  1. Stumbled onto this thread and thought I'd try it out. Found a cheaper tour of Uxmal through shore excursioneer. Submitted it, and got a credit of $9.90 per person because the tour through Carnival goes an hour longer. Definetly doing this from now on! I had trouble finding the link, so if anyone else was wanting to try it, here's the link! https://www.carnival.com/request-forms/shore-excursion-best-price-guarantee.aspx

  2. My friend and I already booked an AI beach day at Chankanaab before all these stories broke out and we honestly are a little worried but I've been telling myself the same thing many of you mentioned. They thrive off of cruiselines visiting the island and cruises wouldn't stop there or list excursions to places if they didn't feel they could guarantee our safety. Still a little sketched out, but going to try and enjoy myself regardless.

  3. Is it the Mocha Chocolate Getaway?

That might be it! I'm a sucker for chocolate! Lol they served a cocktail in MDR that was really chocolatey too, but those mixed drinks were way better in my opinion. In just 14 days I'll have one of those Getaways in my hand! Can't wait!!!:D:tropical-drink:

  4. Can't remember what it was called but it was basically Carnival's version of a mudslide. It was soo good! Had at least 1 a day! Very chocolatey and had chocolate syrup swirled around the inside of the glass. That and the fun ship one! Haven't sailed with the Alchemy bar yet, but I think I'll have to check it out!

  5. Trying to pick a good excursion for my friend and I. I was pushing for Chichen Itza but reading reviews on carnival.com made me wary. We had a bad experience with pushy vendors at Dunns river falls, and it sounds like Itza is just as bad, maybe worse. So now I'm thinking Uxmal or the long, weird D-one! Lol Or Tulum? Help! I'm fine with lots of walking and climbing but my friend is less athletically inclined.

  6. An upgrade sale does not involve a change in cabins. It is a change in pricing for particular cabins.

For instance balcony cabins are subdivided into several categories depending mostly on location. An 8A balcony sells for less than an 8B balcony, etc.

A two category upgrade means during the time of that kind of sale an 8B and an 8C cabin will be priced the same as an 8 A.

This applies only in like categories e.g. Interior to interior, ocean view to ocean view. And it often excludes the premium levels within the category such as aft-extended balconies and spa cabins.

Check the fare viewer site. It is clearly demonstrated there.

That makes a lot of sense! Thanks!

  7. I was wondering about this as well! Just booked a cruise online using my vifp #, and got the half off deposit and the $50 stateroom credit but saw nothing about upgrades. Booked the last aft-balcony stateroom available, so its not like they can change my room within the same category, so what heck is gonna be upgraded?

  8. My friend and I are flying out of MIA in the evening after disembarkation so we looked into shore excursions at Miami and want to do this one, but its at 8:00 am, and we probably won't be off the ship by then. Do any of you know if you can buy the excursion and do it at a later time or does it have to be at 8? The guy at carnival we set our cruise up with said we should plan on not being able to get off the ship til 10 or 11.
