship. If you're up to cycling about 6 ish hours from memory at a nice easy pace with several breaks it's well worth it.

If you've not been Saville consider this from Cadiz. Although when I was on the Dream a week ago, the only trip to Saville was £66 pp which is a guided tour quite a lot of money really. When I went there last year on the Spirit it was £28 I think and you had all day to do your own thing. Much better value in my opinion. Don't forget Gibraltar is sterling and buy your alcohol there it's dirt cheap.

  10. From exp of Thomson excursions most pick up and drop off at the cruise ship with little time to explore on your own when you get back to the ship depends on the excursion etc. Depending where you go in Portugal and Spain it's possible to do your own thing that will give you time to explore the town and do some shopping. Unless you want to see something specific which is why you are looking at doing an excursion.

Which Ports will you be in?

  11. The photographs are expensive and some get set in an Autumn woodland !!! I'm not suare what that's all about. Having said that we had some seascape pictures taken as we got engaged paid £135 for 5 pics on a disc. They were very good and it was a one off to get the moment captured.

I think they could cut costs considerably if they didn't print them all !! have them on a screen accessed by cabin number choose what you want and get them printed. I've suggested this on the feedback email. Doubt it'll change though.

  12. I stayed in 6092 inside cabin roomy quiet and no engine noise etc. I would pay to book the exact cabin then you won't be stuck somewhere you don't want to be. Also the cabin is mainly used for sleeping changing etc. I'd not pay the extra for an outside cabin save your money, and spend it on something else. On another subject I can highly recommend the a la cart restaurants the food is amazing as is the service and very very good value!

  13. Does a Thomson cruise holiday have 5kg or 7kg of hand luggage? Busy packing as leaving for Gatwick tomorrow and really not sure. I've left it a bit late I know!

Well that's a good question because my ticket says Gatwick to Montego Bay 23kg hold and 7kg hand. However rtn flight from Malaga to Gatwick says 25 hold & 5kg hand!! Any issues I'll show them the paperwork.

  14. Unfortunately its a health and safety issue must not exceed the 23Kg:( I have never noticed anyone over so cant help with that, but don't forget you get 7Kg in hand luggage:D, I normally pack my summer outfit inc sandals so I can change as soon as I am on the ship. It doesn't seem such a problem coming back as your cases go straight to the airport but that was in Barbados.

Have a great time and look after her as we are on in three weeks:cool:

The crazy thing is we have 25KG hold luggage coming back and 5KG hand luggage that's printed on our holiday details.

  15. Did this at 7 Day before departure as stated on booking confirmation on this site & won't let me proceed. Just says "error" & to check in at airport. Done several Thomson cruises & never had problems before. Thomson customer support useless.

I had trouble but fortunately my local Thomson branch is a 10 min walk away. They did it all for me and printed off everything I needed. TBH I've had nothing but great service from Thomson on the last 3 cruises I've done with them.

  16. Sailing on the Dream in 3 days time :D however I'm struggling to get my packing down to 23Kg which is stressing me out!!:( This is a 2 weeks trip or just over. While I know there's a laundry service I like to wear different clothes not just cleaner ones. Anyone know how strict Thomson are on luggage allowance at check in. Cheers

  17. It is a 20 min hike and over the hill but great views and definitely doable for someone fit. Taxi is $5pp each way if you want to return by taxi.

Walking you can also stop by Ivan's Stress Free Bar on the way, via taxi you'd probably never get to it...

Are there clearly defined foot paths or is it a case of walking along the road?
