  1. Four of us ladies are leaving our husband's behind and going on a 4 night cruise out of Tampa on Brilliance of the Seas in February. The price for the KEY is 19.00 a day now as they are running a special.  We did take it as it's only 79.00 for the 4 nights. We are all platinum/Emerald already but we thought the perks were ok for the price. Since we don't buy the outrageous drink packages that nobody seems to complain about, it's perfect for us.  I get that it don't work for everyone.

  2. I read that the Ovation was going to dry dock for a 50 million dollar renovation since China is no longer its home. The long article I read discussed making several changes to the ship now that the US is its home port.  What they are changing, I cannot say but I am sure it will be a lot of the restaurants, casino's, and stores.  Everything was written in Chinese. If you look at youtube videos of the ship you can see the Chinese influence all over thee ship and all the writings. I am sure they want to make it more Americanized. I didn't hear anything about mechanical problems but obviously I don't know the whole story.

  3. Looking forward to hearing about Rob's first cruise. I have been to the Rock of Gibralter and it was amazing. Also we are heading to Scotland in August. This is off point of your post but could you please ask Rob if people in Scotland get offended when visitors wear kilts there. I am Scotish myself and wanted to wear a kilt one day while there when we see the military tattoo but don't want to offend. We are going on the Symphony in October 2019. I know its far away but love hearing about it. Enjoy the cruise.....

  4. Why do people rate their cruise experience by the experience at the Windjammer? We all know that at times eating there can be a little overwhelming but we go when the crowd is not there or eat at the many other food areas on ship. I believe we all have had little things that annoy us when we cruise, and normally its little. The windjammer is always a hot topic on the boards. Sorry OP got sick. Nobody wants to be ill while cruising but I don't believe its RC fault.

  5. Sometimes its best you just don't know what people do with their hands before going to the feeding frenzy line. I have seen some in the bathroom, come out and not wash their hands and go right to the buffet touching everything!!!! It's just like every other place you eat at no matter where it is. You have no idea what people do, scary:( Relax and enjoy the cruise. I know others have seen employees standing there before entering the windjammer trying to get everyone to use the hand sanitizers and people practically run by to avoid them.

  6. Could someone explain to me if the email I received from Royal Caribbean today was just a generic email concerning booked entertainment. The email said that the Gift show I booked on the 4th was switched to the 8th instead and sorry for the inconvenience. I looked at my booking and saw that I booked the Gift for the 1st and not the 4th. I called Royal Caribbean and they put me on hold 12 minutes after I initially spoke to someone about it. I ended just hanging up since I felt 12 minutes was a long time to wait for someone to answer my question.

    Thank you in advance......

  7. Apparently the ship always has some kind of problem. We were on it less than 2 weeks ago and one of the engines was broke. They had problems with the water and had to turn it off twice once in the morning when we were trying to shower and then again when we were at port. I would never sail that ship again, its only a matter of time before it breaks down at sea. Its old and needs to be scrapped. Nothing against Carnival but sometimes enough is enough. Hope yours is uneventful and you have a wonderful cruise. just think positive

  8. We just came off the Paradise this Thursday May 4th. First I will say, my father in law paid for this cruise for 15 of us which he does every 5 years. It is all adults. Although I have been on Carnival, it has been awhile since I last booked a cruise with them. I don't know how to put this but this ship needs to go to the scrap yard. It's OLD and falling apart. I have never seen so much ugliness in a ship in a long time. Things falling apart everywhere. Our room had a pink sink with a stopper on a chain. Who does that anymore??? The window was all rusted and nasty. You could not see out of it. The mirror was broken so I told the cabin steward right off so he didn't think we did it. Carpet was stained and worn. Walking around the atrium, it made you feel miserable, depressed the colors of ugly brown all over was too much. One of the engines was not working but the other 5 were. We took a behind tour of the ship and we were told that as long as the smaller ships made money, they would continue to maintain them, and refurbish them because once they send all this class of ship to scrap yards, they will never build a new one that small so once they are gone, that's it. Also, we were told that if the ship starts costing more to fix and repair then what it makes, then it will be scrapped. But I wasn't totally disappointed as the service from every employee was fantastic. I will not talk bad about the food because too many passengers do that. I found it somewhat good but this ship has NO alternatives in dining. The entertainment was good. No balconies unless you were in suites and I was told they were disgusting. My in laws had one because of all the rooms they booked. When you go to port, just take a look at the ceilings on the suites when you get off the ship, that should say it all.... There was not hand sanitizers in the food area as you walk in so take that as word to the wise and bring some with you. Their cruise director was excellent!!! he is married to one of the dancers. I don't want to sound ungrateful for the cruise, I normally love being on any ship. I have not committed to any cruise lines and have tried others. I just might try another NEW Carnival some day, but this ship is dreary and ugly and old. The day we got off, we arrived at port at 3am because they were cutting out a door in the side of the ship for preparation in going to Cuba. Hope they seal it up tight. !!!

  9. I inquired about upgrading to a suite as we are leaving on this ship at the end of the month. I was told by a travel agent, not to spend my money, it was not worth it. Since there are no balcony rooms other than on some suites, I was a little disappointed. After she told me the suites were terrible for the price you have to pay, I was glad she was steering me away from it. Needless to say, I didn't upgrade.

  10. I want to thank you for having the most extensive review of the Anthem. What a refreshing review for a change. Instead of reading, the food is cold, the entertainment stinks, the service is horrible and on and on. It gets to the point you don't want to read anyone's because they are all the same whining and complaining. If there was a prize for the best review that was informative, entertaining, educational with outstanding photo's and videos you would get it!!!! We are on this ship in August. I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed reading a post for a change. You ROCK !!!!
