  1. In my case, because they served a drink I really liked in the Steakhouse that nowhere else on the ship even had a clue what I was talking about.

What is the name of the drink?

    What is in it?

I would like to know for my upcoming trip which finally has a steakhouse on the ship. Thank you in advance.

  2. Have done the last 5 cruises on Princess, but after this last Alaska cruise, but just booked Carnival Miracle to somewhere WARM.. A few questions

    1) I think I understand the Cheers program, but, My wife is on strong pain meds and doesn't drink. Will I be able to only get the Cheers program due to her condition? No

    2) Princess charges the same amount for Unlimited drinks, do I understand correctly water, coffee, as well as alcoholic drinks all count? Not toward your 15 drink total. That is only alcoholic drinks. Non alcoholic drinks are unlimited.

    3) Off the Cheers program, I saw a bar menu online that I don't know if it's current. I'm strictly a beer drinker and yes I can drink about a 12 pack a day. I like the taste :)Individual beers are included no buckets or tubes on the cheers program. About 6 to 7 dollars each. They do have buckets and tubes I'm not sure of the price.

    4) Princess offers beer buckets, i.e.: 5 for the price of 4. Carnival? Can't answer this sorry but not available with cheers.

    5) I usually buy a few 5 for 4 packages from room service to stock my mini bar. Didn't see that, am I missing something? You can buy these online ahead of the trip fron Bon Voyage through the Fun Shops.

    6) Princess had Happy hours with Buy one get one for 1$. Carnival?Special drink of the day. No true happy hour. Some bars offer dollar off specials.

Last and not least, on our last Carnival cruise, Spirit in 2010, I was "allowed" to bring back a 6 pack of local beer at the ports we visited in Mexico. Now?All alcohol purchased on shore must be checked and stored for you to pick up on the morning of disembarkation.

Embarkation of water? My wife likes Smart water to flush her system with all the pain meds she takes. Is it still true all water checked in must be in cans?Water must be in sealed can or carton. No bottles. You can buy a 12 pack from the Fun Shop to be in your cabin for $3.99 and they are saying that you can now order it while on board for the same price.

Long list, but if anyone can help this would be great. I do like my beer as you can see by my Avitar. My buddy travels everywhere with me.

    Mahalo, Tim

Please see above I hope this helps

  3. Do all the ships with Red frog Pub serve bar food or is it only on the new ship's like

    (Breeze, Vista)

I had heard the Legend does's not.

From the information that I have gotten, the only Red Frog Pub locations that serve food are the ones that were original when the ship was built. All of the other ships that have gotten a Red Frog Pub in a retrofit or upgrade do not serve food due to not having a galley located in the pub. I hope this helps.

  4. Thank you very much for this review. My family and I will be sailing on the Miracle in a few months and like you I am looking for as many reviews as possible. I agree some good and a lot bad. Well I'm not a complainer and I just love getting to have a vacation with my family so unless it is so horrible that it truly ruined my vacation sure I would complain, however, most of these people just get upset about the smallest things and allow that to set their tone till the end and ruin their own vacation. I have spent far too many years of not being able to take a vacation with the whole family so we make the best of any situation.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about the kids club. Our son still keeps in contact with several kids he met in the teen club last year and our 9 year old daughters best friend to this day is a boy she met in the club a year ago. They skype and play online games together quite often.

How were the activities for the kids club the week you went?

Do you by chance have a copy of their schedule for the week that you could post or send? Just so I have an idea. Especially since it appears that your kids are the same age as our youngest.

If you can think of anything else about your time on the Miracle I look forward to reading about it. Again thank you for the review.

  5. a lot of what you have submitted is not true according to carnival web site. You are aware they have recently changed their program?

You do realize that the post you have quoted is over 3 years old right?

Many things have changed in the last 3 years and if you follow the whole thread you will see the updates. What was posted in the original post was accurate at the time of posting.

  6. I don't know about others, but half the fun for me is all the planning leading up to my cruise. OK ...we maybe not half the fun but I love the anticipation and planning. The light at the end of the tunnel what gets me through my grueling workdays. After particularly rough days, I always come home and research pics of the ship, read the reviews, research the ports and generally dream and scheme about my next adventure.

I am, however experiencing a bit of a lull this time around. You see, I am cruising on my Favorite ship, the beautiful Carnival Miracle, in 100 days. I am totally excited to spend some quality time aboard but I am intimately familiar with her and don't really need to research the ship. On past cruises, I did TONS of research on PV and Cabo excursions and areas. So what do I have left to do to lift me up after a grueling day at work?

I have started a FB page for my sailing in the effort to drum up the excitement and keep me busy planning activities and such. However so far we only have three members (including myself) and a guy who keeps trolling the group with naked Gumby (complete with private parts) pictures. The roll call for the group is pretty quiet as well.

    Any suggestions?

I totally agree, by the way we leave on the Miracle this Saturday!!!! It was over 100 days when we booked so it is now "Go" time and we are all thrilled. I too have been looking at YouTube, first time doing that. It's our 11th Cruise and first time on The Miracle....can't wait. Big time single digit dance going on. I'm actually in training now at work (shhh) just trying to get through the day.

Which itinerary are you each sailing? I would love it if you would post some reviews of the Miracle when you are back. I leave after both of you and would love to read it. I have never been on that ship and I am looking forward to it. Would love it if you could include menu pictures just so I can get my hopes up. And yes I do like the A/T menu. Some bar menus would be great too, especially the Alchemy. And if you could the FunTimes. I know I am asking a lot. However, as you said this is part of the fun to live vicariously through others.

  7. Hello everyone,

It has been a few years since taking our last cruise but thinking of booking another one.

My concern is what will my 18 year old son do onboard ? He will be in his first year of college and we were thinking of cruising in early-mid January while he is on Winter break missing all of the headache of Christmas break when all of the younger kids will be onboard. Also, cheaper prices. I am guessing that there may not be that many people his age on the ship.

He is at the in between age of too old for Kids club but not old enough to do adult activities. He will not be allowed in the casino and can't drink in the bars. Worried he would not have a good time.

This is a very subjective question. It is going to depend very much on your son. We went on a cruise with our 3 kids, one was 18 one was 16 and the youngest was 9. Our 9 y/o had a blast at the kids club and still stays in touch with some of the kids she met at the club. Our 17 y/o also loved the teen club and keeps in contact with a few of the kids he met at the club. Our 18 y/o for some reason isn't the most outgoing when it comes to meeting people so she spent a lot of time in the room or just sitting on deck. A few of the nights she went with us to the adult shows and had fun. So the big question is what type of person is your son. You have obviously cruised as an adult, what do you do for fun? The only 2 things that he won't be able to do is go to Serenity and drink alcohol. As soon as the casinos open the ship is in international waters and the gambling age is 18.

  8. Can you order it after you board? This is great!

According to the Carnival Fun Shops you can now order and have delivered on board the 12 pack of water for $3.99.

    http://www.carnival.com/FunShops/item/SP4/bottled-water-sm-bottles-12-pack

    Purified Water - 12 Pack

    $3.99

12-pk of Purified Bottled Water (16.9 fluid oz. bottle)

Please Note: Bottled water is non-refundable. You can now order for the same price on-board.

  9. I had the same question and so I called Carnival. They told me that I could purchase either the Vineyard package or the wine by the bottle and still have Cheers. I think that the key is to order the bottle, bucket ,tube, etc. BEFORE you hit the 15! The 15 is an indicator to them that you have consumed quite a bit. Actually, I am in the camp that believes that the 15 limit is not only to limit the amount to make the program also fair for their price for them, but because some attorney somewhere felt they had to cap it to even have a one price deal. I think the rest, if you are willing to pay, goes under the radar.

Did they happen to tell you if those would be discounted because of the Cheers package ?

  10. We're traveling with two year olds in August on the Imagination and have questions. We are staying in the Grand Suites. (1) Do the balconies have plexiglass so that the little ones can see through. We don't want them climbing up to see over the railing. (2) What kind of knobs are on the cabin door and the restroom door? Round knobs? Levers? (3) Would it be easy for them to lock themselves in the bathroom? Suggestions on what we can do to prevent that. (4) Do the cabin doors have a lock that is above the reach of the littles ones? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's been a while but I will tell you for sure that the balcony is solid metal up to about chest height for an adult. The door out to the balcony has a lever type knob but also has a deadbolt type of lock. I don't remember what type of knob is on the bathroom.

  11. Im all confused are you saying now that I pre-paid the drink package we don't get the package until the second day?

If you are departing from a port in New York, Alabama, or Texas then yes this is correct. Your package kicks in at 6 AM of the second day.

If you are departing from any of the other ports then no your package is available as soon as you walk onto the boat. This has to do with the laws in each of those states.

  12. Apologize if this is somewhere else already.

Carnival's website for duty-free allowance states that the Duty-Free Allowance for alcohol is 5 L per person. Then it has a note saying that 1L must be a product of the US Virgin islands if St. Thomas is on the itinerary.

So, I can't just get a bottle of rum in Puerto Rico?

  13. The drink package is 50 before sailing, 55 on ship... does that mean up to the ship leaves or the day before if we order online we can get it for the cheaper price? or how soon before do you have to pre order to save?

We will be on the Miracle. Are these the milkshakes that are included in the Cheers package? All of these drinks, too?

MaiTaiMary, when you return could you please do a review of the ship and the cheers program please. I have seen you posting many questions and comments and I too will be on the Miracle in a few months so I am looking forward to more information about her.

I would love to read your review about the Cheers program and the milkshakes too. If you could take pictures of the menus and bar menus and post them after that would be much appreciated. I just like to over plan (good sometimes, bad others) My whole family will be going so I like to see what is offered so if you could post the FunTimes too I would be very appreciative.

I am planning on purchasing the Cheers program and I am hoping that Carnival makes some changes to the Bubbles program to include more otherwise that won't work well for my kids. We bought it for them on our last cruise and they each averaged about 1 to 2 sodas a day. We would have saved money to purchase that on it's own. Oh well you live you learn.

Very mush looking forward to your review.

    Thank you in advance

  15. Hi, We are sailing on the Carnival Vista in July and we can't decide whether to buy the Cheers drinks package for me and my hubby or put money on a cash card to spend in the bars? We both enjoy a drink, but we've never cruised with Carnival before so are unsure of the prices of wine, beer, etc when on board?? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Ok if I am reading this correct I will give you my 2 cents worth.

First a prepaid cash card wont help in the bar itself. Yes you can put it on as the payment method for your Sail and Sign card, however, in the bar all you can use is the SnS card. So in effect you are charging the drinks to your account each time. Each drink is around $10 for mixed give or take for liquor preference and a beer in general is around $6. If you drink one or two a day go for the prepaid on the SnS but if you each drink more than that on vacation then the Cheers program is for you. Plus with the new enhancements you get a lot more. You can now get specialty coffee, milkshakes, non-alcoholic drinks, and bottled water all unlimited. Many people are saying that the break even point is about 5-6 mixed drinks a day each but if you add in all the non-alcoholic options that number comes down fairly quickly. Specialty coffee is $4-6 each Milkshakes I believe I saw around $5 and the bottled water depends on where you are. Half liters are available at the bars and larger formats are available in the MDR including San Pellegrino. I hope this helps

  16. My 18 year old, who would much rather ask me, than check himself, queried me about the #LIV1820 program on Carnival.

I found two threads, neither of which have a post after the beginning of January 2016.

Is this still done? How does it work? Any details at all would be great.

I appreciate any new information, although it will take me forever to find the time to tell him the information since he is always playing "League of Legend" or some other computer game.

Unfortunately this has been discontinued. The story is that there wasn't enough interest so they feel it failed. My response to that is the only failure was communication. I was on a ship in October last year and saw nothing in the FunTimes about it and I looked for anything for my daughter to do. Several times I went to GS and asked about any activities for that age group and they all said they have nothing. After our return my PVP called and asked how my daughter liked the #LIV1820 to which I told him they didn't have it. He was not happy because it was listed as being on the ship and active when we sailed. So yes there is a failure but I don't think it is the club, it was the communication about it and the staff on the ship that was supposed to put it on. I have seen several posts since that stated that they did find it in the FunTimes and when they went to the event there were no employees to open or run the venue and when they asked GS they were told that it was a typo. So you draw your own conclusion.

  17. Sailing in 24 days and we will be searching out the top shelf drinks. I believe if you can drink what you want, up to 15 a day, it really doesn't matter what the cost per drink is. You still come out ahead after about 5-6. We will report back if there are any that are significantly higher to maximize value!

Please do. I will thank you in advance and if you could maybe get some pictures of the menus of the drinks that would be great too. I have been wondering what all the new per drink price point would cover. I am sure that different ships might have different stock of high end drinks but they should be fairly close.

  18. Thank you for posting these menus! :)

The Valor is getting a much needed drydock this month, and is getting fitted with all the upgrades, including the American Table Menu.

I'll be going on a 5 day cruise this year (shortest cruise so far!), so I'm wondering what the substitution is for the Elegant Night, since lobster and filet mignon are off the table, so to speak.

The only thing I remember being different on our 4 day last year was the removal of the lobster tail. I cant remember what they substituted for it but they did have prime rib so I was half happy

  19. We just booked a cruise on the carnival miracle and the carnival person we spoke to told us to watch for price drops. How do we do that? TIA.

If you use this tool it will break it down for you. You have to know what you paid per person and then divide the total given here by the number of travelers. Don't look at the price on the receipt per person if you have more than 2 people in a cabin. If there are 3 as an example and you paid $1500 the price per person would be $500 not the break down on the receipt. The prices given on this tool are without taxes and port fees and if you added them prepaid gratuities.
