All doing well here.  Sarah going into third year out of 6 at university.

Since you received a lower price it sounds like a move and not a lift and shift which is a good thing

Emily starts Loyola in the fall!  I'm not ready. 😞

Should I just reach out to Royal then on Monday and ask?  I was concerned that somehow not having the full 4 people would somehow void the reservation or the suite.  In my mind, seeing some of the pricing, I'd be better off paying for the 4 and just not telling them she isn't showing.

Hey, just recognized your name from our past cruise.

Was the price that you paid originally protected or did your cruise get re priced when you moved it?

Yes sir!  Hope all is well!

I apologize, I'm not 100% sure what exactly was done for us.  I was contacted by a "Royal Caribbean Certified Vacation Planner" who did all the changes.  He was extremely helpful at the time and actually switched us from 2 balcony cabins to the crown loft for less money than we were originally going to be paying.  After the initial switch last September, I've reached out multiple times however can not get a response.  I'm assuming that this may have been a re-price if my cabins and pricing changed?

You can cancel her off the reservation until you are at the 100% penalty phase which is 30 days prior to sailing and get a full refund for the 4th guest.  your reservation will not be repriced.

There are different rules for cancelling third and fourth guests.

Edited...If this was a lift and shift you cannot make any change to occupancy.  Just pay it and have your daughter be a no show and get the port fees and taxes refunded.  If it was not a lift and shift then the first part of my answer applies

Thank you immensely!  Greatly appreciate the information.

Is there a specific way of knowing if I definitely did a "lift and shift"?  I'm assuming that is what happened since my original cruise was canceled and my deposit was moved to this one...

  4. Good morning everyone!

Family of four has a cruise coming in October that was originally scheduled for last October. Unfortunately due to my daughter starting college in the fall, she will not be able to join us. We have a Crown Loft booked and I am curious as to the ramifications of her not showing. My final payment is due this coming Monday and I'm torn as to what to do, reschedule, cancel, go forward with just the 3 of us.

I'm assuming I will have to pay the full amount of the 4 of us to keep our current rates intact. Does anyone have any insight or experience in this area?

    Thank you!

  5. The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude 5.9 earthquake has shaken northwestern Haiti. There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake was centered about 12 miles west-northwest of Ti Port-de-Paix off Haiti’s north coast.

The quake damaged the facade of a church in Plaisance, and a house next door collapsed, according to Reuters, which cited a Twitter report from a journalist with the Haitian newspaper Le Nouvelliste.

I've seen several reports like this, but nothing specific to the Labadee area. We will probably have to wait until the next ship visits or Royal releases a statement.

  6. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for? We were there in January and while it was warm/hot on the beach the water was too cold for me but my husband snorkeled for a bit. Kind of a reversal for us since I am usually braver with cold water being a swimmer. This was our second time in Labadee, we were at Adrenaline Beach this time and Columbus Cove the time before. Both places the water was cloudy due to the sand being churned up by people so snorkeling was not great. There were some fish at both locations and jelly fish at Columbus Cove. Let me know if you are looking for something more specific?
Our first time to Labadee, so just not sure what to expect. I hear the back side water is clearer, but adrenaline is less crowded.

  7. Personally, I will not go to the MDR. I hated the crowds and the service was rushed and not very good. I much prefer Coastal Kitchen and the relaxed atmosphere. I won't sail on an Oasis/Quantum class ship without being able to eat at CK. But, that's just my two cents

Are formal nights in the CK the same as the rest of the ship? Do you tend to see more formal attire in the CK? My family enjoys dressing up, but it would be awkward if most in the CK do not!

  8. The suite sun deck is also nice on sea days. Never very crowded. We were able to get one of the 4 cabanas both days. Access to your own bar.

Really enjoyed reserved seating at the shows and being able to skip the line of people getting their cards scanned.

The concierges are great and can do just about anything on the ship. We didn't like our table/waiter in the MDR and he switched us to a better spot.

I made a specialty restaurant reservation in advance but didn't like the time. The concierge was able to change this. You should receive an email from them one week in advance of your cruise. You can make requests at that time.

We also enjoyed the suite sail away party from one of the ports. It is held on the helipad around 4:30 and you meet all the officers other than the captain....he's busy at that time.

Quiet coffee and continental breakfast in the suite lounge every morning while reading the paper on the free unlimited internet.....

I know I'm on a cruise, but I go crazy without contact to the outside world. The free internet allows unlimited contact and also allows our family to stay in touch with each other on the ship.

Do most suite guests go to the MDR or the Coastal Kitchen if not going to individual restaurants? I've heard the Coastal Kitchen is better than the MDR, and in some cases better than some of the restaurants.

  9. This has probably already been posted but when you’re in line at the buffet, please, please use the provided utensils, don’t put your grubby hands on the food. AND, no matter how tantalizing the food is, wait until you sit down to eat. Sorry but there’s nothing more disgusting than watching someone grab food with their hands and continue to eat as they walk to the table. Just my opinion.

Or standing at the buffet and eating... :o:o Seen that several times!

  10. Greetings all.

Excuse the ignorance, first time in a suite, specifically a crown loft. Couple of questions.

What is your favorite benefit that you take advantage of from being a suite guest?

Do I need to make dining/show reservations ahead of time, or do suite guests get priority?

    Thanks!
