  1. we're doing a really interesting B2B cruise situation for our honeymoon. We're going on the norweigen getaway out of miami for the first week, then boarding the allure of the seas on the same day the getaway returns. the ports are only a half hour drive apart so i'm not terribly worried about timing. does anyone know of a good way to manage the travel other than shell out for a taxi?

  2. Hey everyone. We will be on the getaway for our honeymoon next month. I was wondering if anyone has experienced the vibe cabanas. We are hoping to get one (we know it's a long shot)

    My questions would be:

    1) the earliest arrival time we could get was 11am. The earlier ones were booked up. If we got there early and asked nicely would we be able to get in the first boarding group?

    2) what is the best way to try to snag one? Go straight to the vibe, guest services, somewhere else?

    3) is there any way to reserve one in advance?

    4) just any general reviews you might have.

If we don't get a cabana we'll still try to get one of the regular spots.

  3. Quick question. How much spending money would you recommend you have available for a cruise like this? Obviously we don't need to do a private tour every single port or pound a 12 pack every day, but we would like to be able to enjoy ourselves. We are a 26 year old couple and want to start putting away money for this now. Neither of us have jobs that will allow us to retire in the upper class, but we figure if we start putting away money now we may be able to do it when we retire in 40 years. I know money now is very different from money in the future, but just trying to get a general idea.

Okay, maybe that wasn't so quick.

Also, is there a show every night? That's our favorite part of any cruise.

Just wanted to add, absolutely love the blog.

  4. We're doing 2 weeks in the Caribbean on B2B cruises (different ships). Stopping at Roatan, Belize, Costa maya, Cozumel, St. Maartin, San Juan, and Labadee. We pretty much know what we want to do. We're just shopping around for the best experences at the best prices. We're thinking at least one snorkel, a discover scuba, maybe a dolphin swim if the price is right.

  5. Thanks guys! The other question is what is available at Nelli's beach? All I see is a Beach Cabana ($395) and an over the water cabana ($495). I notice that even though I can't book it, barefoot beach has a Standard cabana for $295. Is there a cheaper option on Nelli's beach that I'm just not seeing, maybe because it's booked up?

  6. Hey all. I'm going to Labadee for the first time on our honeymoon. It seems like we can book a cabana on Nellie's beach for $395 or $495 depending on location. We can also book a beach bed for $195. (If they don't book up by the time we get on board we can get the Barefoot beach ones. This would probably be our first choice but I called yesterday and there's only 3 left on Nellie's beach so I want to nail that down and then upgrade if that's what we go with. There's 16 beach beds left so I'm not in a rush to get one of those.)

My question is, what is everyone's opinion? Are the beach bed's comfortable enough to be worth getting over the cabana? Is there anything the cabana comes with that the beach bed doesn't other than a ceiling fan and a different location?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. I changed my perks on the cruise I'm booked on right now. The catch was I had to pay the price difference from what I was paying to the new price. Usually if the price goes up, even a dollar, they'll let you do that. If the price goes down and you haven't made your final payment yet then they will still let you do it. I haven't tried having paid in full and then changing the perks with the same or lower price yet.

  8. Thank you guys so much for all the help. I think I saw that one of the differences is that for some of the a la carte restaurants that aren't covered like Ocean Blue, the UDP has a 20 or 25% discount, while the SDP it uses one of your meals but it's only like $15 for the entire meal. I don't know what the price ranges are at those restaurants.

Also, I know a lot of restaurants like Le Bistro and Cagneys have gone to a la carte where they used to be a set price, and I wasn't sure if those would still be covered under the UDP or fall under the a la carte category of restaurants that aren't covered.

And just an FYI we are going on the Getaway.

Thank you guys for all the help!

  9. Hey everyone. Long time lurker and finally decided to sign up. Anyway, I am doing the first half of my honeymoon on the Norwegian Getaway (second half on the Allure of the Seas) and we purchased the Ultimate Dining Package before the cruise line got rid of it to make way for the Specialty Dining Package.

I have the option to get a refund for the UDP and get the SDP instead but have absolutely no clue if I should do it. Can someone lay out the differences and pros/cons of each please? I called NCL and they said they would honor the UDP since I bought it before they got rid of it, just not sure which version is better and what the differences are. I've been on a bunch of cruises but this is my first with NCL so treat me like a first time cruiser in your explanation please . Thanks again.

Also, sorry in advance if this has been asked 10,000 times already.
