  1. Check your flight on https://www.routehappy.com/.

We've only done Air Canada international on miles. Once got business and it was nice. Once got coach and paid $50 extra for an exit row seat. Ended up with one with better than a full row empty before the next row of seats. Lots of leg room. This was about 5 years ago and might not still be an option.

Generally on other airlines, on flights of over 4 hours we buy their premium product. We've never regretted the spend.

As for business, I've only paid twice. Once on a 12 hour flight I paid an extra $2,400 over regular coach and once to Europe we caught a sale for around $2,000 total RT. Both were worth it. Usually though we only fly business on miles.

  2. [Don't be concerned about untoward live performances, that stage is barely ever used for shows, and the white area behind it is -for want of a better description- the base of the smokestack. Anyway, it is where the engine exhaust vents meet before leading up to the funnel.

There is a large (Plasma?) Television Screen on the wall at the back of that stage, usually displaying the current temperature and sometimes a route map, but no sound.

You may hear the occasional Deck chair being moved if you stay in 11053, but not much else.

Many thanks for the prompt reply.

  3. Some say it is noisy but I am not sure why. It looks to be aft of the pool deck and just forward of the Waves Grill. There seems to be seating for the grill overhead and perhaps that is the noise source.

What is the stage on deck 11used for and when? I cannot tell what the area just aft of that stage is? Nothing is shown there.

I could get a similar cabin on deck 10. Should I? I like the idea of shade from the pool overhang and being near the Executive Lounge but would hate to have constant noise.

    Any thoughts?

  4. What time do the shows usually start?

We have specialty dining reservations in all four specialty restaurants. If we want to make the shows, is 7:30 a safer time for diner?

How is the entertainment? Any favorite shows? Is there a schedule of entertainment showing what shows, what days, what times, etc. We are on the seven day, March 13-20, Colorful Caribbean cruise.

  5. We are on the Riviera March 13 cruise and have booked an A2 cabin. I noticed that the cruise has a lot of unsold cabins so I called our TA and asked for a price for an upgrade to PH2. She quoted the full list of $1,050 each ($2,100). She said that the cruise line would not bargain and had only six PH2 cabins available. She said deals are often offered at the 30 day out mark but rarely before. Assuming she is right, any idea of how much we could save by waiting?

BTW, A2 is just fine with us. The PH2 is just for some added fun and not worth $2.1k. So if we miss out, we don't care.

  6. I've searched and learned a lot but still can use some advice. We will be sailing on the Allure on February 8th staying in Grand Suite 9254.

This will be our third Royal Caribbean cruise but always on smaller ships. Because of the size we decided to move up from our usual mini-suite to a full suite.

I know that we get early on and off and have Concierge Lounge privileges. Never having had access to the CL, what can we do there?

I understand that we have priority for specialty dining and excursions. But I keep hearing that reservations for both fill up fast. Once full, does our "priority" mean anything if I have not already booked? And what about the shows -- how far in advance do we need to book to get suite guest seating?

Because we like to dine around we choose the flexible dining option. We'd like to take advantage of the best dinners in the MDR and use the specialty restaurants on other nights. For example I do not want to do the steakhouse on lobster night (assuming there is one). So any way to get MDR menus in advance?

We will be at sea Valentine's day. Any idea what special activities will be aboard. Since the cruise is part of our 50th anniversary celebration we want to find the most romantic venue for dinner on the 14th (our actual anniversary was earlier in the year but she is not letting me off that easy -- this is her year!!!). Any suggestions?

As suite guests we could dine on our balcony or in our room. What are the breakfast and lunch options for suite guests? How well done is the in-room dining option?

I saw something saying new for suite passengers:

    • The Coastal Kitchen restaurant offering fresh cuisine that fuses Mediterranean influences with California cool
    • A private lounge with ocean views
    • A dedicated sun deck with loungers

Is there a Coastal kitchen currently on the Allure? How does it compare to the other specialty restaurants.

Is there really a private lounge and dedicated sun deck for suite guests?

The specialty restaurants include dinner at the Chefs Table for $85. Worth it?

Where can the best seafood be found on board the Allure?

What is the guest policy for breakfast and lunch? May I bring a non-suite guest to breakfast?

Any tips or suggestions for first time suite guests. I'd hate to waste a lot of time learning my way around.

Phyllis and I would love to meet with fellow suite guests. I am an almost retired lawyer (wife won't let me stay home so I go to the office most days) and she is a retired PR professional. We feel young (most of the time) and get around just fine.

We will sign-in in the roll call area and may meet some of you there.

    Thanks in advance.

    Mike

  7. Wish I had bought the shares a year ago. Even today at close to 37 they seem highly regarded. But for someone planning one 14 day cruise per year, even at $40 it is like getting a tax free dividend of over 6% IF THE PROGRAM CONTINUES. Like other posters here, I feel sure that it will.

I'm in for 100 shares. Now with my recent investment luck the shares will collapse and the benefit terminate.

So in order to be fair and warn all of you that a very unlucky investor now owns the shares, I thought I best post this. If you continue to hold the shares and bad things happen, don't say that you were not warned.
